Volume II: Konoha's Night Owl Chapter 10: Chunin

A month ago in the Hokage office we can see six people seated around a table. At the head of the table is the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, then on his right side is the members of Konoha council Homura Mitokado, and Koharu Utatane, and the Head of The Anbu Division Root Danzō Shimura. On the left side there were Jonin Commander, Shukaku Nara, and the head of the Analysis Team in the village's Intelligence Division, Inoichi Yamanaka.

Looking at the people gathered here Hiruzen spoke "This is meeting to discuss about the promotion of two Genin Ninjas to Chnuin Ninja." Then looked at the Jonin Commander Shukaku.

Understanding his look Shikaku spike "Two Genins the Hokage spoke are Itachi Uchiha and Bokuto Nara."

"Isn't the recommendation supposed to be done by their respective Jonin Instructor?" Homura asked.

"Bokuto Nara is more than ready to become a Chnuin Ninja of Konoha village, as his Jonin instructor, I recommend him for Chunin exam." Inoichi said.

Hearing at this Danzo said "I have no problem with that as Bokuto is an exceptional ninja in infiltration and information gathering. The problem is, the Jonin Instructor of Itachi. Even though Itachi have a good track record he is not recommended by his Instructor."

"That's worrying." Koharu said.

"Yes. That's why Hokage has called us for this meeting, in order to decide what to do with them." Shikaku said.

"I say recruit both of them to the Anbu as they become a chunin." Danzo said.

"We have talked this over Danzo. He will get a choice, weather to be an Anbu operative or not." Hiruzen said.

Hearing this the office became silent, and it was broken by an Anbu who entered the office with a letter in his hand. As he entered he stopped at a distance away from the table, because another Anbu with a dog mask and silver hair came out of the shadow and took the letter from the one who entered. After handing over the letter the Anbu left the place.

After checking the letter for any kind of explosive tag or anything that could harm the Hokage, the dog masked Anbu handed it over to the Hokage.

Opening it Hiruzen started to read it, after reading the letter he had a small smile on his face and he spoke "Kumo is going to sign a peace treaty with us. They want to stop the war that we are currently having to be stopped. Their envoy will reach Konoha in a month."

Hearing this all of them was surprised and Danzo said "Don't sign the treaty, it's a ruse. I'm sure that they will be coming to steal some of the assets of Konoha like they did in the Second Ninja war."

"That possible. But, we just have increase our security so that there won't be kidnapping attempt like that again." Saying that Hiruzen looked at the Anbu who was standing near him and said "Kakashi, you will lead a team of Anbu and secure the possible target of their interest."

"Hai Hokage-sama." Saying that Kakashi left the office.

After he left Danzo spoke "Since it has come to this, I want to recommend Bokuto Nara for spying on the Envoy of the Kumo."

"That is good. Since he has gotten information that we couldn't get using some of the Jonins themselves." Homura also agreed with Danzo.

Thinking it over Hiruzen said "Then we will do that. But Inoichi, we will only disclose this mission to him a week before the Envoy come to Konoha, and I'll be personally giving him the mission."

"Hai Hokage-sama." Inoichi said.

"Since this an information gathering, but on an Envoy of another village, this mission will be of B-Rank. How troublesome… " Shikaku said.

"Then the meeting is over. We will discuss Itachi's promotion matter in a later date."

After that everyone left the office, with only Hiruzen remaining to finish his paper work.

A week after the failed kidnap attempt of the Kumo Head Ninja, the Raikage sent another envoy with a letter stating that Konoha has unlawfully arrested their Head Ninja and they should compensate them as per the treaty, but that was soon shut down by themselves in a week as they retreated peacefully from Konoha saying that the Head Ninja was a rouge ninja who tried to tarnish the name of Kumogakure. The Hokage and the council was baffled by the proclamation of the Raikage at first, then they was surprised by the second information saying that the head Ninja was a rouge.

The Hokage called another meeting and declared that Bokuto Nara will be promoted to Chunin level Ninja without taking an exam as it was thanks to him that there was less bloodshed between the two villages. So at the age of nine Bokuto Nara became a chunin Ninja of Konohagakure.

The third day the second Kumo envoy arrived at Konoha with unreasonable demands, a shadow owl flew towards the direction of the Kumogakure village. In a single day it reached the village and it went straight to the Raikage office. As it reached the window of the office it knocked on the window with its beak.

Hearing the sound the fourth Raikage Ay looked over and saw a shadow owl with scroll on its back. Seeing that he ordered one of his bodyguard to check what it is. After making sure that there was nothing that is harmful to the Raikage the bodyguard handed over the scroll to Raikage, but the bird didn't leave that place and preached on the edge of the window.

Not minding the bird, Ay opened the scroll and was about to read it when the door was opened and a man came inside with six swords.

//An: I will be writing the speaking pattern of Killer B in normal way. Not the rapping way.//

Looking at Ay he said as he rapped "Yo, Ay I need to go out of the village."

"Not now B. I'll be with you in a minute."

"Sure, I'll wait for you here." Saying that he sat down on the couch nearby.

"All right." Saying that Ay started to read the scroll.

But was again interrupted by B again "Hey can you read that aloud, maybe I can make a rap song from it."

"Okay I will, so stop interrupting me." Ay said with a little bit of anger.

"Sure." Saying that B became silent and Ay started to read the scroll loud enough to be heard by B.

[To the Honourable Raikage.

If you don't leave Konoha alone and abide by the treaty signed by the two villages.

Your shameless performance to get the Byakugan will not be fruitful, so I advice you to change your mind.

If you don't, I will be coming to take Matatabi and Gyuki from your village.

If you think this is threat, you can think like that. But this is nothing but a warning to you Raikage. So be a good Raikage and retreat your envoy from Konoha…. ]

After reading until there Ay had a confused look on his face and said aloud "Who the hell is this Matatabi and Gyuki?"

"Ah… Bro, I think I know them." B said.

"Who is it B." Ay asked him since it's the first time B is having some information.

"Ah.. well, Gyuki is the eight tails." B said.

"Right Gyuki is eight tails but who's Matatabi?" Ay asked.

"He's saying that it's the two tails." B answered Ay after Gyuki told him.

Hearing this Ay stood up with his fist folded and said "Someone is threatening us! The Kumo is being threatened by those tree huggers???" He was about to rage on, but was stopped by B who said "Bro, Gyuki says that the one who have sent you scroll won't be a normal ninja. But is that all in the scroll?"

Calming down Ay said "No, there's more."

Saying that he started to read the scroll again.

[If you try to do something funny, like attacking Konoha, please do that after what happens next.]

Ay was confused again but that went away as soon as it came as the bird that was sitting on the edge of the window flew away and started to drop explosive tags to the floor of the office, as soon as it touched the floor it exploded.

Ay sweat dropped at this and continued to read the rest of the letter.

[Now, if you try to attack Konoha in any way there will be thousands of owls coming to Kumo to drop explosive tags that will explode on contact.

So male a wise decision Ay.

"Damn bro. If what the letter said is true it will be a disaster to Kumo." B said.

"I know. That's why we will be retreating from Konoha." Saying that he looked at his assistant and said "Send a message to the team to peacefully retreat from Konoha, and tell them to make those five guys the rouge ninja."

"Hai, Raikage-sama."

As the assistant left Ay spoke while looking at the letter "You win this time, but next time I'll have one over you!!!" Saying that he punched the table into smithereens.

While this was going on, inside the seal on B, Gyuki thought 'Who is this person that knows about the name given to us by father?'
