Haku stood beside a table making some strange Hand signs.

"This is the "dog" hand sign right?" Haku looked at the genin on the table.

The genin's face was full of water. His torso was shaking but strangely his arms and legs were like a stone, immovable. 

"Hey! Shinobi, I am asking you!" Haku moved his face near the genin's ear.

"Y-Yes… About your promise…" The genin exclaimed weakly, despair evident in his eyes.

"Hmm…" Haku paused, seemingly thinking for a response.

But for the genin, this very pause was quite possibly the longest and the most stressful time of his life.

"I did promise to free you and heal you right! Alright then! I will keep my promise." Haku smiled innocently and looked at the genin's face.

Haku pulled up a kunai and showed it to the genin's face. His face certainly placed a smile on the cute boy's face.

"B-But you promised… You promised to free me!" The genin was pleading haku.

"Hmm yes! I am going to free you." With that being said, Haku slit the genin's throat as the genin's head and torso shook for a while but ultimately stopped. It was in a moment like this that Haku truly found humans interesting. The despair when they lose something precious to them was truly… a sight to behold!

Returning from his monologue, Haku made a note of his gains from this fateful encounter. The obvious gains were the handsigns he learned but there were other gains too!

Along with the four kunai from before, Haku now had a total of 10 kunai and a proper pouch to hold his tools. He also borrowed four explosive tags from the helpful genin! The genin was also generous enough to donate him an oversized chainmail armor.

Haku used the 30 minutes the genin was sleeping to make the chainmail's length near to his size. As for the width of chainmail, they would eventually fit in.

But the greatest gain has to be a badly detailed map of the land of water! Although it only had the locations of hidden mist and some villages of the main island, it also had the names of some of the islands except the main one.

Haku compared the map Genin had with the map the woman made.

Strangely, he didn't find the island of the Yuki clan in the genin's map! 

Haku had a few speculations about it. But first, he needs to run away from this village towards the next village whose name wasn't written on the map.

Haku wore His chain mail and worse a decently thick cloth over it, as it was snowing.

He wrapped a weapon pouch containing his 10 kunai and 4 explosive tags. He also counted 4000 ryo that the generous genin had… donated to him!

Packing his bag with some dried meat and water, he began His journey. Stepping out on the slightly snowy dirt road, haku kept practicing hand seals to make his hands more accustomed to using them.

He also began planning his future events. After all, the chaos had just started.

Haku remembered from the anime that in the Land of Waves arc, that haku was 15 years old while Naruto was 12. From the memories of haku, he also knew that he turned five two months ago in October 

So Naruto should be about 2 years old right now. The fourth Hokage is dead, civil war is still raging in the land of water. The Hyuga incident is going to happen next year and the Uchiha massacre in four years.

Remembering these events, Haku sighed. But he also couldn't deny the tremendous excitement he felt!

He gave himself a small goal to be at least an elite Jonin in 4 years— Something Cannon Haku had never been.

Haku stopped in his tracks as he felt that he had come decently far away from the village. He had already traveled for one and a half hours. He sat on a flat-looking stone and ate some pieces of dried meat and gulped a little bit of water.

He then stood in front of a tree and started making hand signs.

"Dog-Bird-Rat-Dog-Bird-Dog" 

With that, A sharp and pointy icicle formed in front of Haku's hand. The icicle, the size of Haku's forearm moved forward at a fast speed and dug quite deep into the street.

Haku moved to inspect the tree. The tree which felt very hard and strong to touch had an icicle pierced halfway through it.

But that wasn't the shocking thing to Haku! What shocked him was his talent!

Haku knew the jutsu formula was incomplete. It didn't even explain the intricacies of performing it. Like how to mold the chakra or where to make the icicle. 

But as soon as Haku started performing the hand signs, something clicked in his brain as he realized those intricacies! This was what talent was like!

He even deduced the missing hand signs! No wonder Haku in the anime was able to create those ice jutsus even without any reference!

It was all talent! 

Haku also realized that the reason Cannon Haku was that weak wasn't because of his lack of talent but because of other various factors.

First was the fact that Haku was depressed after the village was killed and severely malnourished after he met Zabuza. Another reason was that Zabuza wasn't the right teacher for Haku!

Zabuza was indeed a master of assassination and water release but he had no knowledge about ice release and wind release.

And lastly, no butterfly effect caused Haku to get the location of his clan compound!

After resting, Haku once again started moving!

He had a lot to practice after he got there.

For now, he will practice hand seals while walking!

Haku had realized he was gonna have a lot of fun and interesting experiences in this ninja world and he was all in for it!

After 3 hours of walking in the light snow. Haku finally reached the village! This village was slightly larger and more bustling than Haku's original village.

He quickly found an inn and paid 800 ryo for one day of stay, which didn't include meals. As soon as he saw the bead he drifted to the land of dreams!
