17 Cursed Energy Manipulation
(A/N: This chapter is an info dump found from the JJK wiki. Don't NEED to read this if you already know about JJK's power system, specifically about cursed energy, manipulating it, applying it, black flash, and reverse cursed energy/technique.)
It was the night Jiraiya left and Dango was sitting outside, looking at the moonlit sky. It was one of those rare events where Amegakure wasn't raining constantly.
Dango was the only one awake as Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan were peacefully asleep. They went to bed earlier than usual because they were saddened by Jiraiya's departure.
Now that Jiraiya was gone and no one was awake, Dango was now comfortable enough to read the cursed energy manipulation book he was rewarded on his fifth birthday.
Under the moonlight, Dango began the first part of the book.

In JJK, cursed energy is born from negative emotions such as sadness and disgust. These negative feelings are common in human society, so almost everyone possesses cursed energy to varying amounts. If the amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the person the ability to see curses, which is considered very rare among the human race.
This collective cursed energy forms apparitions known as cursed spirits. They are invisible to non-sorcerers due to their composition of being entirely made up of cursed energy.
Jujutsu-related items such as cursed tools, cursed objects, and cursed corpses all contain cursed energy.
It should be noted that all things mentioned only applies in JJK as different worlds have their specific power systems, their own 'logic.'
For example, Naruto is a world that is riddled with wars, which would continuously produce mass amounts of negative emotions. Yet, cursed energy cannot be born from it. Naruto doesn't have the same power system that would allow the creation of cursed energy. The same logic applies vice versa.
Dango is the only exception to this rule. Thanks to his system, Dango can harness both the power of cursed energy and chakra.

Dango finished the first section of the book and moved on to the next section. It explained how to manipulate cursed energy. It was the largest section of the book.
The base foundation of all jujutsu is the ability to control one's cursed energy and use it to carry out certain functions. Being able to sense jujutsu and being able to use it is a world of difference.
Control over cursed energy requires innate talent and vigorous training. One such training method is having proper control over your emotions which is key to channeling cursed energy and preventing it from being wasted.
Cursed energy can be compared to electricity as it is also volatile and difficult to use in its rawest form. Although it could be used in its raw form for its blunt force, cursed energy is best used to fuel techniques in the same way electricity is best used to fuel electronics.
Sorcerers have to make their cursed energy flow through them and into their techniques to activate their unique abilities. To do so, most would believe that cursed energy starts from the negativity within their stomach which would flow through the rest of the body. However, dividing the body into different sections would delay the flow of their energy.
Instead, one must realize that they exist in the world with their entire mind, body, and soul as one. Such realization would greatly accelerate one's progression as a sorcerer as they would be able to understand and hastens the flow of cursed energy.
Currently, Dango is still trying to meet this realization. But the information did remind him of the first three skills he got - [Shattered Mind], [Empty Vessel], and [Black Heart]. They each reflected the mind, body, and soul aspects of the info. They didn't give him any epiphany from what he could tell, but he believed they had a connection to his ability to convert negative emotions into cursed energy.
There is a noticeable difference between elite and non-elite jujutsu sorcerers in their cursed energy flow. Elite sorcerers are difficult to read because they have greater accuracy in controlling cursed energy.

The third section of the book had information surrounding the application of cursed energy.
Physical attacks applied with cursed energy are just as effective as a cursed technique when it comes to gifted individuals who prefer close quarters. Doing so would increase their destructive power to superhuman levels.
Similarly, users can coat their skin with cursed energy to harden their bodies as a defensive method. Doing so will increase their ability to block incoming attacks, including curse-related attacks.
Conventional weapons can be infused with cursed energy to increase their strength. However, imbuing too much energy at once to a normal weapon can destroy it by compromising its integrity. A sorcerer must infuse small amounts of energy at a time. Over time, imbuing moderate amounts of cursed energy can transform a normal weapon into a cursed tool.
Raw cursed energy can be utilized as an explosive energy field by powerful cursed spirits, and possibly sorcerers of similar strength.
Dango was interested in the idea of applying cursed energy to his taijutsu.

After reading section three, it was time for Dango to move onto section four; Black Flash.
Black Flash is a jujutsu phenomenon that greatly amplifies the user's physical hit when they apply it with cursed energy within one-millionth of a second.
It is a distortion in space that is born when cursed energy is applied with 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit. This distortion causes the cursed energy to flash black which would amplify the destructive power of a normal strike to the power of 2.5 (Normal^2.5).
This technique requires incredible concentration, so much so that the no jujutsu sorcerer is capable of using it at will. Sorcerers who managed to unleash Black Flash gain an advanced understanding of the essence of cursed energy, far more advanced than their peers who have not.
Those who succeed in landing a Black Flash will temporarily enter a state of increased awareness of cursed energy, where the mental process of manipulating cursed energy becomes as simple as breathing.
It is said that it using consecutive Black Flashes is not as difficult as initially using it for the first time.

The final section of the book was about reversed cursed energy.
Cursed energy is born from the negativity produced by human society. Due to this negative aspect, human flesh cannot be regenerated by cursed energy even if it could be reinforced and hardened.
However, healing is possible through the use of positive reverse cursed energy.
Reverse cursed energy is created through a reverse cursed technique, requiring extremely complex and sophisticated cursed energy control. It processes negative energy into positive energy by taking two sources of cursed energy and multiplying them by each other.
As a result, the negative energy that destroys becomes the positive energy that creates. Although simple sounding, most jujutsu users are incapable of producing it. Though there are very few sorcerers who can utilize a reverse cursed technique and be able to heal themselves, there are even fewer who can use it to heal people other than themselves.
Other than it being used for healing, reverse cursed energy can be used to power a cursed technique rather than regular negative energy. Doing so would be recognized as a Cursed Technique Reversal. By applying positive energy, the effects of the technique will be reversed.

When Dango finished reading this last section, he wondered what his cursed technique reversal would be like. He can create pocket realms using his cursed energy or raw negativity, and so what will the opposite be?

Dango closed the book and reflected on what he learned. His understanding of cursed energy increased significantly from reading it.
Before his reincarnation, he was an avid fan of Jujutsu Kaisen and knew quite a bit about cursed energy. However, most of that knowledge was forgotten now that he hadn't had any access to the story nor wiki anymore.
Seeing the dark clouds that were beginning to flood Amegakure's skies, Dango decided to go back inside the hut. As he was getting ready to sleep, he made a mental note to try out the other function of his cursed technique when he was alone again.
