Chapter 2 - System Binding Sucessful

Author's note: I've been reading Chinese Naruto MTL fanfics for the past year and I feel like my English level has dropped by half so forgive me if you see weird phrases or poorly worded sentences from time to time. Anyway, enjoy.

"House Gaunt? What are you, some kind of noble?"

Although Kaguya Arimoto had not heard of a noble family with the surname Gaunt, he could feel from the way Noctus Gaunt carried himself and the disdain that he felt from Noctus' gaze from his ninja senses that this person felt like those nobles he had dealt with before. Even behind their sugar-coated flattering words, Kaguya Arimoto always felt that the nobles were looking down on him, just like the young man in front of him.

To Kaguya Arimoto's question, Noctus Gaunt simply chuckled.

"Hmhm, well historically you could say so but unfortunately my family has declined. Now, if you will excuse me, I have places I need to be. Farewell, gentlemen."

Just as Noctus Gaunt was about to turn away and leave, he was stopped again.

"Wait. I don't care if you are a ruined noble or not, now that you've seen us I can't simply let you leave. Also, what was that ninjutsu you just used? What was that light in the sky?"

Having been stopped once more, Noctus was starting to feel rather peeved. Before arriving here, he was browsing trinkets in Diagon Alley after he sneaked out of school. As a young and talented wizard, he fashioned himself his own personal Portkey that could bypass the school's enchantments, allowing him to sneak in and out of the school to explore his heart's wishes.

"Gentlemen, as lovely as it would be to stay and chat, I really must away. Honestly, I thought that muggles in this era weren't that much different from Earth but it seems I was mistaken. Ninjutsu? What age do you think this is, 16th century Japan?"

Sighing, Noctus raised his wand, alerting the vigilance of Kaguya Arimoto and the surrounding ninjas.

"Stop! I don't know what you're up to, but if you don't surrender now, we'll take you in by force!"

"Petrificus Totalus."

With the wave of his wand and the spell words from his lips, suddenly Kaguya Arimoto stiffened and feel to the ground without moving.

"Elder! Damn it, kill him!"

The other Kaguya ninjas suddenly panicked seeing their elder and captain seemingly 'killed', they jumped into action in anger, throwing kunai, shuriken, and rushing toward Noctus Gaunt.

"Careful!"

Uzumaki Hachi saw Noctus under siege and shouted out words of warning. In his eyes, although he didn't know who this ruined noble Noctus Gaunt was, it was clear that he was not his enemy and possessed powerful ninjutsu.

"Huh, interesting. Protego."

Noctus did not need Uzumaki Hachi's warning to see the projectiles flying toward him, and he quickly cast a shield charm.

*ding* *ding* *ding*

The kunai and shuriken all hit a blue transparent barrier and fell down around Noctus, causing him no harm at all. 

Then, Noctus focused his eyes on three approaching Kaguya ninjas rushing at him swiftly.

"Expulso."

Three blue streams of light flew out of Noctus' wand and slammed the three attacking ninjas back with such force that as soon as they touched the ground, they were completely knocked out.

"Damn it, go call the others, I'll hold him here."

A Chunin stepped up and commanded a few surrounding Genins to go call for support after seeing their stunned gazes from the man's strange 'ninjutsu'. 

Just as the Genins were about to comply and leave, the man spoke again.

"Ah-ah-ah. Sorry gentlemen, but I don't think so. Immobulus."

A white light shot out from Noctus' wand and shrouded the remaining eleven mist ninjas. Immediately after, they all froze in place as if the god of time had pressed a stopwatch.

Looking around, seeing the efficacy of his spell, seemingly satisfied, Noctus nodded toward himself. 

"Much better."

Finally, Noctus turned his gaze toward the family of three redheads not far away from him. However what really drew his attention at this time was not their appearance, but the golden chains surrounding them whose ends stretched from the red-haired man's back. 

"Huh, what manner of magic is this? Though I always feel like it looks kind of familiar."

Noctus pondered for a moment but could not remember, feeling some vague memories out of grasp that was just on the tip of his tongue.

Seeing the man with powerful 'ninjutsu' looking at him, Uzumaki Hachi started to worry and then restrained his Adamantine Sealing Chains and raised his hands.

"Sir, we mean no harm. Our family is just trying to escape to the land of fire. Thank you for saving us from these mist ninjas, without you, I'm afraid we would have been killed."

Uzumaki Hachi thanked the man honestly with clear relief in his voice, for fear of antagonizing the powerful unknown 'ninja' in front of him.

"Land of fire? Mist ninja…?"

Noctus scratched his head and then finally a lightbulb seemed to light in his mind and he raised his head toward the family of three redheads.

"Excuse me, one moment. May I please have the pleasure of knowing your names?"

Seeing that the man had no intention of attacking, Uzumaki Hachi breathed another sigh of relief and gestured toward his wife and daughter.

"My name is Uzumaki Hachi, this is my wife, Uzumaki Haru, and my daughter, Uzumaki Hana. Thank you again for saving us."

"Thank you!"

"Thank you!"

Two shouts of gratitude followed Uzumaki Hachi's introduction as Haru and Hana bowed their heads and thanked their savior.

"Uzumaki…ah, I knew it."

Noctus Gaunt finally understood the strange actions of those attacking 'savages' from before. It was not because he landed in some strange backward village, but he landed in a completely different world.

"Haa, first reincarnation and then transmigration. Really, I would rather believe someone slipped something into my pumpkin juice."

Noctus uttered quietly words that only he could hear.

'What's next? I didn't have any gifts in my last life aside from my pure-blooded parentage. Am I going to get a system and gift package this time?'

Noctus said in his heart.

*Ding*
