24 Chapter – 22 Mechanism of Transparency Jutsu
Konoha Ninja Academy
As Hinata was making her way to the library at the academy, by chance she happened to stumble upon three girls who were probably on their way to the girl's washroom.
Looking at the three girls, Hinata's expression dropped, "S… Sato-san… Yumi-san… Emi-san…"
Looking at Hinata, Aiko spoke coldly, "Well if it isn't the white-eyed skunk… what do you think you are doing by blocking our way?"
"I… I'm sorry…" Hinata hurriedly apologized while looking at the floor and tried to move away.
Yumi smirked and blocked Hinata's path, "Not so fast freak… you dared to get in our way, do you think we'll let you off the hook so easily?"
Emi nodded with a malicious smile as she blocked the other side, "Yeah… there are consequences for overstepping, everyone knows that…"
Having experienced such a situation multiple times already, Hinata knew that nothing good would occur from here on out, she became nervous and apologized, hoping that they would let her go, "I… I am sorry… please… let me go…"
Aiko smiled coldly as she walked closer to Hinata, and forcefully held her by the jaw as she spoke, "I fail to understand what Sasuke-kun sees in a useless skunk like you. Why is it that he always sits with you? You are nothing but a freak… you don't deserve to be next to him at all!"
Hinata looked down. Even she doesn't understand why Uchiha Sasuke always sits with her, why is that he only speaks to her, or why he shows kindness toward her. It's not that she is unhappy because of that, after all, Sasuke can be considered her one and only friend… it's just that…
Not receiving any answer, Aiko clicked her tongue, "Tch," and forcefully threw Hinata back causing her to fall on her butt, and scolded her, "Freak!"
As Hinata fell down, her wallet came out of her pocket and landed on the floor, Yumi picked it up, and showed it to Emi and Aiko, "Well… well… look at this… this is quite a lot of money!"
Emi took the wallet from Yumi and spoke in surprise, "Damn! She is loaded! It's at least a year's worth of my pocket money, and I get a lot of pocket money!"
"That… please don't…" Hinata's eyes shrank, and she tried to take back the wallet.
"Huh? You want it back that much?" spoke Aiko as she snatched the wallet from Emi's hand before Hinata could take it back.
Hinata tried to reason, "I… I have been saving all the money I can for my sister's birthday gift, please Aiko-san… please give it back…"
"Ohh? Sister's birthday gift?" smirked Aiko. She fiddled with the wallet and spoke, "Well then… if you want this back so much, then kneel and beg for it…"
Both Yumi and Emi's eyes widened. They didn't expect Aiko to actually make the White Skunk kneel and beg them.
"I… I…" Hinata hesitated, and her eyes darted everywhere.
Aiko naturally noticed the hesitation in Hinata's 'ugly' eyes, and smirked, "Looks like you don't want it back…" Then she began to…
"No… no… please, Aiko-san… I am sorry…" her hesitation disappeared as she kneeled on the ground, and begged Aiko, Yumi, and Emi, "Please Aiko-san… please return the wallet… I beg you…"
She didn't want to be here… she wanted to run away, however, Emi and Yumi were blocking her way, and she needed her wallet back for Hanabi's gift. Before going out of the village for the mission, their mother had promised them that she would bring Kimonos for them as souvenirs, but… she was killed in an ambush, therefore, Hinata is trying to save money and buy a Kimono for Hanabi on her birthday. Although she knows that the Kimono she would buy would never be as good as the one their mother had promised, it would still be something.
"Don't tell me that you are so useless that you don't even know how to beg…? I don't see any sincerity, do the two of you see any sincerity?" spoke Aiko scornfully.
Both Emi and Yumi tacitly shook their heads, "No sincerity at all!"
Tears welled up in Hinata's eyes, she put her head on the ground and begged, "Please… Aiko-san… please…"
Aiko smirked and put her feet on top of Hinata's head, "This is it… this is where you belong, on the ground… you are nothing more than a useless freak, don't you dare for a moment think that you are better than us!"
Hic! Hinata tried to resist the tears, however, the tears didn't stop, "I am sorry…"
Satisfied, Aiko opened Hinata's wallet, and spoke with a mocking smile, "Here you go… you can have it back!" then turned it upside down and allowed all the bills and coins to fall on Hinata. Once the wallet was completely empty, she dropped it on Hinata, "You can pick up all that…" Then she looked at Emi and Yumi, and said as she started to walk away, "Come on… let's go…"
Emi and Yumi looked at the crying Hinata, then shook their heads and followed Aiko.
Soon after Aiko, Yumi, and Emi disappeared, Hinata was left alone. She wiped the tears with the sleeve of her jacket and started to collect the coins and bills and put them back into her wallet.
As Hinata was collecting the money, from the other side of the corridor, Sasuke walked over with a drowsy expression. He looked at Hinata with a confused expression and questioned, "What are you doing Hinata? Weren't you on your way to the library to check something?"
Hinata's body trembled slightly upon hearing the familiar voice. It's a good thing that she was facing the other side, and Sasuke couldn't see her face. She wiped the tears and shook her head, "Nothing Sasuke-san… I was just a little distracted and ended up dropping my wallet, so…"
Sasuke stared at her and noticing the tear stains, he questioned, "Were you crying earlier?"
Hinata panicked, "I… I was just… thinking of Hahaue-sama…" This was the only excuse she could come up with.
Sasuke sighed, "I see… I will help you…" and then began to pick up the coins and bills lying around. Not long ago, he had learned of her mother's death in an ambush. He was surprised upon hearing about the death of Hinata's mother. She did not make an appearance in the Canon, so he wasn't aware of her status. As someone who has lost his entire family and Clan, he can understand her to a certain extent.
"That… Sasuke-san…" Hinata wanted to refuse Sasuke's help… but Sasuke had already started to pick up the money, as a result, she couldn't say anything.
Within the next few seconds, all the coins and bills lying on the floor were back in Hinata's wallet, but just by the weight of the wallet, she could feel it, 'It's less than earlier…' The amount of money was less than before, which can only mean one thing… Hinata bit her lip in sadness and stood there with a dazed expression.
Looking at the distracted expression of Hinata, Sasuke questioned, "What are you thinking?"
Hinata shook her head, "Nothing Sasuke-san…" Internally, she was crying. She won't be able to buy the Kimono she was going to buy for Hanabi.
Sasuke stared at her with a sigh, "Really?" He didn't know what was on the girl's mind, but he could see that she didn't seem to want to involve him in whatever was going on in her mind.

Sasuke's Apartment
While perverseness as a character trait is heavily frowned upon, sometimes such a character trait can also result in unexpectedly good results. Just take the Transparency Jutsu as an example. The Toad Sannin Jiraiya created the Jutsu in his youth with the sole purpose of peeking at the bathing women without getting caught.
Is there any possible way of justifying his intention while creating the Jutsu? There's none! The act of peeking at bathing women itself is morally wrong and can result in imprisonment, but it was Jiraiya's perverseness and desire to peek at nude women without getting punished that led to the creation of a very useful Jutsu.
Sasuke personally doesn't care much about human morals, right, and wrong, he had to commend Jiraiya's open perverseness that led to such fruitful results.
'I do wonder, did a fool like Jiraiya even understand the principles of optics during his youth? Or did he simply use the power of his perverseness similar to a certain Oppai Dragon?' wondered Sasuke as he rapidly flipped through the pages of the book resting on his lap. But then again, Chakra doesn't work like the Demonic Power, so he ought to have gained some understanding of Optics before he created this Jutsu.
But he couldn't be sure, based on his impression of Jiraiya from the Canon, sometimes the Toad Sannin appeared to be a complete fool, while other times he was a wise and knowledgeable person, so it's hard to determine his knowledge base. He couldn't figure out the old fool's mind and shook his head as he focused his attention back on the book. The combination of photographic memory, Dynamic Vision granted by the eye of insight, and superior mental prowess can be very useful in reading, memorizing, and understanding things at an incredible speed.
He is able to instantly memorize the things he sees because of his photographic memory, and he is able to break down whatever he memorizes at the same speed because of the dynamic vision granted by the eye of insight and understand all of it thanks to his superior mental prowess. Just looking at the pages while constantly flipping them is more than enough to completely understand everything.
The book he was reading was about Light, its principles, and working. He had borrowed a few books about Optics from the Konoha Library as he wanted to refresh his memory on the subject and gain more insight into the subject from the perspective of a ninja.
'The setting of this world is really very strange, despite the world existing in the Middle Ages, the development of technology is weird,' thought Sasuke. And it's not just technology, even the knowledge base is weird. At least, Sasuke had never expected to find books about Optics that are as advanced and detailed as the ones he could find in the twenty-first century.
"Now that I think about it, they teach several core topics from the mechanics and biology in the Konoha Ninja Academy… so is it really strange that detailed books about Optics are easily accessible too?" mumbled Sasuke as he shook his head and closed the book. Having read hundreds of books about the principles of light and the nature of its interaction with different elements, Sasuke has figured out the basic workings of the Transparency Jutsu.
It's based on one of the two different forms of interaction of light with an object. The first is the refraction of light, while the second is no interaction with the light.
Based on Sasuke's personal observation, the Transparency Jutsu used by Hayate utilizes the first form of interaction with the light, which is Refraction. In order to attain this form of transparency, Yang Chakra Nature is used to alter the refractive index of the body in such a manner that it matches with the surrounding environment, such that light travels through the body at the same speed as in the air and does not change the direction because of the change in medium. Since there's no change in the speed and direction of light, it does not get reflected, as a result, the person becomes transparent.
Now, this does sound a bit bogus and gives rise to a genuine question.
How can light travel through the human body since it is a solid object that is opaque in nature?
But if you think about it for a while, you'll realize that it is not impossible. After all, Light is an electromagnetic wave and electromagnetic waves can indeed travel through solid opaque objects, and they too experience refraction, reflection, as well as absorption when traveling through different mediums of different optical densities.
'Jiraiya is indeed good at using Yang Release Jutsu… so it does make sense that he created Transparency Jutsu,' thought Sasuke. The Hair manipulation Jutsus that Jiraiya uses works upon the Yang Chakra Nature.
Well, that is Jiraiya's version of Transparency Jutsu.
As for Mū's version of Transparency Jutsu, it's a bit different, and unlike Jiraiya's Yang Chakra Nature-based Transparency Jutsu, Mū's Transparency Jutsu works upon the Water Chakra Nature, and it uses the second type of interaction with light, which is no interaction with light at all.
Although it works on no interaction with light at all, that's not the complete explanation. In reality, the interaction with light indeed occurs, however, the body of the person using the said Jutsu does not interact with the light, rather, it's the water vapor that they have surrounded themselves with that interacts with the light and completely deflects it such that light bends around the body of the user leading to no interaction with it in the form of absorption or scattering, which leads to the invisibility. Completely bending the light is not the only thing the cover of water vapor surrounding the body of the user does. The cover of water vapor also effectively prevents chakra waves–that a person almost always emits–from escaping past the cover of water vapor, thus making it nearly impossible for anyone to detect the said person with conventional means.
Having discerned the working of both forms of Transparency Jutsu, Sasuke concluded, 'Initially, I wanted to start with mastering Hayate's Transparency Jutsu, then improve upon it… but now there's no doubt about it, learning Tsuchikage Mū's Transparency Jutsu would be easier for me…'
Mastering Yang Chakra Nature Transformation would be more difficult for him compared to mastering Water Chakra Nature Transformation. Yang Chakra Nature Transformation & Yin Chakra Nature Transformation are a little complicated to master compared to the basic five Chakra Natures, moreover, considering the scope of both transparency jutsu, mastering Tsuchikage Mū's Transparency Jutsu is naturally the better option.
With that in mind, Sasuke fiddled through the cupboard containing scrolls of different Chakra Nature Transformations and took out all the scrolls about Water Chakra Nature Transformation.
Uchiha Sasuke's primary Chakra Nature is Lightning which he inherited from his mother followed by Fire which is common to all the Uchiha Clansmen. Naturally, he also has the Yin Chakra Nature because of his Uchiha blood and Sharingan, but that's not the point. The point is, he wasn't born with the Water Chakra Nature. Of course, just because he wasn't born with a Chakra Nature doesn't mean he can't learn it. Most ninjas are born with a single Chakra Nature, yet they master other Chakra Natures. In fact, having mastery over at least two Chakra Nature is one of the most basic requirements for becoming a Jōnin for most people.
Attaining mastery over a new Chakra Nature is also not an easy task, it takes a lot of time, effort, training, and talent. Unlike Naruto who could create a thousand shadow clones to make up for the lack of time and quickly mastered a Chakra Nature, Sasuke can't do that, he doesn't have such massive Chakra Reserves. At most, he can create two shadow Clones that can last for a longer duration, but even then, he would have to be very careful with his reserves, lest he run out of Chakra because of constant consumption while training.
'But then again, I am a genius… at most four months, and I should be able to master Water Chakra Nature Transformation as well as Tsuchikage Mū's 'Dustless Bewildering Cover' without affecting my training in other disciplines…' thought Sasuke as he started to read information about Chakra Nature Transformation & Water Chakra Nature.
