Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 45: Mission back to Konoha

Chapter 45: Mission back to Konoha

As we were moving back to the village in formation, I couldn't help but stay extremely vigilant.

It just didn't make sense…sure, I might have been the strongest Genin here but there were Elire Jonins here that would crush me!

I probably would breath too hard and sensei could snap my neck.

So why the hell did I carry the 2 Tailed Jinchuriki?

"So what is in the package?" Kiba, who was tied to my team, asked as he ran closer to me.

"I don't know."

"Come on, aren't you the least bit curious?" "BARK!"

"Not really, we are ninjas and we are expected to follow orders."

"Tch, you're no fun."

I had to remember, while I was mentally a couple of years older, these guys were still just teens…well that being said I am 16 in my world, and due to time conversion, they would outgrow me.

I looked at the font to see Asuma's squad running, and I was able to slightly sense ahead due to my shadow senses.

Since the land of fire was mostly filled with trees, its shade provided me comfort.

Seeing as I was actually not keen on interacting with him, Kiba ran ahead to go talk to Ayumi as Yuki came to the back.

"So how was your conversation with Ayumi?" He asked.

" She seems to be more serious about the game due to the EXP feature."

"Well, it makes sense. I wanted to ask, do you think I should cash in the game as an investment?"

I looked towards him in slight shock…I didn't even begin to consider if Yuki would have money to splurge.

I myself was going to wait a couple of weeks in real world time before asking my brother for some money, since we only recently began to get money.

I started this game to earn, and instead found out something potentially world ending.

"Can you afford to?"

"I mean my family isn't rich, but we are comfortable."

Spoken like every rich person.

"So, how much are you thinking about investing?"

"About 400 EXP, enough to awaken the 3 tomoe Sharingan and reach the peak of Chunin rank."

400 EXP… for people if they bought the cheapest food available that would be 2 months of food.

To be able to splurge that much.

"You live on the surface? Which town?" I asked.

"I do, at Sprouts Haven. How about you?"

"Radiant Haven…by the way do you have the latest tier of…" before I could finish he interrupted me.

"I got that recently! My father bought it for my birthday, I didn't even have to ask him!"

Well, that shit costs 50,000 Credits so it is safe to say he is definitely in the higher ranks of humanity.

But it did seem weird that the equipment was being given so easily…did this happen to all influential people's kids? Did they know about the Naurto world being real?

"Sure then, invest. We can start your personal quest soon."

He nodded, and while running connected his bank account to the game while chasing in the game.

"Done." He told me, and I used Shadow sense to sense his strength.

He did feel stronger than 1 minute ago.

I didn't dare to use this on the Jonin in case they were able to tell and I got in trouble.

"What rank should I take for the personal quest?" He asked.

"S-rank." I immediately replied.

"Are you sure? What if it is something we cannot finish." He questioned in shock.

"We will finish it, we don't really have a choice."

"What do you mean?" He asked in confusion.

"I mean, if you take a lower rank quest you might get left behind by other players."

He paused for a moment and thought about it, since this did dictate a lot of things. There were a handful of casual players that ended up taking B-rank quests and were hard stuck in them, unable to advance in strength.

"I think I will go for the A-rank one instead…I am sorry. I just do not see the point in potentially being stuck in the Chunin rank. From what I see, even guild masters have been taking the A-rank quest ever since one of them got their requirements for the S-rank quest."

"Oh? And what was the requirement for their S-rank quest?"

"To be able to defeat 1000 Chunin at the same time."

That made sense, it was basically impossible for players who didn't only constantly grind their skills for months on end and have some forbidden jutsu.

But if Yuki didn't get a divine aspect….

There was nothing I could do though. It is not like I can convince him the world is in danger with aspects becoming reality.

He wouldn't believe me anyway.

And if they didn't, I am sure now that the guild masters who have completed their quest and got the Full-Dive equipment should be awakening their Aspects and know about them more.

From then on, word will slowly spread and everyone in the world will gun for these powers.

"Fine, take the A-rank Quest." I relented.

Yuki nodded and accepted the A-rank quest.

"Oh this doesn't seem hard, it says I need to get a pair of Sharingan from a person who is alive."

As I heard that, my mind went into all possible thoughts about how that was possible.

Of the people who I knew were alive and currently had Sharingan, 2 were with me.

But Kakashi only had 1 eye, and it was not like he couldn't destroy me in a fight.

Sasuke had both, but he was vital for the end game, and I didn't want to think about how Itachi would react.

Itachi himself… that would be scary. Dying breath or not, Itachi Uchiha is not someone I would want to go against right now.

Then there is Obito, but he also only has 1 eye.

Madara and Nagato were out too.

Pedomaru and Danzo should have some stored, but they were also out of my league.

Maybe it was a good thing that Yuki didn't take the S-rank quest, this one seemed harder than mine already. It would have been easier if this was just about fighting.

"Don't worry Shikomu, this one isn't too hard." Yuki said as he saw me in thought.

"What do you mean? You got a plan?"

"Kind off, in root, at least 50 people had the eyes, we just have to track one and take the pair."

Right, the Root also was beginning to work on the surface, and since they believe they brian washed Yuki (you can't alter memories of a player), they should think they have done so for other players too.

"Do you know any people?"

"I don't know any of their names, everyone was addressed by a number. But I do know where 1 guy was sent since I overheard some guy with bandages talking about it."

Realizing he was probably talking about Danzo, I warily asked, "And where is that?"

"The Anbu."

The Anbu huh… it didn't seem like the absolute worst case scenario.

"Shikomu Nara." I heard a cold, emo voice call out to me which pulled me out of my thoughts.

Turning to my right, I saw Sasuke approach me, breaking the formation, but Kakashi seemed to have given him permission since he just politely nodded at me from a distance while stopping Naruto from joining him.

"What is it?"

"I wanted to thank you for the mission earlier. You and Naruto saved me." He admitted, although while grinding his teeth.

"It's fine, it was nothing." I told him nonchalantly.

"But remember this." Sasuke said which got my attention again.

"I will defeat you one day, that I promise in my clan's honor." He said his peace before returning to his formation, and as he reached back his squad, Kakashi let Naruto go who charged towards me like a bull.

"SHIKOMUUUUU!"
