Ch 21 : Gap

No matter how hard Tenma tried to attack, they were all easily blocked by Law. But this did not make him feel discouraged.

Law, after all, is a big guy that would soon beat a Yonko with Captain Kid.

Even at his best condition, Tenma at most had the combat ability of a chunin, and it is too hopeful of hoping that Law would be serious.

Therefore, Tenma just did what he could and didn't force himself to beat Law.

In just half an hour, Tenma has shown his full capability, whether it is the black leg style learned from Sanji, some basic ninjitsu, or even the chakra manipulation to boost his movement. But none of them seemed to have fazed Law.

Well, except for the ninjutsu part where Tenma could see Law's eyes glimmer a bit whenever he used Ninjutsu.

Then, after Tenma's physical strength and Chakra was finally exhausted, Law finally stopped this first training session.

"Well, your strength is not bad. Even when I was your age, I don't think I could beat you in a spar."

"but..."

Law extended his finger and said: "But I could see that your previous teacher, that Black Leg, must have slack you a lot considering you are still a little kid. Moreover, you lacked experience and had never been in a real battle before. During a battle, this might prove to be fatal as it may lead to you overestimating your strength."

Tenma was speechless. What Law said had directly struck all the main points. He could only stay silent and wait for Law to finish his words.

"However, these flaws are normal. After all, you have never been to a real battlefield, just a little game with other kids. Thus, in the next period of time, I will help you to learn how a real battlefield works.

Once we finished our surgery training, we would spar every day. There I would not hold back too much except for not killing you. And after that, you are free to heal your injury with your medical jutsu."

This way, Tenma's hellish training with Law soon began.

Morning surgery lecture, afternoon spar, and Evening self-repentance.

This continued for a while, and without realizing a year had passed since Tenma began this hellish training session with Law.

The immature brat had matured a lot, and now, as usual, he was sparing with Law.

"Concassé"

Leaping high into the air, Tenma started flipping rapidly to gain speed.

Then as he found himself getting closer to Law, he brought the heels of his feet down, striking full of power at Law's head.

CLANG!!!!

Once again, Tenma's attack was blocked.

But this time, Law used the sheathe of his sword to block this attack.

" Not bad. You use the chakra to accelerate and use the momentum to strike. Still…"

Then, Law finally moved from his original position.

He blinked, and as he reappeared, he was already behind Tenma.

" Don't you think it is not enough?"

Law put his Sword right next to Tenma, ready to end this battle as usual.

His posture was cool as he put one of his hands inside the pocket, while the other one held the sword was swung toward Tenma.

But this time, Tenma certainly exceeded Law's expectations.

When Law thought he would start to give up like usual, Tenma suddenly moved.

Law's sword did hit Tenma, but it didn't give Law the result that he expected.

Tenma gritted his teeth. He felt a few of his bones were broken from blocking Law's attack with his body. Yet, it was way too early to give up.

Utilizing the fact that Law was caught by surprise, Tenma knew it was his chance.

One attack which was now or never.

He jumped into the air and utilized the friction between the air and his feet. Flames began to grow surrounding his feet.

But if Law thinks that's all, then he was fully wrong.

" Diable Jamble Flambage Shot!"

While in the air, Tenma's feet fell with a rapid speed at Law.

And though it was so subtle, Law could feel that in a millisecond, Tenma's leg had turned black for a bit. Giving him the feeling that Tenma had unconsciously turned on Haki.

A smile quickly rose on Law's face.

It was like the feeling of seeing a little fledgling finally flap his wing and fly.

And as his teacher, he definitely wouldn't disappoint.

Though Tenma's attack was fast, an attack from a person without observation Haki was still too easy to avoid.

Law just tilted his head for a bit, and Tenma completely missed his target.

But the real deal had only come next.

For the first time since they began their spar, Law finally unsheathed his sword, and in quick succession, black armament Haki coated the sword.

" Tenma, I will now show you the real gap between us. Embedded this deep into your memory, and use this as motivation to get stronger."

" Room!"

" Amputate!"

Here, for the first time since he came to this place, Tenma felt the endless white Space had shaken a bit, and it was because of Law's attack.
