So, over this period of time, we've just been doing a lot of E and D rank missions. They were just simple tasks like cleaning someone's house or cutting grass. I thought as I was currently training.

Also today, I'm going to meet up with Kakashi's team, this is where I'll meet the future fourth Hokage.

There's another thing which I've been trying to learn from Kushina too, which is fuinjutsu. But I haven't even learnt the basics yet since I need proficiency in calligraphy. Then I need to learn how to do calligraphy with my chakra.

I'm just taking baby steps right now and it's not something I need to rush, it will come with time.

After I was done with my meditation, I quickly put on my clothes. Then I hurriedly walked towards where I was to be today.

Sitting inside a shop were two groups of people which had an adult in each, they were all eating ramen.

A man who had a seemingly innocent face and blonde spiky hair was chatting happily with Kushina. It's like they knew each other on a personal level.

"So this is your so-called prodigy you've been talking to me about?" Minato asked curiously while glancing at Yokuma with squinted eyes.

"Yeah he is, I bet he could even compare to the likes of Kakashi's genius soon," Kushina stated proudly.

"No, he won't, Kakashi is the best genius of this village." A seemingly childish voice interfered.

Kushina just looked at Minato in the eyes with a smirk while he did the same too. They seemed to talk to each other without speaking.

"Pfft... I can't believe you have this kind of team Minato, it is interesting." Kushina yelled loudly while holding in a laugh.

"Yeah me too." Minato awkwardly said while scratching the back of his head.

"I just hope you can keep them under control though." Kushina this time spoke with a serious voice while giving him a deep look. This just gained a nod from him as he went to slurp his ramen.

While the two adults were conversing, the children started too as well.

"So have you guys been on any cool missions lately," Obito asked with a face full of desperation.

"No, we've just been cleaning people's houses, babysitting or other stuff. Urgh!.. So annoying sometimes, I want to go out and do some real ninja stuff." Kibira yelled.

"It's not fair, Kakashi's already been on a lot," Obito stated with a fire lit in his eyes. Kibira just stared at Kakashi after this.

"Wait!.. You've already been on a few?" She asked with expectation.

"Yeah, I've been on a lot of them with my dad," Kakashi replied in a bored tone.

"No way!... What were they like?... Cool right, I bet!" Kibira desperately probed.

"No... Far from cool." He replied again but with a cold voice to which everybody just raised an eyebrow.

"He's right you know, this shinobi business is far from cool," Minato stated with a stern voice.

"Get your head in the game because soon your whole perspective of life will change and you can never go back."

--POV MC--

While everyone else was talking, I was thinking about the C rank mission we were going to get soon. I am already preparing for the worst.

Anything could happen in a mission... It could go from a C rank to an A in a blink of an eye. You can never be too cautious.

Even Kakashi's way of carrying himself from when he was fresh meat before is a lot different. He's stained with a lot of blood now.

Throughout this time I've been connecting with Kushina a lot to make her completely trust me. I don't want her to have any doubts after I planted the seed.

Time skip- A week

It was finally the day I get a C rank mission after all this time. I needed to know what it was, it was like an itch I couldn't scratch. I thought while eating breakfast.

I've learned to calm myself down and accept the fact that I am going to war.

A place where death is normal and violence is necessary. Doing these things are essential to change myself.

Staying the same doesn't help a person, only improving does. The fear of death rattles me down to my bone but will I always fear it?... Probably yes... That is until I gain immortality and not even death can touch me.

I quickly ate my breakfast and packed up all the stuff I needed. Kunai, shuriken, explosive tags etc.

Then I grabbed my jacket which I hurriedly wore on and walked out of the door, locking it.

Just as I was about to take a step down, a sound alerted me. A shuriken!...

As it flew to my forehead nearly piercing it, I caught it by a hair's length by my two fingers.

I then blindly threw a couple of them back in the same direction to buy me some time.

Shall I take higher ground and probe?... The opponent's speed in that shuriken was enough for me to catch. But is it a fake play?

I'll just throw a smoke bomb for now. I thought as I took a ball out of my pocket and threw it as hard as I could to the ground.

My eyes then spun in a 360 while turning a shade of red as I turned vigilant.

I sent chakra to my nose and ears to keep my alertness open for any type of noise or unusual smell.

But what was scary was that I couldn't see or even have a clue where he was. The shuriken had a manly smell of a finger which I felt was familiar... Wait... Fugaku?!... But it might be a fake play.

As I kept deducting, the more in the dark I felt so I flickered to the roof with the chimney as my cover.

After waiting for a couple of minutes, I peeked up... Only to feel a hand covering my mouth, I was right... Fugaku.

"It seems you are ready to go on a mission, Yokuma." A deep voice spoke behind me while he took his hand off.

"I see, so it was a test," I said while turning around.

"I just needed to see what you would do in that situation. Being in the dark end of a fight is completely different to keep your opponent in the dark." He stated with a wise voice.

"You have to learn how to adapt to both, it will happen a lot of times to you when you go on missions."

"I'll keep that in mind Fugaku-san, this lesson was truly helpful," I replied.

"Now of you go, I'm expecting something different from yourself when you come back. Do not disappoint." These were his last words before he flickered off.

Getting kept in the dark in a fight is indeed a terrifying feeling.

I thought as the sweat of my hair was dripping on my neck.
