I decided that we should all learn the three body jutsu before tackling the much more advanced shadow clone.
Thanks to our daily play/training sessions all of our chakra control and basic taijutsu are already well beyond academy level. That includes even Choza(usually more into food than training), Shikaku(usually too lazy for training) and the more recently added Kira.
As such the three body jutsu (clone, substitution and transformation) should be fairly easy for us to learn.
The afternoon after our first official lessons in the academy we all met up in our usual training ground where I proposed learning the three basic jutsu before moving on to learning shadow clone jutsu in order to skip school in favour of hanging out and learning actually meaningful things on our own.
After contemplating for a short moment Shikaku as the smartest and laziest in our group agreed that having a shadow clone attend classes would allow us to spend our time much more productively (mostly napping or cloud watching in his case).
With that decided we headed to the Konoha library where we quickly found the scrolls for the three body jutsus.
So we began our routine of first attending classes and then studying the three basics in the afternoon.
Minato and me only needed about three days to master all three. So in the evening of the third day I made my way to the Senju library where I quickly found and memorized the scroll for the shadow clone jutsu (this is NOT multi shadow clone jutsu which is only stored in the forbidden scroll. The regular shadow clone is freely accessible in the senju library).
I was shocked at first at the absurd amounts of chakra required to make shadow clones.
So on the fourth day Minato and I started working on shadow clone jutsu which incidentally motivated the rest to work that much harder in order to escape classes together with us(though for different reasons for each one).
Before we started I made sure to repeatedly remind Minato to never attempt to make more than one clone before at least having jonin level chakra reserves.
After knowing that he would have to evenly divide his chakra among all his clones he solemnly nodded and agreed immediately.
On the fifth day Shikaku joined us in trying to learn the shadow clone after mastering the three basic jutsus.
I guess not having to attend boring classes is enough motivation for the lazy genius to apply himself.
On the next day Choza and Inoichi joined us after receiving the same lecture as Minato (Shikaku didn't need my lecture as I could tell from his expression that he immediately understood the danger of shadow clones), while I finally managed to create my first corporeal clone though it only lasted less than a minute.
Finally on Monday after practicing constantly during the entire weekend, Kira also managed to master the basic 3. She had the most trouble learning them as she was much more suited to taijutsu together with Hachi her puppy than ninjutsu.
At the same time Minato managed to create his first corporeal clone while I managed to make mine last almost 2 hours.
Finally after a month of constant practice we all managed to make a stable solid clone which finally freed us from having to physically attend the academy.
From then on we only ever attended the academy in person for our sparring classes(as one good hit destroys a shadow clone).
Even I had to attend physically as I would always be paired up against Minato who was by now strong enough to at least land a few good hits (thanks to his speed and extreme reaction time) on me most of the time(though I still won most of our matches due to my vastly superior combat experience).
Once we managed the shadow clone we felt it was time to learn some more advanced jutsu.
For the Ino Shika Cho trio and Kira they had their clan jutsu to work on. As for Minato and me, we decided to learn some elemental jutsu.
In order to know about out chakra affinity I asked my mom for some chakra induction paper.
I was pretty sure I knew which ones I had since I still have Hyorinmaru but I was curious about Minato's affinity.
As expected my paper got wet and then split in the middle when I injected my chakra into it. Minato's on the other hand crumpled up before splitting in half.
Which means my affinities are water and wind as expected while Minato unexpectedly also had a dual affinity for wind and lightning.
While the public library has some elemental jutsu they are only available to official ninja so we couldn't access them from there.
Luckily for us the Senju library had no shortage of jutsu for me to pick from. After all our clan isn't called Senju(a thousand techniques) without reason.
I decided to learn a water jutsu first as I could probably adapt it into an ice technique later. I chose 'water release: Gunshot' as my first jutsu as it is very basic and effective and should be easy enough to learn while giving me a substantial boost in combat power.
Its power can also be increased depending on the amount of chakra invested which suits me extremely well considering my surly tenant.
As for Minato he decided to focus on wind first. He decided to learn 'wind release: Gale palm' as it is a simple enough jutsu and complements his speed focused taijutsu style well.
Like this a few years passed. Minato, Kira and I turned nine while the Ino Shika Cho turned ten.
During this time we could feel the tension within the village rise. Everyone was becoming more and more on edge while the prices for ninja tools was rising.
It was becoming increasingly clear that a war was brewing which only motivated me even more to become as strong as possible as soon as I can.
At the start of every year we would attend physically for the first day before going as shadow clones from then on.
Today was this first day of the school year again so we all came to the academy in person for a change.
As usual the class was noisy with chatter until Misaki came in. After the boring old greeting she said "Today we have a new student joining us. She is from our close allies in Uzushio so be nice to her. Come on in and introduce yourself."
After she said this the door opened and in came a very cute girl with the most vivid red hair I have ever seen. It was even deeper red than granny Mito which is saying a lot.
"Hello my name is Kushina Uzumaki and I will become the first female Hokage dettebane" she started normally but by the end she was shouting from nervousness.
Everyone in the class except our group started laughing at her while we were just smiling at her.
The only exception was Minato who was staring at her starstruck and whispered almost inaudibly "Beautiful".
I doubt anyone but me and Hachi heard it.
After class quieted down Misaki told Kushina to sit down in the seat in front of Minato which just so happened to be the only empty one in the classroom.
As I saw how smitten Minato was I signed for Inoichi to establish a mental link between all of us excluding Minato.
'Did you notice how Minato reacted to Kushina?'
I asked the group.
'Of course. How could we miss such juicy material' answered Inoichi with a smirk while Shikaku nodded boredly. Kira had been told by Hachi so she also nodded pretending like she had figured it out herself, while Choza was far too interested in his bag of wasabi flavoured chips to pay any attention to us.
'So what do you guys think about inviting her to join us. To help Minato as good wingmen should' I proposed while winking.
After a quick discussion we all agreed so after class I approached Kushina and asked her if she would like to join us.
At first she was a bit suspicious as she had been teased quite a bit for her flaming red hair by our classmates during the breaks but after hesitating for a moment she agreed.
And so the 'red hot habañero' joined our gang of serial school skippers. Of course we taught her the three basic as well as the shadow clone which she mastered within three weeks.

Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out. I am extremely tired of writing about stuff in the academy so next chapter will be graduation and team assignments.
