1 Chapter 1

Today is a good day. I thought as I got out of bed. Last night a new prince was born, my sisters son. She was the oldest and married another prince from a neighboring kingdom. He seemed like a real piece of work. He treated everyone badly except her so that is why I put up with him. I was the middle child, the forgotten one. Which I was ok with. My younger sister, Annan, was currently away at school but was coming home for a few weeks to visit the new baby and to participate in the celebrations.

I jumped up out of bed as my maid, Milly came into my room. She pulled out my dress for today's festival. Since the theme was the ocean, she pulled out a pale blue shirt that reached the floor in the back, a white jacket with pearls lining it, and a pair of black pants. It was an outfit that I had made for my ocean trips but since Chloe got married, I haven't had the time since everyone was way too focused on her and I had to take over some of her duties when she got pregnant. Milly waited annoyed as I did my hair and make up. If it was up to me I would do everything myself but my mother insisted that I use Milly. So I, at least, let her get my clothes for me out of my closet and clean my room. Not that it needs cleaned anyway.

After I got ready, I walked down to my sisters room. The halls were full of servants getting the castle ready for the weeks of celebration. The noise and chaos didn't bother me much. I hummed a cheerful tone as I made my way to her room. I was excited to meet the baby. Since it was mid spring, the windows were open to allow in the fresh breeze. I paused at a window across from Chloe's door and slightly leaned out it peering up at the sky and looking down at the castle grounds.

There was a group of guards sitting on the grass a ways out but you could still hear their laughter as they ate. I could see a maid joining them as well. I was not one for being strict on the castle staff as long as they did their job. In my opinion, It was none of my business what they did in their free time as long as it didn't hinder their work. One of the guards looked up at me and waved. I waved back. His action caused the others to look at me. Once they seen who it was, all laughter stopped as they scrambled to their feet and bowed to me before they dispersed. The one who waved to me walked back to the right side of the castle shaking his head and laughing from what I could see. He did bow with the others which made me mad. I could tell by his uniform that he was one of the generals assigned to protect the castle. Seeing the group disperse at my expense, my mood dampened. It got even worse as I heard my sister's mother in law behind me.

"You girl. What are you looking at? You should be in the room right now tending to Chloe and her baby." the retched woman screeched.

I rolled my eyes as I turned around to look at her. "Yes ma'am." I replied in the sweetest voice I could muster.

I plastered a smile on my face as I entered the room. Once I walked in, all eyes were on me but they quickly looked away as I walked to a corner. My sister was in her bed holding the baby. My mother and her sisters were crowded around the foot of the bed praising Chloe and talking about how she is going to be the next queen. Chloe's friends were huddled to one side of the bed whispering to Chloe and looking at me periodically. No doubt judging my outfit.

As Chloe's husband enters the room, I grab the baby from her and put him in his bassinet. No one paid me any mind since all eyes were on the new parents who were engulfed with each other. The baby was asleep. I heard that they named him after his father. So that makes him Edward Charles Ive the second. He was sleeping so I just laid him down and then left the room. I greeted Annan as she arrived then I went to help with the preparations for the festival later tonight.

I found the person I was looking for in one of the halls inspecting flowers. "Hello." I greeted her with a smile.
