"Dima, the boss is calling," a man said with a deep sigh and handed Dmitri a phone as he watched the boy's chest barely move.

He slowly reached out with his hand and took the phone from the man's outstretched arm.

"What's up, Yakov?"

"They have Elena," the raspy voice said on the other side, with both of them speaking Russian.

Dmitri stopped chewing on the toothpick and his eyes widened in surprise as he realized what the voice had said.

"I was told you would get both of them, so tell me, brother, why did one kidnap my woman?"

"Boss, I can explain - "

"If they rip off even one hair from her head, I will feed your ripped guts to the street dogs in Moscow," Yakov said gravely.

Dmitri's face stiffened and his lips twitched. He could feel the intensity of Yakov's warning, and he knew there was no point in arguing.

"Understood."

Dmitri squeezed the phone in his hand as the call ended, staring at the Japanese boy on the floor.
