19 Chapter 19

A/N: Zero...

Something was different about the day.

Cersei knew it the moment she woke up. The world around her strangely felt joyful. She should have been experiencing some form of pleasentness, but, the feeling of uncertainty, the dread crawling up her feet... No matter how much wine she drank, it just wouldn't go away.

Maybe it was the dream she had last night. A face made unrecognizable by blood with horrifying red eyes filled with unsurpassed rage, glaring at her very soul and behind it the sky painted red by the blood of its victims.

'You're next.'

She folded her arms around her body as she tried to suppress a shiver. As she walked ahead the dine for breakfast, she could see the tense countance of her beloved son Joffrey. Gods! He looked so pale.

For the entire time she was there, no one uttered a single word. Not even Jamie and Tyrion. She knew something was wrong and she wanted answers.

Cersei rushed towards the small council chamber with purpose. Her Joffrey hadn't even taken a bit before he ran back to his chambers, that doe eyed bitch following him soon after. She preyed her father could answer to her worries.

As she barged in the council chamber, she barked, "Out! All of you! I need to talk to my father."

Everyone looked towards the old lion who just nodded but not before taking a parchment away from Varys' hands.

Cersei waited for everyone to leave and she was about to begin when Tywin said, "I know why you are here. Take a seat."

Meanwhile, Edwyn was sitting on top of the walls of Meereen. Before him was an apocalyptic scene of decimated land and burning remains of his foes.

The masters who were found guilty by him were down on their knees, screaming to the gods as Edwyn's clones skinned them, their ribs pulled out from their spines and spread out forming boney wings.

He sensed Daenerys climbing the steps up to the wall he was sitting on. As she approached him, she made sure not to let her eyes wander towards the gruesome execution of the former masters.

Taking a seat next to Edwyn with her back facing the execution, Daenerys took a deep breath and asked, "Why did you go to such lengths to punish them? This... is barbaric."

Edwyn's voice was morose as he replied, "I wanted to see if their would get angered or not. Apparently, the Harpy doesn't exist."

At Daenerys' questioning gaze, he elaborated, "They preyed to the Harpy, a half human half avian being whom they thought to be their god. I wanted to see if she existed."

"And if she did?"

"Then I'd have faced her in battle and slayed her. She wouldn't have been the first one to die by my hands."

Daenerys' eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.

Edwyn mirthlessly chuckled at her expression and continued, "Before coming to Essos to search for you, I went to Valyria to uncover its mystery. What I found there was something no one could have expected. The god those red priestesses and priests prey to, R'hllor, had made the island his domain."

Daenerys was aghast. She knew Edwyn wouldn't lie about it. But it was too bizarre.

He continued, "He had sealed the entire magic of Planetos to his domain. The red fanatics who sacrificed people, R'hllor gained power from that. For more than four hundred years he leeched on the magic of this world so that he could become a true god."

"If beings like him become gods just because they have the power... all those gods people prey to, they are just scumbags who became who they are because they were sick enough to play with the lives of others. Whosoever was responsible for my birth made the gravest of errors and now it's going to cost them their lives."

Daenerys took a lot of time for everything to sink in.

"... Hold on, responsible for your birth?"

Edwyn smirked and replied, "Took you long enough to notice that."

But instead of elaborating, he quickly changed the topic by saying, "Do you want to know why I never responded or reciprocated your feelings towards me?"

Daenerys looked at him like a deer caught in headlights.

Edwyn said with a chuckle, "It's painfully obvious to everyone around us. Or did you really think I wouldn't hear you moaning my name as you touch yourself at night?"

Daenerys acted like her parents had caught her touching herself and then she didn't know how to make the situation less embarrassing and awkward.

Edwyn stared far away in melancholy and sadness and said, "There was a time when I was capable of loving a person. She was my life. Such a pure soul, she was so pure and innocent. But she was taken away from me. The gods separated us from each other. That was the moment I vowed to exact my vengeance upon them."

He turned his head and looked into Daenerys' moist eyes and continued, "You remind me so much about her. It's hurts, so much, to be next to someone who is so similar yet so different from the one we lost. I cannot love you with a shattered heart that used to beat for someone else."

Daenerys gasped with emotion as her tears ran down her face. It was devastating for her. Edwyn cupped her cheek and wiped away her tears.

"I am sorry."

Back in Westeros, Cersei sat next to Tywin and patiently listened, "I had a night terror and I know you had a similar one. How? Because, Jamie, Kevan, Pycell and even the king had the same night terror. I believe it to be a sign from the Seven for us to beware. I do not know what, but you have to be careful with what you do and what you say."

Cersei gulped down a goblet of wine to settle her nerves.

Tywin continued, "About the Starks, there's no need to worry about them. I've made a deal."

Cersei cleared her throat and took some calming breaths. She looked at the parchment in Tywin's hands and asked, "What did the spider bring?"

Upon her prompt, Tywin began to read and as he read, his eyes grew wider and his blood ran colder than the true North. The parchment fell out of his hands as his breath hitched in his throat. Cersei was shocked to see Tywin of all people to get so scared from something. She quickly snatched the parchment from the ground and read and was left terrified.

"No.... no..." She repeated in absolute denial.

Tywin finally caught his breath and whispered in terror.

"A storm is coming our way... and with it will come the fires of vengeance... painting the realm red with our blood."

On the parchment was a brief tale of desolation left in the wake of Edwyn's wrath.

Essos was uprooted and soon, they will be next.
