17 Chapter 17: Training Ninjutsu (3)

Hiruzen taught him a total of 8 ninjutsus from both earth and fire chakra natures which included the fire ball jutsu. Four from each chakra nature with all of them being C rank and one being D rank jutsu.

"Now you have to master all eight of these jutsus before I teach you more of them," Hiruzen said

"But I can already do them perfectly." Ken retorted

"Yes, You can perform the jutsus perfectly. But you have to use all the hand signs to do so. You have to reduce the number of hand signs that you need to use to perform the Jutsu." Hiruzen said

"You can reduce the number of hand signs to use a jutsu?" Ken asked surprised

"Yes, Ken. You can reduce the hand signs to a minimum of one. Although it's pretty tough to get it to one, it is still possible. The higher the rank of the jutsu, the more the hand signs it will have and the more difficult it will be to reduce the hand signs of these jutsus."

"Some jutsus even have 40 hand signs. Now using such a jutsu in a battle would be impossible in the middle of a battle. Thus, shinobi reduce the number of hand signs that they had to use for these jutsus to make them usable in battle. Using a lot of hand signs can be a disadvantage for you in a battle against a shinobi who uses fewer hand signs. The fourth Hokage even developed a jutsu that does not need hand signs to use it along with his space-time ninjutsu." Hiruzen explained

"How to reduce hand signs? It's simple, by using the jutsus again and again until it becomes second nature to you. This would not only help you reduce the hand signs but also help increase the speed of your hand signs."

"Grandpa, can you use the jutsu that the fourth developed without hand signs?"

"of course, Here," Hiruzen said while concentrating chakra on his left hand as a ball of chakra was formed on it which was revolving at a high speed.

"It's called the Rasengan," He said as he smashed the Rasengan through a boulder destroying it.

"So coool" Ken said honestly

"Haha, I will teach you this jutsu when you graduate from the academy. With your talent, it would be pretty easy for you to learn it." Hiruzen said

'I have the training method for this jutsu so I can learn it on my own. Since he is being generous, I should ask him for something else.'

"I will learn this jutsu on my own Grandpa. You should teach me some other A-rank jutsu." Ken said

"Is that so? Fine." Hiruzen took it as a kid's joke as there was no way that Ken would be able to learn a jutsu that took Minato years to develop.

"Grandpa, can someone use hand seals using only one hand too?" Ken asked

"The hand signs are intended to help the shinobi in correctly gathering and shaping their chakra in order to perform Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, or any other jutsu. You can do the same with only one hand. So, yes many shinobi can use only one hand to make jutsus including me. But it requires a lot of experience, chakra control, and mastery over that particular jutsu." Hiruzen explained

"Normally it would take you years to reduce the hand signs for so many jutsus even C-rank ones. But the amount of the chakra that you have is a cheat. Sometimes I think you are a reincarnated tailed beast hahaha" Hiruzen laughed while Ken's face stifled at hearing the 'reincarnated' word.

To hide it, he asked Hiruzen "What does a tailed beast mean Grandpa? Is it a food?"

Now it was Hiruzen's turn to be stupefied.

"Tailed beasts are beasts made out of chakra. They have enormous amounts of chakra..." Hiruzen then continued giving the lecture about tailed beasts, which village has which beast, their abilities, and what a jinchuriki is.

"These jinchurikis keep the beasts away. They must be heroes of their respective village." Ken said

"Alright now back to the topic, You will use

your enormous chakra reserved to make shadow cones to aid you in your training." Hiruzen said while explaining the concept of shadow clones, how the main body can get the memories of clones as well as the experience. Why it is dangerous and it should be used under his supervision.

"Grandpa, you know the shadow clones jutsu too?" Ken asked since he never saw Hiruzen using more than one clone and he was under the assumption that only Naruto can create more than one clone.

It turns out that everyone can create more than one shadow clone but then they would not have enough chakra to sustain themselves and then they would die. While those with higher chakra reserves can make a maximum of ten clones.

"How do you think I learned all the jutsus in Konoha and then reduced the hand signs of most of them?" Hiruzen said with a smirk

'He knows every technique in Konoha including some of the forbidden ones and against Orochimaru, Grandpa uses a stupid staff. The old age might have hampered his thinking ability.' Ken concluded

"The chakra consumption is not the only reason why it is considered forbidden. Since you receive memories from all the clones once dispersed together, you feel a terrible headache. That could even damage your brain." Hiruzen said seriously

"That's why you would start by only creating one shadow clone this week and once you are accustomed to receiving its memories, we gradually increase to the maximum number of five shadow clones."

'Although five shadow clones are nothing compared to Naruto's 1000s of shadow clones. But still, it's 5x more speed in training and as my chakra grows I would be able to create more. Though, I doubt that I would even be able to handle 100 of them rather than 1000s like Naruto. I wonder why his brain did not hurt from getting so many memories.' Ken thought
