1 Change is Coming

It was a cool August morning and Tati had just woke. Her alarm was set for 9am but she didn't hear it. She looked to the right at the clock on her bedside table, 11am it read. "Oh shit, I slept in. What day is it?" Tati checked her phone and seen a missed call from her father. "Fuck today is the 8th, no wonder I slept in, dad must've made me sleep in". Tati got out of bed, showered and brushed her teeth. She picked out some jeans, a t-shirt, and threw on her black and white converse. After getting ready Tati headed downstairs to start her day. Once entering the kitchen Tati saw a note on the fridge from her dad, it read: had to go to work early, left breakfast in microwave, will call later to discuss dinner plans. Tati rolled her eyes, every year on August 8th her dad always wanted to have family dinner together, especially after her mother died. The 8th was perfect because not only does her dad get to celebrate her birthday with her but also gets to celebrate mom's too. Tati and her mother shared a birthday but 5 years ago she lost her battle against cancer and Tati couldn't care much for her birthday anymore but today she turns 18 and will be an adult.
