37 Battle of Legends (part-2)
At a different place and time, another big battle was about to take place as Shisui encountered the reanimated pair of Itachi Uchiha and Nagato Uzumaki.
As soon as he saw Itachi, Shusui felt something clutching at his heart as certain memories started resurfacing in his head.
However, now was not the time for the to feel guilt and regret. So he put on an indifferent expression on his face as he suppressed his feelings.
"Itachi" Shisui called out
"Shisui!! It's really good to see you." Itachi said as a rare faint smile spread across his face.
Shisui again felt a slight pain on his chest as the feeling of guilt consumed him. The fact that he failed to save Itachi, who was like a younger brother to him.
'If only I had arrived a little sooner, you would still be alive.' Shisui thought as he looked at Itachi
Nagato on the other hand had a bewildered expression on his face as this was the first time he had witnessed the cold-blooded Itachi show any expressions at all.
Each day in his time in the Akatsuki, Itachi showed no feelings at all. No anger, joy or disgust. He showed absolutely nothing. Yet he saw him smile for the first time after just a few seconds of meeting with Shisui.
"It really is." Shisui replied with a warm smile of his own
'Can you even be this way with a person you betrayed?' Nagato thought as he alternated to look at the two people in front of him.
Nagato had such a thought since he died before it was revealed that Itachi was a spy within their organisation.
"Shisui Uchiha, we meet again." Nagato said to Shisui
"Yeah. Are you going to side with Obito or will you allow yourself to be sealed without causing much trouble." Shisui said as the expression on his face changed and his eyes narrowed.
"Isn't the answer obvious? Although it won't be me who accomplishes it, I can still contribute to my dream of the peaceful world. This was is going on to capture the nine tails and eight tails. As soon as they are captured, Obito will follow my plan and the world will finally become peaceful."
"So to answer your question, I will fight you with everything I have got!" Nagato exclaimed as he got into a stance to fight
"Are you sure? The last time we fought it didn't end well for you." Shisui said as he unsheathed his Tanto from it's scabbard on his back.
"That was because of the interruption from the Nine Tail's Jinchuriki. If he had not interfered with our fight, I am pretty sure you know you would have died instead." Nagato said with a scoff whereas Shisui's expression got hard as he knew that what he was saying was true.
"Itachi. You support me from the sidelines while I fight him." Nagato said as he dashed forward with a speed he would have never been able to utilise when he was alive.
On the other hand, Lightning danced around Shisui's body and sword as he tried to distance himself from Nagato. But as soon as Nagato was just 20 meters away from Shisui..
"Shinra Tensei!!"
A large force was expelled from Nagato's hands which caused Shisui to be sent several kilometers away as he crashed into multiple trees and coughed up a mouthful of blood.
'That caught me off guard. None of the six paths of Pain were this fast!'
Shisui realised that there was a huge power difference between Nagato and Pain.
Not only was he crippled back then and tied to the Gedo Statue, he was beyond malnourished and had to split his chakra and abilities into 6 parts to command the six paths of pain.
But now that he is in a reanimated body, he has endless amount of chakra, a physique with which he will never be tired and can move however he likes as well as all the six abilities of the six paths combined into one.
He could use whichever ability he wanted however he pleased and that too with much more power than before.
'It makes me wonder why he crippled himself by using the Gedo Statue against Hanzo.'
'Let's Focus!'
Shisui closed his eyes and opened them again with a pin wheel pattern on his sharingan.
Even though he did not want to use it, there was simply no other option than to rely on his Mangekyo Sharingan. Right now, it doesn't matter if he turns blind, he needs to give his all in this fight if he wants to survive.
"Summoning Jutsu!" he heard Nagato yell from a distance as a large bull was summoned and headed his way.
"Summoning Jutsu!!" Shisui yelled as well as he for the first time summoned his newly contracted summoning species.
*Poof*
Smoke covered a huge area and a huge claw crashed into the incoming Bull sending it flying away.
Nagato looked at the creature in awe as he sensed the amount of power and bloodlust coming from it which sent a shiver down his spine.
The smoke cleared up slightly to reveal menacing red eyes of the giant creature.
"Awooooo~~"
An incredibly loud howl was heard which would make just about everyone cover their eyes along with a shockwave of wind that cleared up all the remaining smoke in the air giving a perfect view of the beast.
With skin even darker than the night and two long teeth protruding from it's mouth which looked to be sharper than any blade and a pair of deep red eyes filled with menace that would scare almost every soul in this world.
The legendary beast of the wolf tribe Fenriru was summoned into the battlefield.
"Thank you for answering my call master Fenriru." Shisui said to his summoned beast
"Brat! What do you think you are doing summoning me here?!" The wolf exclaimed
"I thought I told you clearly to only call for me if you had an emergency. Yet you call me here to fight a fucking bull!!" Fenriru roared
"....It was a pretty big bull." Shisui pouted
"Spare me the bullshit! I am leaving! I only gave you the permission for calling me just once in your lifetime and you wasted that chance!" Fenriru roared and was going to cancel the summon from his side to go back.
"Wait!! My opponent is over there!" Shisui said as he pointed down at a tree where Nagato stood examining the beast with his eyes.
"Hm?" Fenriru asked and looked at where Shisui was pointing and he saw a thin man in dark red robe, a pair of spiral onion eyes and red hair.
'Red Hair?!' Fenriru exclaimed internally
"His name is Nagato Uzumaki-" Shisui began explaining his powers but was quickly cut off in the middle
"You bastard! Did you suffer a recent blow to you head?!" Fenriru yelled at Shisui. This time however was not only because of anger but there was a slight hint of fear in his tone.
"Huh? How did you know that?" Shisui asked as he thought back to how several minutes ago he crashed head-first into several trees one after another.
"You must have seriously injured your head beyond saving if you thought that a summon beast will be useful against a ninja from the Uzumaki Clan." Fenriru said as he recalled how he made his entire tribe hide from the ninja world after witnessing Ashina Uzumaki's powers.
"Relax. He only knows a single sealing jutsu and that also comes only from his Rinnegan and if it makes you feel any better, the Uzumaki clan has long since been destroyed. There are only a few survivors of the clan here and there but none of them have the same proficiency of sealing jutsus as they did in the past." Shisui said
"That does makes me feel better" Fenriru admitted but a different word in Shisui's statement piqued his interest.
"Rinnegan? I see so this is the person you were talking about back then." Fenriru commented as he observed the man named Nagato Uzumaki properly.
"What the hell! That guy is already dead." muttered Fenriru as he finished observing Nagato.
"Yes. He died in our fight a year ago but was revived using the reanimation jutsu. He now has an undying body and an infinite amount of chakra. The only way for us to defeat him is to injure him physically and seal him while his body is recovering."
"I see. I take back my words, you really had no other choice than to summon me." Fenriru said
"Yeah. Thank-" Shisui replied
"behind you"
Shiusi used body flicker and got out of the way as a kunai almost pierced his heart.
"Yeah. Let's do this first" Shisui said as he appeared a few steps behind Itachi who then engaged him with a hand to hand battle on top off Fenriru's back.
On the other hand Nagato made his move and summoned the rest of his summoning beasts.
*Poof* *Poof* *Poof* *Poof* *Poof* *Poof* *Poof*
One by one, the rest of the 7 animals were summoned.
A giant bird with giant beak, a giant rhino, a giant centipede, a panda, a crab, a multi-headed dog and a crab.
All of those animals started charging towards Fenriru.
Noticing their advance and the incoming tsunami of foam from the crab, Fenriru decided to make his move and suddenly disappeared.
Shisui and Itachi who were fighting on his back started free falling and were directly in the way of that foam.
While Itachi was distracted, Shisui ignored the incoming foam and used the opportunity presented to him and grabbed a hold of his head with one of his arms and made him look directly in his eyes.
The Mangekyo Sharingan spinned wildly as Shisui casted the Kotoamatsukami on Itachi.
He debated whether he should use this on Nagato or Itachi since getting a powerhouse like Nagato on his side will prove to be very useful but decided against it.
After all with Itachi on his side, defeating Nagato will become a child's play and Itachi isn't any less powerful than Nagato. Sure his attack powers need a serious boost but Itachi is way better than him when it comes to being efficient and effective in battle.
Not to mention, Shisui had long since decided that he will use this on Itachi ever since the 4th great ninja war started. He has also decided to use the Kotoamatsukami in his other eye on Obito.
The sudden Genjutsu, made Itachi feel a little wobbly but only for a few seconds.
By that time the huge tsunami of foam had casted it's shadow on the two of them who liked like ants in front of the attack.
Itachi began weaving signs to use his crows to get out of the way but before he could even complete the first hand-sign, a huge black wall emerged from the ground in front of them completely blocking the attack.
*Boom-!* *Boom-!* *Boom-!*
A lot of noise was reverberated across the battlefield.
Being completely confused about what was going on, Itachi used his clones to fly up the black wall in front of him and Shisui did the same to follow him.
And the sight that greeted Itachi was completely out of expectations.
Many black, point and sharp thorns protruded out of the ground stabbing every single one of Nagato's summons.
"Awooo-!!"
He then saw the mythical beast Fenriru holding bird's decapitated head in one of his claws.
*Poof*
With a sudden giant smoke, every single one of the summoned beast left the battle leaving only the monstrous wolf, Nagato, Shisui and himself.
2 highly skilled ninjas who are considered the best of their generation and have reached the level of Kage faster than anyone else in the Leaf Village's history and a mythical beast whose existence he has heard only in the legends and yet...Itachi wasn't confident in winning the fight.
"SHINRA TENSEI!!!" Nagato yelled at the top of his lungs and a huge gravitational push spread in each direction with him at the centre destroying their surroundings completely and creating a huge crater on the ground several kilometers in radius.
Shisui and Itachi both landed in the centre of the crater completely unscathed which was confusing for Nagato who was also present there.
But the confusion wasn't only as to why they were unscathed but because he couldn't understand why Itachi was siding with Shisui.
However this confusion turned into anger instantly as Nagato spoke while gnashing his teeth, "Itachi! Are you going to betray the Akatsuki?! What do you think you are doing?!"
"I was never loyal to the Akatsuki in the first place." Itachi replied calmly, "You died before Obito found out that I was a spy inside the Akatsuki."
"What?!....I see so that was how you died. I only hope that Obito took his sweet time killing you."
"He did." Itachi replied as he remembered how he lost against Obito that day.
Shisui on the other hand was getting angry at Nagato's comments but held his anger inside.
"My goal back then was to infiltrate the Akatsuki as a spy but now.....I am not bound by anything. Everything I do from here on is of my own free will. And I have decided to stop you and put an end to this war!" Itachi said determination completely visible in his eyes.
He was finally free of his mission, the village, the Akatsuki. Nothing bound him anymore and he could finally do what his heart wants.
'I will see you one last time after this is over'
"Hahaha. You think you can win against me?!" Nagato said
"It is not about whether I can win against you" A red and green hue surrounded Itachi and Shisui respectively. Fenriru emerged from the ground behind Itachi and Shisui.
"We will win against you!" Itachi declared
"I see. THEN COME AT ME!!" Nagato yelled and fight resumed
