Chapter 26: Itachi Vs Ken (1)

While the other kids were taking a break, Ken and Itachi were gearing up for the battle. Well, just Itachi was gearing up for the battle since Ken was already geared up.

The word has spread across the village that the Uchiha clan leader's eldest son who is being hailed as a genius would be fighting against the third Hokage's grandson who is being hailed as a prodigy.

Many wanted to witness the battle and the third Hokage allowed it. He wanted everyone to know that the next generation of Konoha was strong.

Yes, he would be putting the kids in spotlight and that would mean they would be targeted in the future but he would do his best to protect them inside the village as well as outside the village after they become genins.

Some of the Uchiha clansmen along with Fugaku, Mikato and the baby Sasuke also came over to watch the spar. Shisui Uchiha who had been training Itachi and had been friends with him was also there.

Fugaku gave some tips to Itachi with a stern face. While Mikoto wished him the best of luck with a smile.

Asuma, Kurenai and Guy were also there. Kakashi and Mukai were acting as the third's personal guards so they were also there to witness the historic event.

Some clan leaders also decided to come. Shikaku took it as an excuse to avoid his work as a jonin commander and thus came with his two friends Inoichi and Choza.

Orochimaru and Danzo were also watching from shadows.

The stage was set for the genius and the prodigy to battle it out against the masses of the village.

Itachi played with Sasuke a little before entering the 'battlefield'.

'I will win it for you Sasuke.' Itachi thought innocently.

Ken was already present on the battlefield. He had his tantō attached to his back.

The Hokage was himself going to referee the match.

"You can use anything in the battle from taijutsu to genjutsu to ninjutsu to any weapon. If any of your life is in danger, I will intervene so you both can go all out. I would also ask the crowd to step back a little to prevent getting caught in the crossfire." Hiruzen said

"Now begin!" Hiruzen said as he jumped back

Itachi started by throwing kunai. They were all aimed at Ken's vital spots who managed to deflect them with the help of his tantō.

Itachi followed it up with shuriken. Some of them even turned more than 90 degrees in the air while some hit other shuriken to deflect it which made it difficult for Ken to judge their positions.

'I won't be able to dodge or deflect them all.' Ken thought as he jumped in the air as he created a shadow clone below him.

He used the shadow clone to double jump so that he could dodge all the shurikens. It was time for his counterattack as he made quick hand signs.

'Fire Style: Phoneix flower jutsu'

Several fireballs that encased shurinkens were aimed at Itachi who used the Body flicker jutsu to dodge them which was taught to him by Shisui but still, he was not able to dodge all of them.

One fireball was hidden behind another two, Itachi was able to notice it at the last second and barely dodged it but the shuriken inside the fireball still grazed his left hand, thus injuring it.

Everyone was surprised to see such a high-paced and intense battle between a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old kid.

'Those shuriken jutsu skills are even better than some jonin. He even has learned body flicker jutsu. He is truly a genius.' Hiruzen thought after seeing Itachi fight for the first time

Even Fugaku was surprised by his son's prowess.

'When did he learn body flicker jutsu? His prowess with the shuriken jutsu has also increased. The third's grandson on the other hand is a monster. He is using the shadow clone jutsu at the age of 5? He even used one of the Uchiha's signature fire jutsu with just three hand signs and so skillfully. If I did not know better, I would have thought he was the new nine tails jinchuriki with the amount of chakra that he has.' he thought

Itachi again threw kunai from different sides which were again deflected by Ken.

"Looks like little Ken has lost." Kurenai said as she noticed what Itachi was doing

"Haha. You are underestimating Ken here, Kurenai. I admit that Itachi is good in fact very good. But Ken has not even started yet." Asuma said with a smirk

Itachi has surrounded Ken with wires that were attached to the different Kunai spread all over the ground. Itachi weaved hand signs as he spewed flames from his mouth.

'Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu'

The wires acted as a medium for the flames. But since no one saw the third Hokage move in to save Ken, they knew the battle was far from over.

The experienced shinobis' eyes widened as they saw what happened.

'He has mastery over two chakra natures at such a young age. He is going to be quite troublesome in the future.' Shikaku thought

Ken's hand appeared from below Itachi who managed to just react in time.

Before the jutsu could have hit Ken, Ken had moved underground using the earth style: Hidden mole jutsu and then used the earth style headhunter jutsu.

'I did not even see him weave hand signs. I am going to lose at this rate.' Itachi thought but his thought process stopped as soon as he saw his little brother cry.

'No, I have to win for Sasuke!' Itachi said as he became determined more than ever to win as a result of his strong desire his eyes turned red.

He had awakened the one tomoe sharingan at the age of six. One year before he was supposed to awaken it. But in canon, he was supposed to awaken the two tomoe Sharingan. How would this affect the future of the Naruto world? Will Ken be able to handle the repercussions that the changes in the timeline had brought?
