77 Shinobi Council! Part-3

{Shinobi Council, Konohagakure, Land of Fire}

{3:48 PM, 1st July 78 Yrs}

As the discussion livened out once again Shikaku sat back down on his seat and began reading through the scrolls once again. Inoichi's comments about possible manipulation were helpful as he carefully dissected every part of the conversation that happened in the cave where Jun's hideout was.

'He knows a lot of information that some 20-something wandering shinobi should not know, he straight up lies about rumors regarding Gaara's seal because according to Jiraya-sama even he did not know what Suna did with the seal. He said he was checking up on Naruto and he also knows about him being an actual Uzumaki, this information should not have leaked even though most Jounin in Konoha don't know about Naruto's parentage...'

"...he could be an Uzumaki descendant could he not?" Hiashi asked forcing Shikaku to respond.

"He doesn't have the character traits, the red hair the large chakra reserves." Shikaku pointed out, but the doubt still remained since he knew a lot and looked like he was exceptionally skilled in fuinjutsu.

"He didn't attack anyone though right, I mean he had access to all of Konoha for who knows how long and there haven't been any incidents reported that could be traced to him right? So maybe he isn't an enemy, he did return Naruto safe and sound." Tsume reasoned she was trying to keep the discussion more neutral rather than jumping to conclusions and making unnecessary enemies due to a misunderstanding.

Shikaku interrupted though, he didn't want there to be any misconceptions about their new subject, "He gained Naruto's trust with the Uzumaki clans story, enough to make it so that Naruto didn't mention anything about the Uzumaki clan like 'Jun' asked him to..." Shikaku let that sink in and then continued, "He also probably knew that we would get access to Naruto's memory that's why he maintained the facade for the whole duration Naruto was there, maybe his whole story about the Uzumaki clan is a bunch of bullshit to gain Naruto's trust, did we manage to track down Uzumaki Karin or whoever that was?" Shikaku asked the ANBU commander, normally the ANBU commander was only responsible for answering questions from Hokage-sama but right now the Shinobi council was the highest governing body.

"Uzumaki Karin did participate in the chunin exams, she was part of the delegation that came from Kusa to take part in her exam, during the second phase of the exam one of her teammates died so she failed the chunin exams and went back to Kusa with her remaining teammate and sensei."

"How did someone even register with the surname Uzumaki without that information being flagged and reported up," Shikaku asked confused Uzumaki was an uncommon name and anyone using that name would surely gather attention.

"Kusa entered her through a fake identity of Karin Eiko, after interrogating the chunin responsible for the basic checks and identification based on her looks she could be identified as an Uzumaki, here is a photo attached." The ANBU commander put a file in front of Shikaku before he stepped back into his seat.

Shikaku searched through the file, the search was pretty detailed and even though the evidence was marked inconclusive it was enough to cause doubt.

"Send a team to sneak into Kusa, if she is an Uzumaki we need to at least make sure she's okay in Kusa, do a background check and if necessary the team would have extraction rights." Shikaku nodded to the ANBU commander before focusing on the main issue.

'This just makes this whole situation a mess, everything points to the fact that Jun could be a member of the Uzumaki clan but why do I feel so uneasy admitting that.'

Shikaku got lost in his thoughts again so Inoichi asked Kakashi, "How did he come up as, was he threatening or not, I wasn't able to catch that last part of your conversation from Naruto's POV."

"He was relaxed, not at all worried even when my Sharingan was uncovered, he quickly avoided my eyes and during our whole conversation by looking at my neck. He was confident in being able to escape and the only reason he escaped was when Gai arrived, he didn't even spare Asuma a glance..."

Shikaku looked at Hiruzen's only remaining son, he sat on the seat belonging to the Sarutobi clan but didn't protest against Kakashi's dig, though he did give Kakashi a glare.

'He was afraid of Gai's speed the only time when he revealed a flaw in his facade was when he was unsure he could compete against Gai's speed. So he is reliant on the Hiraishin a lot and that is his king...'

Knowing an opponent is the primary tactic in winning any fight the problem was though that the trump card of the opponent was almost an unsolvable trick that he couldn't work around.

"Haishi-san, a team of Hyuga would be needed to scan Konoha for seals daily..."

'First, we need to limit his options and the area he could move...'

"-Homura-sama, Koharu-sama please be ready to receive Suna's delegation to negotiate the peace treaty..."

'We need to limit the damage he could cause if he is against Konoha...'

"Kakashi, Team 7, Team 9, and Team 10 are from now on an indefinite leave, You, Kurenai, and Guy need to be ready for any intrusion, the only counter we have against the Hiraishin is genjutsu and Guy's speed-"

"I'm gonna take Naruto with me," Jiraya-sama interrupted Shikaku, after a brief look was shared between the two Shikaku nodded and then continued, "Then team 7 will be on an indefinite leave."

The council meeting quickly wrapped up after the initial plan was ready, even though Shikaku knew that they had a very passive plan this was the best he could come up with. As everyone started going their separate ways nobody focused on Danzo who hurried out of his room. His mind was a jumbled mess as he tried to figure out a way as to how all of this was connected to a genin from the reserve force.

AN- The story is hereby officially put on HIATUS... I'll be honest it was getting pretty hard to push through the last couple of chapters and then I had a bad month at work and it kind of unraveled.

I would like to rewrite this story later after I do some serious branching and define a clear plotline for it. It was my first story and I kind of went into it head-first without any planning...

In the meantime, I have started another story, this time the system is very clear in that story and it is in a different timeline from the original story, set during the times of the second Shinobi World War.
