14 Chapter 14 : Land of Rain

"Come with me! Come with me ! Hehe."

"Leave me alone! It's not my fault you're dead! You wanted to kill me!"

"Hehe come with us! Come with us!"

"I only defended myself! Let me go! Leave me!"

Mihara suddenly opened his eyes and looked at the campfire in front of him before sighing.

"Do you have nightmares often?"

Mihara sat with his back to a large tree and facing the campfire and looked at the kunoichi on his left who was part of the 8 person unit he had been assigned to.

"Yes."

He answered slowly before turning his gaze to the campfire, the kunoichi of about 16, she looked at Mihara for a moment and leaned back against the tree closing her eyes.

"If you can't sleep take my shift, I'll be grateful."

Mihara didn't speak, he only nodded as the kunoichi quickly fell asleep.

It had been two days since he left Konoha, he was assigned to a support unit that had to go to the land of rain to support the ninjas in charge of defending the front line near in a town of the land of rain.

He got up and walked around the camp and noticing that almost everyone was asleep, he drew his sword strapped to his back and began his daily training.

He continued his training waving his sword in front of him and concentrating his chakra on it for almost three hours before stopping at dawn as his chakra reserve were almost exhausted.

"It's been almost four months."

He sighed as he watched the sun rise over the horizon with a wistful look.

He missed his old life, although this world had many interesting things like chakra, strange techniques, a full-fledged civilization worth studying and many other distractions, he didn't feel at home, only the memory he inherited from his young predecessor allowed him to adapt to the environment of this world.

He hated training, he hated fighting, he hated killing, he just wanted to go back to his old life as a teacher without worries, he just wanted to read the books he wanted to read and correct the papers of his students, he just wanted to sleep peacefully without having nightmares, without seeing the faces of the starving children on his way home or the people he killed.

He liked his old life, simple, carefree, where he did not have to risk his life.

He hoped every time he fell asleep that it was all a dream and that he would wake up in his bed, but it was only wishful thinking.

He was in this new Roman world of danger where he could die at any moment, he had to become stronger, to work hard so that one day he could find a way to return home or at least to stop fighting was his goal.

Mihara's face became more determined as he clutched the eppee in his hand.

He went back to rest and an hour later, the team prepared to break camp, they erased the traces of their passage then continued to advance jumping from tree to tree at full speed.

"Little guy, you look nervous, is this your first time on the battlefield?"

Mihara looked at the man about twenty years old on his left who was moving at the same pace as him and shook his head.

"You're not very talkative, but don't be too worried if you have any problems come to me I'll be happy to give you my help."

"Say the person who almost fell into a hole dug by Suna genin."

Hearing the sarcasm of the 16 year old kunoichi everyone laughed and the man blushed with shame.

"Ina you promised me you wouldn't talk about it in person!"

"Don't worry Komuro, I only told this story to half of my friends."

Ina said with a mischievous smile as Komuro looked away with embarrassment and anger.

"Mihara do you want to hear the glorious story of your friendly semnpai komuro?"

"Ina!!!

"Alright, alright I won't thumilize in front of our kouhai."

Everyone laughed again including the captain of the unit a man in his forties with thick eyebrows named Kondo Shoraku.

Mihara also guessed a little "story" through the weak clue that Ina gave and smiled slightly.

It is in this light atmosphere that the unit reached the border of the Land of Rain two days later.

And as soon as they arrived, they realized that the name "Land of Rain" was truly deserved.

On their way they passed through burned villages and destroyed cities, which made Mihara frown as another ninja from the team patted his shoulder with a comforting look.

"Don't worry we're evacuating all the civilians from the area before we act."

"You mean this was caused by Konoha?"

The man hearing Mihara's question and seeing her confused look nodded heavily.

"They were hindering our strategy and the existence of towns and fortresses in that area was a danger to the second front line and our supply route."

Mihara nodded, but his next question made his partner pale slightly.

"No civilians were hurt?"

"There were a few... small incidents and accidents."
