4 leveling

' At this rate, reaching level 20 wouldn't take even a week,' Alex thought.

Level 20 was the first threshold, and after reaching this level, a person could choose a job and even convert their integrated nanobots to stats.

Reaching level 20 took about two weeks, but at this rate, Alex thought that they could reach it in less than a week.

It was when the first people reached level 20 that the world, as it was known, crumbled.

After level 20, an option called the shop was introduced that enabled people to exchange their integrated nanobots for items, skills, potions, and ….

But the thing that shook the world wasn't this. It was the fact that people could use nanobots as currency.

After that, money started to lose its value, and the governments began losing control over their citizens. People began dropping their jobs to accumulate more nanobots, and the more people reached level 20, the more everything changed.

Right now, Alex's first goal was to reach level 20 and get his job, and he was pretty sure that with the accumulated rewards that the system couldn't give him right now, he could choose an epic rank job.

"ok, Emy. let's go find more quests to do." Said Alex.

After leaving the porch, they went in the direction of the jungle. And searched for a while before Emily called Alex again, "Alex? was that cottage there before?"

Alex looked in the direction that Emily was pointing and was surprised to see a small cottage shrouded by trees.

"no, there must be another quest," Alex said and went to the cottage.

But when he put his foot on the first step to go up and reach the door, his foot went through the step and tripped.

"as I thought, the nanobots are still too scarce to be able to support my weight," Alex murmured to himself and just Knocked on the door.

The nanobots in his body simulated the feeling of touch and sound, but his hand still went through the wall.

After knocking, Alex went back to where Emily was standing and waited for the door to open.

When the door opened, an old lady wearing tattered clothes came out.

"Hello, young ones, I need some medical herbs. Can you help me?" said the woman.

'not even waiting for me to ask for a quest. The system is still too immature.' Thought Alex and said, "yes, can you show us the herb, please?"

The woman showed them a beautiful silver lily-like flower and said, "I need a hundred of these."

"ok," said Alex before hearing a notification in his head.

"wow, a quest with difficulty rate at this stage of the game. I can't believe my luck."

At this stage of the game, finding quests was relatively easy, but that was for quests without a difficulty rate that was very easy to complete.

"sorry? Your luck?" asked Emily with a raised eyebrow.

"yes, yes. Sorry, your luck,"

They went searching for the herb, but they didn't go even 10 meters away from the cottage when Emily found her first.

'she must have a hidden luck stat,' thought Alex and praised his sister for her excellent work.

After two hours of searching, they had two hundred of that herb in their hand and went back to the cottage to give the herbs to the old lady.

When they gave the herb to the old lady, she gave them another quest to search for another herb.

They searched for a total of eight herbs, and each time they spent more time finding more of the said herbs so that their quest completion rate could go higher.

After handing over the last batch of herbs, Alex and Emily heard the satisfying notification of the quest's end.

Alex and Emily both leveled up three times, and they could literally feel the changes in their body.

"aah, the feeling never gets old," said Alex with a satisfied smile.

Alex and Emily decided that it was enough for the day and went back home to eat and sleep.

That night, Alex explained the game's general rules to Emily and told her about different ways to level up, including killing creatures.

Emily's reaction was 180 degrees different from what Alex expected, and she couldn't wait to experience hunting for the first time.

Alex was dumbfounded, but considering her love of fishing, it wasn't too hard to believe she was also passionate about hunting.

The following day they went out again searching for quests and did about five more quests that day.

They both reached level 11 that day. Alex and Emily's stats had improved so much, and both had passed the human body threshold.

"Ok, Emily. From tomorrow we will also go hunting for some small holo-animals, but you have to promise me that you will not risk and just do as I say." Said Alex.

They had encountered some holo-animals searching for quests, but Alex decided to stay on the safe side and wait till their stats were a little higher.

"yay, I can't wait for tomorrow." Said Emily with enthusiasm and then dramatically put her hand on her chest and said, "I, Emily, will promise to follow all of your orders."

Alex laughed and messed up her hair a little before making dinner.

The next day, after doing two quests and leveling up once more, Alex told Emily to start searching for animals with odd shapes and sizes.

After a few meters, they found a giant squirrel the size of a dog.

"Ok, remember what I said. They are still not as fast as real animals, but you have to be careful. Use the knife to stab it in the head …" Alex was still explaining when Emily took action.

She was fast and didn't even give the squirrel time to react and stabbed it in the head with the large kitchen knife.

Alex was dumbfounded, and when he saw the giant animal disintegrate with loud shirk, he couldn't help but smile.

A notification rang in his ears.

"your party member has killed a level 2 giant squirrel."

"like that?" asked Emily with a proud grin.

"yes, like that. But you had to wait for me to finish what I was saying." Said Alex.

"ok, ok. Let's search for more." Alex wisely decided not to continue and turned around and walked in a random direction.

They never went more than a kilometer or two from their house, but they encountered a lot of animals and NPCs.

The animals were all under level ten and didn't have special attributes, so killing them was easy.

This process continued for three more days until they both reached level 20.
