16 Chapter 16: Zombies?
*warning, this chapter may be a bit gruesome to some audiences.*
A routine slowly started forming in Naruto's life, the academy was 5 days a week with only the weekends being days off, Naruto's first week of school was mostly introductory, they had their first day of Taijutsu lessons at the end of the week, which quite frankly didn't compare to what Guy-sensei had taught Naruto, every clan child had already learned the basics of their clan Taijutsu, while the civilian kids did learn quite a lot from those lessons Naruto didn't have much to gain out of it, and they wouldn't even begin to spar until a month later.
It was currently the weekend and Naruto was planning to enter his first Zombie ID, he had prepared a bunch of Kunai and Shuriken, and a sword he got as a gift from Dog a couple of months back, though his Kenjutsu wasn't that great it was better to have a weapon just in case.
'Alright, let's do this.' Naruto thought to himself "Create Zombie ID".
Space started warping around Naruto as his apartment warped, once the space around him calmed down the previous light surrounding completely disappeared, instead, it was replaced by darkness.
Everything in his room looked like it had been abandoned for years, Naruto walked up to the window and looked outside, the first thing he noticed was that the moon was red, casting an eerie red light onto the abandoned and decrepit village.
The second thing he noticed was the slow-moving corpses that were walking down on the street, although there were only two on the street that Naruto was in they were enough to make Naruto slightly nervous, which quickly disappeared when gamer's mind activated.
The creepy decomposed walking corpses that would bring horror to others now seemed completely normal to Naruto, all the nervousness disappeared, and plans to deal with them started appearing in his mind.
First of all, Naruto had to observe them, and then he could decide whether to take them on in groups or by themselves.
Naruto quickly left his apartment and went to a room that was closer to the ground, he once again looked at the zombies in more detail and was slightly disgusted, their guts were hanging out of their stomach area and there were maggots all around their body, he was slightly reluctant to fight these things.
'Observe.' Naruto thought in his mind since he didn't want to grab their attention by speaking.

Naruto smirked, these things were quite weak, the only thing they really had going for them was their strength but that was easily negligible if you were fast enough to dodge, which Naruto definitely was.
Naruto took his sword out of his inventory and decided to stop wasting time, he could only get so far by staring at them, he had determined that stat-wise he was far superior to them, now the only thing left to do was figure out if he was better at fighting too.
The two zombies were walking the opposite way from each other so Naruto could fight them one on one, Naruto jumped out of the window from which he was looking at one of the zombies and charged at the closest one.
He barely made any noise as he landed and made none as he charged, the zombie didn't seem to notice him either, so he decided to use this opportunity and see how well the zombies could take hits.
Naruto took his sword, which was a Ninjatō, and swung it at the head of the Zombie, immediately decapitating it.

It immediately died.

The body of the zombie disappeared into dark particles of smoke and a dark yellow tooth dropped to the ground, which surprised Naruto, he didn't think that the zombies would drop anything other than EXP, which they gave quite a bit of, his perk gave a 25% increase which meant that a single zombie gave 100 EXP.
'EXP' Naruto decided to check how much exp he needed to level up.

Normally Naruto would've had to kill 14 more but with his academy student perk he only had to kill 11 more, which was a good thing since he didn't know how long he would need to stay in here to level up, it would be suspicious if he disappeared for hours with no one knowing where he went to.
Naruto now approached the second zombie who was still completely clueless to the things going on behind him.
Naruto wanted to sneak attack this zombie too but sadly that was not possible as the zombie turned around just before Naruto could've cut its head off.
The zombie raised its arms in defense, unfortunately for the zombie, the Ninjatō cut cleanly through its arms and continued on to its chest, though the zombie didn't look like it cared that much.

The system kept on giving notifications on how much dmg Naruto dealt, which was quite distracting to Naruto while he was fighting, the notifications took his attention away from the zombie and the crazed beast lunged at Naruto and bit him.

Naruto ignored the notifications and stabbed his sword through the head of the zombie which was biting onto his left arm.

"Ow!" Naruto exclaimed more irate than anything, his pain resistance skill made the pain almost none existent as the zombie only slightly bit through his skin and barely hurt his flesh.

Naruto became more and more irritated the more notifications he received and in his irritated state shouted out something he didn't think would work.
"Notifications off!"

The loud dings all disappeared and peace came to Naruto's mind.
Naruto could see in his status that his health was still going down which stopped after two minutes of waiting.
"Notification settings" Naruto decided to see what the system was talking about.

This was just the basics of what Naruto could see, he decided to turn most notifications that weren't distracting on and kept things like DMG and the ding sound off since they were distracting in a fight, he decided to keep health notifications on since he wanted to know if he lost any health, like with the infection.
Naruto calmed down from his irritated state and decided to stop wasting time, he had already spent 20 minutes in the ID and didn't want to stay much longer.
Naruto walked around the village and soon found a group of three zombies walking together, this would be the first time he would ever fight against multiple opponents at the same time so he considered it a valuable learning experience.
Naruto decided to test out his shurikens on the zombies to see how much damage they could do to them, he threw a total of 10 shurikens, 3 hit 1 zombie in the head immediately killing it and the 7 other shurikens landed on various parts of the two leftover zombies, they were both at about half health.
The zombies looked at Naruto with a crazed look and charged straight at him, he could've thrown more shuriken to kill them easily but he wanted to actually use the chance to fight multiple opponents.
The first zombie lunged at him much like the previous zombie had and tried to bite Naruto, the zombie was deftly dodged, the second zombie swung its bony hand at Naruto, Naruto ducked under it while he cut into its side.
The first zombie recovered from its lunge and swung its arm at Naruto at the same time the second zombie also swung.
This time Naruto could simply dodge as then he would be hit by the other zombie, instead, he jumped back to dodge the first swing and cut off the hand of the second one.
The zombies seemed to realize something as they both took in a deep breath, Naruto's instincts warned him that if he let them do whatever they were planning on doing he wouldn't get away unharmed.
So Naruto beheaded one of the zombies but couldn't get to the other one in time.
The other zombie let out a deep guttural scream that seemed to reverberate through the entire village, Naruto quickly decapitated that zombie too and kept his guard up.
The surroundings were eerily quiet before tens, if not hundreds of screams reverberated back.
Naruto quickly realized that he had messed up, it seemed that the zombie had called out to its brethren to come and kill this human.
It would've been a lie to say that Naruto wasn't excited to fight hundreds of zombies but he was slightly scared at the fact that hundreds of zombies would soon be rushing at him if he decided to stay put.
Naruto instead started moving, he first climbed up to the top of a building to see how many zombies would be coming at him.
He looked and saw large groups of zombies joining together heading to the place where the zombie had previously screamed.

Naruto smiled, it seemed like the system wanted him to fight.
