"Even if they can't punish you! The Water Daimyo will never recognize you as the Kage! And you will not receive any support from the people!"

To the old advisor's surprise and despair, the prince said something that he never thought he would hear…

"Huh? Who said I would be the next Mizukage? Like hell, I would do this boring job!" The prince said in annoyance and a bit of disgust.

"""Huh?!!"" Mei and Utakata seemed to have the same reaction as the old advisor.

What in the name of GOD is this youngling thinking...

After the meeting with Mitsu~

Location: Temporary Base of the former Resistance

[General]

.

After meeting Mitsu, Mei and the others were returning to their temporary base. As they took in the sights of the repair being done in the ruins of Yagura's wrath.

The village was being repaired fast. What an amazing sight it was. Many of Mitsu's clones were busy at work. Using their wood style, they almost completely restored a part of the village, fixing the accommodation crisis single handedly.

The young prince was getting really popular due to that. But for the attentive observer, they would notice that there was no smile on the faces of the prince's clones. No one had ever seen the prince being this serious before. Not even during the fight with Yagura…

Even Mei, who had only known Mitsu for a while, realized that something was amiss. But she simply couldn't put her finger on it.

But ultimately, she was grateful. As were all the people of Kiri.

'At this rate, we should have a good base to rebuild the village on… He is even installing sewage and water systems while creating the houses… Such uniformity… At this rate, this will end up being a few times better than the old village…' She thought with a heavy heart, while marveling at the sight.

It irked her a bit. Knowing an outsider was making all the betterment of their village where their own had failed…

"There is no such thing as an end. Every end is just the start of a new beginning…" Mei muttered the words absentmindedly.

"His words stuck to you, huh?"

Mei turned to realize that Utakata was also observing the village with her.

"Did I say that out loud?" Mei asked with a muffled chuckle.

"That you did. But I don't blame you. After all, I am witnessing the same miracle." Utakata said with an emotional tone.

'Yes, only one word could define what we were witnessing. 'A miracle.'' Mei's emotions surged.

Silence ensued between them, even the grumpy old advisor kept mum. It was easy to notice that the old man was truly nervous after the meeting.

After all, Mitsu told them a lot of things, and most of it was unbelievable yet daunting, for someone like him.

'You will soon find that the 'Daimyo' has some very favorable impression of me.' Those were the last words the Prince spoke after he dismissed the advisor. And it terrified him to the core.

Because, the only reason he was here was to reiterate how unimpressed the Daimyo was of the prince. But when he saw the smirk on the prince's face, something told him that the prince wasn't lying.

"Do you believe what he said?" Utakata abruptly asked the question, breaking the silence.

"Which one? He said a lot…" Mei said with an amused chuckle.

"That he will hand over the Kage title to someone of the village?" Utakata said frowning.

He knew that there was no way someone who had put that much effort, while also being stronger than all of them, would just hand over his supposed 'prize'. The world didn't work like that. And being raised in Kiri, he couldn't fathom someone doing something without an ulterior motive.

'…' Mei took a second to gather her thoughts. Then she answered with a chuckle,

"Honestly?... I believe him." Mei's answer surprised both Utakata and the Advisor.

"You got to be kidding me! Girl, that child basically threatened the Daimyo as if he was talking about breakfast, just to make a point. And you truly believe he will simply give up the Kage seat?" The old advisor snorted in rage.

He was fuming.

"Maybe… He will instill a puppet Kage?" Utakata mused. That was the most likely conclusion for him.

But Mei shook her head.

"I don't think so… From what I know about him… he actually cares about the people… Just remember all he did since he came to the Water Country. So I don't think this is a ploy… But we will know soon. He did promise that we will soon hear from the Daimyo. How he knows that is beyond me, but we will wait and see…" Mei replied.

The other two could only nod their heads. They knew it was beyond them.

They started walking towards their base as night covered Kirigakure. What the future held for them, only time would tell.

Next Morning~

In the makeshift main tent, all the important people of the resistance were in attendance. They were still using a tent, as they were put outside the village for now for security reasons.

The higher ups of the resistance were discussing the future while waiting for the Daimyo's messenger.

"When is the messenger coming Mei-sama?" Asked one of the Resistance leaders.

"He should be here soon, just be patient."

"I really hope the Daimyo simply threatens that demon to leave our lands. I am sure he has already notified the Fire Daimyo about his son's unruly behavior… No way in hell are we letting a tree hugger be our Kage…" Grumbled an old Ninja.

"I would be careful of what I say, Kagari-san, this is someone who has the whole civilian population backing him after what he did for them." Interjected Ao with some hostility reeking off his tone.

Ao was regarded as many things. But no one could deny his love for the water country and her people. So, it was easy for him to get angry when someone would suggest something that could create unrest.

He couldn't help it. Watching the idiocy of these old ninjas was a hard thing to do.

"Bah! This is a ninja village! Why should we care about the civilians?" Retorted the same person.

But he was thrown out of the tent by an angry Mei.

"Why care about the civilians? Are you fu**ing kidding me? Where do you think your salary comes from you imbecile? Where do you think the food you eat comes from? And who do you think funds the village?

I can't believe we have idiots like you among our ranks…" Mei said in annoyance.

She was about to dish out more, but was interrupted by an ANBU.

The ANBU announced the arrival of the messenger from the Daimyo.

"Oh he is here, is he? Then send him in quickly." Mei ordered.

Soon a man entered the tent and greeted the room, before unfurling a scroll and started reading. He was quite fast to do so, without uttering a single nonsense.

"Greetings, I Kondo Hiromu, declare-"

Before the messenger could complete the sentence, the Old Advisor interrupted him.

"Hold up boy! What is the meaning of this? Why is young prince Hiromu-sama addressing us? What happened to Hikameshi-sama?"

*Cough*

The messenger cleared his throat and glared at the advisor, who interrupted him. Making the old advisor shut up in an instant. He realized what he did could be considered insubordination.

The bearer of the Daimyo's decree was to be treated as the Daimyo himself after all.

"As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted.

I, Kondo Hiromu, declare that I have taken the seat of the Daimyo of our beloved Land of Water, after my father's abdication of the throne by preference. And I declare with all my resolve that I will be taking care of my people with all my abilities,

With my new advisors, and my new lifelong friend, the Prince of Fire country, Kaneko Mitsu. Who has graciously offered his help in return of a lifelong alliance and friendly relationship with the Land of Fire.

I am proud to announce that the Land of Fire will forever be our allies, as long as I, Kondo Hiromu and Prince Kaneko Mitsu, stay as friends.

We shall bring the land of water to a new age, with his brilliance and my tenacity. May the Land of Water and Land of Fire live long and prosper.

Now, I have a few declarations.

First of all, I declare the war of blood in my precious country over. With the death of the villain Yagura, we shall hail in a new era of prosperity. No longer shall our precious defenders be known as the people of the bloody mist.

No, I shall vehemently fight against anyone who shall refer to my people as such.

But, my dear friend has so boldly declared that to celebrate our new friendship of nations, we shall be known as the people of Tranquil Mist.

Like water, my people shall strive towards peace, and our Ninjas shall protect said peace so that my people may live their lives without tension.

Secondly,….." Everyone was stunned when they heard what the messenger said.

The old advisor almost choked to death when he heard the lifelong friend part of the message, while Mei was doing her best to stop her giggles.

The messenger continued his speech, and everyone kept getting stunned. Most of the things on the list were too good to be true, but it also reminded of one fire prince through and through.

There was no longer any doubt in anyone's mind that what Mitsu declared yesterday was no joke…

He had already taken over the county of water, through the new Daimyo…

But it wasn't all bad, it was clear that he was doing his best to help the people. But what he will do to the people in power, now that was a new question.

"Finally, it came to my attention that our precious Ninja village, Kirigakure, is without a leader at the moment.

So, I had deliberately taken all the information into consideration, including the recent events that occurred in the blood wars.

I have a shortlist of candidates for the fifth Mizukage spot, though I was reluctant to consider some people as they didn't have enough experience. But with the commendation of my good friend, I have decided to appoint a temporary Mizukage. And if they decide to keep this position in the future, then they need to make an appointment with us, and we shall decide.

For the time being, I, with my power as the Daimyo, declare Terumi Mei as the temporary Kage of the Hidden Mist Village, until further notice, it shall fall under your shoulder to restore the system.

But my good friend has assured me that he would help you any way he can.

And, if you, Terumi Mei, decide to continue your tenure as the Kage, then you shall write a formal request to me within the year's end.

Kondo Hiromu, Daimyo of the Land of Water."

*Silence*

Even the messenger knew that this was a lot to take in. So he stood to the side as he watched everything happening.

It was indeed a colorful sight. Many of the older Ninja's were making weird faces as they were speechless.

Mei had a thoughtful look on her face.

Utakata was smirking as he continued smoking. This was all too amusing for him.

The silence was broken by Mei.

"What happened to the former Daimyo?"

"Answering to Mizukage-sama, the former Daimyo-sama and his family bar Hiromu-sama, have taken a permanent vacation in the Land of Honey, in request of Hiromu-sama and sponsored by Kaneko-sama." The messenger answered.

Mei's eyes started twitching. Everyone else was speechless.

'Sponsored by Kaneko-sama? That's practically saying the Prince sent them in exile in a nice way… Sigh.,. What will this mean for me? Will he try to control me?' Mei thought but shook her head instantly.

She already noticed that no matter what Mitsu was. He was still helping the people. He single handedly fixed a famine that was bound to happen but didn't because of his aid… That brought a lot of hope in her heart.

The messenger then seemed to remember something and took out another smaller scroll as he gave it to the old advisor.

"Samurai Keitaku. You have been ordered to take a permanent vacation with his former majesty in the land of Honey. Well that's all I had to do." The messenger said with a nasty smirk.

The old advisor looked pale… as he kept silent with the new orders in hand.

But apparently the shock was too much for the old man. As he soon fainted and was being carried out by some ANBU.

Mei was speechless yet again, and felt a bit pity for the old man but quickly resolved herself.

'I guess, I will see where this road leads…' Her heart hardened.

Utakata looked at Mei and smiled as he said, "Saiken said that you should trust the boy… He is already powerful enough to take whatever he wants, and yet he decided to help the people of a country that was practically his enemies…"

"I… I guess you are right." Mei said as she looked at the appointment scroll thoughtfully, before shouting to the dazed people.

"Stop loitering around! We got work to do!"

"""YES MIZUKAGE-SAMA!"""

[A/N: Hey there beautiful people!

Yes, the new Daimyo is practically a puppet. No, he couldn't place his own people as the Mizukage. It would have created many questions and complications in the political part of the world, as people would start to think that the land of fire was trying to take over the world. So Mitsu got a proper alliance out of this that is massively in his favor.
