58 Chapter 58 - Run in with the Greedy Bounty Hunter

On the border between the Land of Fire and Land of River. A teenager around fifteen was walking on a dirt path. Attached to his back was a sword and a large scroll that gently swayed as he walked.

This teen was naturally Kagami who was heading towards Hanzo, a former resident. Well former is a bit of a stretch as those outside still believe he is still running the place. Only a small few know of this matter and don't have any plans of saying anything.

As for his back up for this investigation? He didn't have anyone for it was only him and Asura. Since the last known Danzo activity here was over a decade ago. So it was deemed one of the least dangerous investigations.

'Those in the intelligence department need scolding. Not dangerous is like saying that Kurama's riot six years ago was him just getting out of hand while playing.' Kagami slightly grumbled.

"Father, why are you dragging your feet? You could have arrived in a few days and now it is almost a week. Yet we're only about half way there."

"Asura one gots to admire the finer things in life and not rush to do everything." Kagami replied like an old man.

"Is that why Mira tried to beat you up when you tried to pick out a skimpy swimsuit for her." Asura asked. "How about the time you tried to add a camera to her personal bathroom pointed at the shower and bathtub."

Kagami paused slightly as he grumbled a bit about 'stupid teenage hormones'. However he was soon smiling once more as they continued heading towards their destination.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Those were just jokes."

"Sister says Mira found it slightly amusing but very bland." Asura commented. "Something like finally realizing she was in fact a girl."

Kagami chose not to continue this topic. Which led to the two bickering about how he has yet to use his Asura chakra mode in battle. However, Kagami pointed out that it was like using a meteor the size of Konoha to kill a single genin who just graduated.

"Sister says that she and Mira often use it on missions so Mira won't use her Mangekyō Sharingan. Please, Father, I want to counter her when she brags."

"We both know that Kōsetsu likes to brag or exaggerate things. It was only a couple times that they used Kōsetsu chakra mode." Kagami waved his hand.

"Still that a couple more times than you have." Asura grumbled.

"Can you blame me? I don't mean to toot my own horn, but the few battles we came across. Well, they were lacking and Orohimaru ran away."

Not long after saying this, Kagami felt danger and jumped backwards. There a large turret of water burst out of the ground before two guys in black cloaks with red clouds appeared on the other side. An outfit he recognized, but he could only recognize one of the two.

Kakuzu.

"Senju Kagami, your head is worth a pretty penny." Kakuzu said, almost sounding surprised to see him.

"Indeed, my bounty is pretty good if I say so." Kagami agreed. "Almost tempted to turn myself in for the bounty once upon a time."

"Don't worry, I will claim it for you." Kakuzu growled as his arm stretched out with gray tendrils allowing it.

Kagami drew his sword and pulled out one of his flying thunder kunai. His eyes soon turned scarlet as three tomoes spun in his eyes. Then as the arm raced towards him Kagami kicked forward, coating his sword in wind chakra to cut off Kakuzu's extended arm. However, as his sword was about to touch the tendrils, Kagami vanished in a blink as more tendrils branched off.

"Ahh!" Kakuzu's partner, while he had his weapon drawn, wasn't prepared.

So in one fluid motion after throwing the flying kunai, Kagami managed to kill the man in one strike. Kagami managed to cut his neck in one clean swipe leaving the man no chance to recover as he felt limp to the ground.

"Trash." Kakuzu grumbled but clearly didn't care about his teammate.

This was further shown as Kakuzu allowed his tendrils to pierce through his teammate's corpse. Forcing Kagami to move before being impaled once again.

Holding out a hand, Kagami began to rotate chakra in his palm as a wind blade seemed to form on the outside. Which was followed by a high speed pitch as Kagami prepared his next attack on Kagami. Hence he dropped his sword and threw a kunai at Kakuzu and used the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Extending his palm, Kagami quickly ran away leaving behind his attack. Which instantly expanded into a large dome shredding everything inside.

"Wind Release: Rasenshuriken."

While Kagami was fighting with Kakuzu, back in Konoha in the headquarters of Root. Danzo frowned deeper as he looked into the mirror. For what he saw was his aging body as gray threatened to over take his hair. While wrinkles were visible appearing by the day as if he ages a year every day.

Even if the Hashirama Cells Orochimaru managed to implant thanks to the arm extended his life. It seems that it sped up his aging as the Hashirama Cells attacked the Serum or that is what he was told.

"I refuse to die before living my dream." Danzo growled.

He wished he could kill Kagami but not only is it proving difficult. The boy could be the only possible way for him to survive. Which infuriated him to no end as he began to see hints that Hiruzen is thinking of making him his successor.

However, before his eyes he saw a new wrinkle appear and his face looked more haggard. Showing that his ever shortening life is coming to an end soon. Which forced him to calm down as it seems the more emotion he shows the faster the speed he ages.

"I will be Hokage. I will."
