Grand Hall, Daimyo's Castle

[Mitsu]

.

"It's been a long time…" I said as I looked around the castle hall, reminiscing my first few years of life in the Ninja world.

Even though I didn't particularly enjoy the stay here, this still was one of my memorable places.

"This is where you grew up, Master?" Haku asked from behind. She too was looking around the castle, trying to remember every corner and keeping tabs on all hidden Ninjas around.

"Indeed… I forgot none of you actually came to the castle before. I spent my early childhood here."

My three minions nodded at that and continued to do their job.

Only they were with me now.

Tsunade-neechan, Old man Sarutobi, Aki Da Baki, Mother and Hakune-neechan with their guards and servants were in their own waiting chambers.

"How many people usually attend the Grand Council?" Ichi asked from the side.

"Well the last Grand Council occurred when I was 5, and it was mainly to pass down and discuss some trading laws, and to prosecute a traitor noble clan. And at that time most of the Noble clans were in attendance.

You simply can not ignore your Daimyo's order for the Council to gather. As the Council itself can only gather if there is a pressing issue to be discussed. So almost all Noble Family and an attendant will be present." I clarified.

"But do the prince and princesses always need to attend?" Haku asked with wonder.

"No" I shook my head.

My features became playful.

"Only the crowned prince is supposed to attend. Of course, there are always some exceptions. One of them is if one of the princes or princesses have done something, good or bad, to be summoned by the Council

Or… To change the crown prince altogether."

Haku and Ichi nodded at that. While Fuzzy kept his indifferent, dead eyed face. But don't get him wrong. That S.o.B was keeping tabs on every insect in the surroundings.

After that, we quickly arrived at the Grand Council Hall, which was located at the back of the Castle.

It was a ginormous Hall, with a seating arrangement like the congress.

There were zabutons (Japanese sitting mat) spread out in a semi-circular shape facing towards the northern end of the room. And in the middle of the northern end was a raised platform where another zabuton was spread where the Daimyo would sit.

Around the Daimyo's Zabuton were 10 other Zabutons, for the Daimyo's advisors, and important elders of the Nation.

On the other side, the first row consisted of the Royal family members, Great Noble Clans, The Hokage, The Fire Temple's Abbot and the Head of the Samurai Corp.

After that the rows are filled by High Nobles, Big Merchant Family Heads, Lower Nobles and other important personnel.

And the last row is for families that had earned the spot, or people who were invited to be rewarded or inaugurated as new nobility.

I could see that most of the back rows had already been filled, and the front row was only half way filled.

As I started moving towards my seat, I could feel all eyes on me, as most of the nobles bowed in greetings. Though, a few had grim faces as they stared at me.

I didn't mind though. No matter what they were planning, it won't really affect me.

Only Fuzzy was going to seat behind me as my attendant, so Ichi and Haku took their positions on the parameters of the hall with the other guards.

No one tried to talk to me as I made my way forward.

But before I could sit, an old monk stopped me.

"God is merciful, greetings Mitsu-sama. This is our first time meeting one another, so let me introduce myself, I am Chiriku, the head monk of the Fire Temple."

"Greetings, Head monk. It is a pleasure to meet you." I greeted him with a smile.

I don't really know this dude, but I do remember him a bit from the anime. He had that sick thousand hand thingy technique.

Lemme check!

'Ah, so it's that welcoming approach technique… Hmm… Not bad. It's an A rank. But it's not my type of skill.'

"Indeed a pleasure. I have heard of your learning prowess, Mitsu-sama. Truly marvelous. If you want to learn some of our Jutsus, please do come by." He said with a smile.

"I will. Thank you for the invitation, Chiriku-dono." I replied politely.

After that, he bowed to me before returning to his seat.

Seeing nothing else stopping me, I did the same and found my seat.

I looked around me and found my mother's and Hakune-Neechan's seat empty. My brother's seat was empty as well.

But I just shrugged at that, thinking they would arrive sooner or later.

I was going to start checking the nobles to see if they have anything useful for me to borrow, when I saw someone seating beside me on my brother's seat.

Puzzled, I gave the dude a raised brow, as I couldn't recognize the guy.

But before I could even say anything.

"Shouldn't you at least greet your elder brother, Mitsu…" The dude scrunched his nose.

Elder brother? But this wasn't…

OH RIGHT!

I felt as if a bulb went off over my head.

This was my second brother!

Yes, yes!

Man, I hadn't seen him in years and I almost couldn't recognize him.

Umm… What was his name again…?

Gah whateves! I always called him second brother anyway.

"Oh second brother, how have you been? It's been a long time since we saw each other." I said with a gentle smile.

He sneered at my friendliness.

Rude.

"So you know how to call me brother, do you? When you don't even reply to my letters… I had sent you a few over the years… But you had ignored me every time. It was Nee-sama who replied in your stead. Hmph." He genuinely looked angry.

But I felt a bit awkward…

Because I had no idea, he even sent me letters… After all, if I see a letter that I don't recognize the name of, I usually throw them away. I have lots of fans after all…

"Unno… Sorry?" I rubbed the back of my head as I chuckled awkwardly.

"Hmph! Cut the crap. Now listen. I had been in the city so I know that Yashiro has been plotting against you for a while. Your name is quite big even here, so he feels threatened. He has brought out many false testimonies against you and even promised the Wind Daimyo, for your hand in marriage to his granddaughter, so you can't be a threat to his crowning.

But don't worry, as he wasn't weary of me, I with your supporters and my own connections, had found definite proof of Yashiro's black marks, and had presented them to father before the Council. But still, you should be careful… I heard rumors that Yashiro planned on marrying Nee-sama to the Abe heir.

He hadn't managed to convince Nee-sama, but if he becomes the Daimyo, he might just force her… I don't want to let that happen." My second brother said righteously.

I was staring at him with an opened mouth…

The hell?

Since when was my second brother so active?

I mean, I already knew all that my brother just said, and my clones and spies had already collected more than enough evidence against Yashiro, not to mention the Abe clan…

Those Apes are going to lose their noble status in this council.

My sister is one of those people that are close to my heart, and like hell I would let those ape shits even get a glimpse of her!

But still.

Damn son! My brother, whose name I still don't remember, turned out ok!

I was truly touched.

Even though our relationship wasn't that close, as I don't even remember him properly. And yet, he did all that. For me?

So I had to ask.

"Why are you doing all this?" I was only curious, I wasn't really suspicious of him.

My brother closed his mouth and looked at the ceiling as if pondering something.

It didn't take him long as he started, "I… I know, I am not someone our family actually cares about…

I am kind of invisible to everyone.

Whether it's father, who has a hard time in court because his personality wasn't made to deal with sly nobles. So I never really expected him to notice me.

Mother, who loves you enough to tread the seven hells without any hesitation. Sometimes forget she has 2 other sons.

Nee-sama, who was the only one who actually loved me when we were younger, and played with me whenever she could, but even she loved you more as she took the first chance to go live with you and mother...

Then there is Yashiro-Anisama, who thinks I am beneath trash…

And then… There is you… Who doesn't even know of my existence." He looked at me sharply as he said that.

I was surprised, but I couldn't deny it.

Indeed, I was that colossal jackass who never even acknowledged that I had a second brother…

Not knowing his name is the definite proof of that.

"Don't refute it. I noticed your hesitance earlier when I sat next to you. I am pretty sure even you had forgotten that you had 2 brothers…" He shook his head, self-deprecatingly.

I clenched my fist, as I actually felt a bit hurt.

But he didn't let me apologize.

"Don't worry, it doesn't matter… Even though my family ignores my existence. I still love you all…

I am a simple man.

I don't want to be Daimyo.

I don't want to deal with all this politics.

I simply want to live a normal life, where I can continue with my hobby of painting and writing songs…

And honestly, I appreciate what you have done for the nation… For the people. For the children. I admire how you have advanced this society with your ideas.

Yes, I know… I know about most of your exploits.

Others might not keep tabs. But I do. And Mitsu…"

He looked at me with soft eyes as he smiled.

"I am proud to be your brother."

I didn't have anything to say to Mashiro.

Yes Mashiro… My brother's name was Mashiro.

After Mashiro said what he wanted to say, he squeezed my shoulder before getting up and going to his seat, which apparently was in the back row.

He noticed my raised brow, and answered my unasked question.

"You don't have to worry about me being an obstacle for your succession. Yesterday, I gave up my rights as a prince, and father has inducted me as a new Noble."

He smiled.

"I know you will lead us to a better future, Mitsu. And I, will support you all the way."

Saying so he walked away, where some people greeted him politely, even though he was no longer a prince.

I kept watching with a complicated gaze.

"Are you alright, Mitsu-sama?" Fuzzy asked softly.

I sighed as I looked back towards the platform, as my face became serious.

"Remember Fuzzy, anything is possible… When you have the right people there to support you… And your family… Is your biggest supporter…"

Fuzzy nodded at my word. But said nothing, as he knew I wasn't finished.

"And I have done my family wrong, Fuzzy… May heaven, God or whoever is out there forgive me." I said slowly, as I waited for the Council to commence.

It didn't take long, in 10 minutes, most of the people entered, including my mother and sister, the Great Clan Leaders, Ninja or Civilian, the dignitaries and even Yashiro…

I was extra irritated at Yashiro, after talking to Mashiro-Niisan. And when he gave me his disgusting smirk, I felt a tic on my forehead.

I asked Fuzzy behind me.

"Is everything ready?"

"Everything is ready as you ordered." He replied.

"Excellent!" I smirked back at Yashiro, which puzzled him a bit, but he simply huffed before sitting beside me.

He didn't say anything and waited with me.

Soon my father, the Daimyo entered with the Elders, the Advisors and the rest of the 12 Guardian Ninjas.

He took his seat, and looked different from usual.

He looked serious.

'He must be furious at the shit Yashiro pulled.' I thought inside my head.

And as I thought, he first glared at Yashiro before he swept his gaze over the hall.

He took the gavel and hit the small table in front of him 3 times before he declared.

"I the Daimyo, hereby declare the 42nd Grand Council to Begin!"
