5 Chapter 5

It was now morning, sun beams were passing through the clouds and hitting the town our main character temporarily stayed in, and people were now continuing their daily life cycle.

"A little bit to the right!"

"Careful, we don't want to deliver damaged goods!"

"Alright... that'll be enough"

The merchant, Steve, was giving orders to the crew of the ship. He quite nervous since he didn't if the blonde man he met yesterday would fulfill his end of the deal or not.

"A-ano... Steve-san" A middle-aged man that was part of the crew walked up to Steve as he scratched the back of his head, "I would like to receive half of the money before we set sail so that I could give it to my family..."

Sailors were with the middle-aged man since they wanted the half balance too, "Yeah Steve-san, we'd like to receive half of our salary first as you promised."

Steve was having a hard time since the men were now gathering asking for half of their money already, he knew it was wrong to make that promise but he had no choice, most of the men were already afraid of going to the mainland yet did it anyway so that they could feed their family.

"G-guys..."

"Steve, here."

The merchant then turned to his back to see Naruto holding a bag. "Naruto-san!"

Steve took the bag Naruto stretched his hands on, "What's this?"

Naruto then neared his mouth to the merchant's ears and whispered, "That's a hundred thousand ryo, use it well..." with that, Naruto walked and arrived at the ship deck.

This shocked Steve for a second but he wasn't the soon-to-be the best merchant for nothing and quickly kept his composure despite the money bag on his hands and followed Naruto's lead.

"Naruto... Thank you, you've helped me so much," he then bowed towards Naruto as they arrived at the deck, "If there's anything you need, as long as it's within my capabilities, I will do it."

Naruto faced the endless see (just fogged) and thought for a moment, "I'm planning to make my own group, a guild per se..." he said, and then looked towards Steve, "Be my first member."

The merchant got confused for a second but agreed nonetheless, "Then so be it," he said, "but what will be the name of this organization Naruto-kun?"

"We will be called," Naruto said, "The Snarling Wolves!"

'Guild points? Gotta look up to that later'

Steve widened his eyes for a second releasing something, "Snarling wolves? Wait, isn't that the flag that was on the middle of the town?"

"Heh! Of course, this town is in my protection!" Naruto grinned and tapped the merchant's shoulder.

After their little conversation, Steve then directly paid the whole crew of sailors the amount he promised. Not half, but the full amount. They set the sails after the money distribution and sang songs, drank bottles of beers. Naruto also drank to keep the act; it didn't really bother him since he could control his alcohol tolerance due to Alucard's training.

It was now lunch time, most of the crew were now eating, some were controlling the sails and keeping watch and will take turns after.

Naruto and Steve were the only ones eating at a table facing each other since they were the boss. "So… Steve," Naruto initiated while they ate slowly, "What side are you on?"

"Oh, you mean the Civil war?" Steve asked but continued, "I'm siding with the rebels, bloodline users didn't do anything wrong but the Mizukage wants them gone, I hate the fact that he's just abusing his power."

"What about you Naruto-kun?"

Naruto sighed in relief, at least they were on the same side and didn't have to change the merchant's mind. "Rebels too…" He didn't want to explain why so he just plainly said his answer.

"After delivering your supplies, what do you plan to do?" Naruto then asked out of the blue, "Will you continue on delivering cargos?"

The blonde's question made Steve think for a minute, "Naruto-kun, as you know, I am a merchant…" he said and waited for Naruto's response and only got a nod, "I may make decent money through selling my supplies or won't earn anything at all."

Naruto nodded his head and motioned for the merchant to continue.

"My name is Steve Gato, brother of Gato Gato of the Gato Company, I was the outcast of my family while my parents were in favor of Gato." Steve revealed, "To tell you the truth, I don't want to remain as a merchant, I want to be something else, someone greater than my brother."

Naruto was shocked to say the least, this was the brother of Gato of the Gato Shipping Company!? He couldn't believe it! "S-so what do you want to become?"

"For the past few centuries, the surname Gato was one of the names that were feared throughout the land of water, My parents were very supportive of my brother, hoping that he'd become a great ninja one day, but to their dismay, Gato was born without the talent to become one as he couldn't muster his chakra and as he grew older, his chakra coils adapted his low chakra level and was forced to learn business instead of chasing his dreams of becoming a shinobi. I on the other hand left my family at the early age of 15 and became an anbu at 20. I wanted to become someone who would surpass my brother in everything we do."

Naruto was in a daze for a minute, listening to this man was like listening to your mother disciplining you, "Again, after this, what do you want to become?"

"Hmm… Now that I'm part of the 'Howling Wolves', I'll do my best to make sure this guild will have its way of making money." The merchant said, "I'll build an auction house under the name of our guild, but I don't know where."

Both blonde and the merchant were now silent.

"Ah! I know," Naruto yelled a little bit, "Why don't you come with me? I'll be going to Konoha after the civil war."

Surprised, the merchant asked, "Wait… 'after the civil war'? What do you mean?"

Naruto stood up and look towards where the ship was facing and saw an island becoming clearer by the second, "My purpose for going to the mainland is because," Naruto said.

"I'll end the civil war."
