2 Quirky Ingots
Kasumi rocks back and forth in her computer chair watching "All Might - PLUS ULTRA COMPILATION #78" on YouTube.
"HAVE NO FEAR! BECAUSE I AM HERE!"
All Might's voice plays through the speakers. Kasumi has a Water Hose T-shirt and All Might pajama pants. Her pudgy face is a stark contrast to the emaciated face she had in her past life. Her blonde hair falls to her shoulders, and her grey eyes glow with excitement.
Speaking of her past life, she has no memory of it. She feels slightly off when she calls her mom mommy, so she calls her mom instead. She also feels slightly uncomfortable being around her dad, which weighs on her conscious because he's done nothing wrong. In fact, he's rather loving. She tries not to show it, but it slips through every now and then. Then again, it's most men that she's uncomfortable around. Her parents tried getting her some friends when she was young, but none of them clicked together except three. A green haired boy nicknamed Deku, a cute bubbly little girl named Uraraka, and a frog-like girl nicknamed Tsu. For some reason, every time she spent time with one of them the others would be busy. She had been introduced to another kid named Bakugo, but he had an ego so she never spent more time with him. She liked his mom though!
Her parents are extremely loving and frankly, they spoil her a bit. For example; Kasumi has a bit of a weird obsession with metal. She loves collecting ingots of metal. She has about fifty ingots of copper, twenty-five of bronze, thirteen small silver ingots, and a gold ingot about as big as her thumb nail. Her parents assume this has something to do with her still-dormant quirk. She may be like Iron-sam, a hero that has to eat certain metals in order to use his quirk, which fires missiles from his body. Well, she certainly got lucky if that's the case. Her parents are very well off, her father, Makoto Kaneda, has a quirk that helps him with designing clothes, and her mom, Zuri Kaneda, has a quirk that helps with architecture. These two combined have put their family in the top ten percent in Japan. Her father has designed many hero costumes, including All Might, Hawks, and Mirko. Her mother had a hand in designing several of UA's facilities as well.
All-in-all, Kasumi has it pretty good.
Kasumi is currently five years old, nearing six. This is concerning for her parents, because most people awaken their quirks at age five. They have gone to dozens of doctors, and even a person with a future seeing quirk, but the hero refused to see them.
As of now, her parents have relented in their search for answers, and instead buy her an ingot when she asks for it.
Kasumi stands up from her desk after the All Might video ends and picks up a copper ingot from a drawer in her desk. She hops onto her bed and starts playing with it in her lap. She looks at the mirror-finish on it and sees her eyes slightly tinted with the copper color. She smiles as she runs her fingers around the side of the ingot. As she puts the ingot back into the drawer, she hears knocking at her door.
"Come in!"
Zuri opens the door and smiles at Kasumi.
"Kasumi, get ready, I have to go to the bank. We can get you another thing of metal for your little dragon horde."
Kasumi's eyes sparkle as she hurriedly starts taking off her pajamas and getting into regular clothes. She puts on an All Might t-shirt, a pair of brown sweatpants, and a pink zip-up hoodie. Her mom puts her hair up into a bun with a cute little pink ribbon. As her mom finishes her hair, Kasumi turns around and sits on her lap to be carried. Zuri picks her up and carries her downstairs into a rather normal looking house, if a little bit bigger than average. It's comfortable for a small family. She takes her outside and puts her in a booster seat in the back of a luxurious SUV, with a grey paint job.
She takes her through the streets of Musutafu, Japan. The hero capital of Japan, and it shows. Walking the streets are several different licensed heroes on their patrol routes through the city. Every now and then, some stop and take a picture with someone or sign something. On the way there, Kasumi sees a hero couple and gasps,
"MOM! MOM! IT'S WATER HOSE!"
Walking down the sidewalk is a hero couple known as water hose, one of Kasumi's favorites. Their signature visored masks with snorkels on the front gives them away. Zuri sees them and rolls down Kasumi's window for her,
"WATER HOSE! THANK YOUUUUUUU!"
The couple looks at Kasumi and waves with big smiles on their faces before continuing on their way. Kasumi gives them a big toothy smile as she enthusiastically waves back. Kasumi turns back around and sits down, trying and failing to stop smiling. Zuri rolls the window back up and says,
"Isn't that neat? I didn't think they patrolled this area. Must have a villain with a fire quirk going around. Well, at least you got to see them."
Kasumi nods her head and takes out her figures of water hose from the seat beside her and starts playing with them. Zuri smiles as she looks at her daughter through the rear view mirror.
After a few more minutes of driving, they arrive at the bank. Zuri walks up to one of the robotic tellers and withdraws about 100k yen and puts it in her wallet. Kasumi wanders off while this happens and grabs one of the suckers from the counter before sitting in a chair by the wall and playing with her action figures.
A slightly fat man in a stained tank top walks in with an angry look on his face. He walks up to the teller's counter and puts his hand on the counter. His hand starts to glow red hot, catching the papers on the counter on fire. He then reaches out and grabs Kasumi's mom by the neck and yells at the robotic teller,
"I WANT ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE IN THE DRAWER OR THIS LADY GETS A BURN SCAR ACROSS HER FACE! NOW!"
The robot, having been programmed for situations like this, secretly informs the Hero Public Safety Commission (HPSC) of the villain's arrival, and attempts to talk him down.
"Sir, if you need financial help, we offer loans at low interest rates."
"I WANT THE MONEY RIGHT FUCKING NOW, TIN CAN I'M SERIOUS!"
Kasumi stares up at the exchange that last a few more seconds and starts walking towards the man and her mom,
"LET GO OF MY MOM!"
She yells out at the man, causing him to look over at her. He smiles creepily as her turns back to the robot,
"THERE YOU GO, CLANKER! I'LL SCAR THIS LITTLE GIRLS MOM AND THEN HER! NOW GIVE ME THE FUCKING MONEY, LAST CHANCE!"
The robot once again tries to calm the man down, seemingly not programmed to give up the money until the last second.
The villain, having had enough, starts inching his red hot hands towards Zuri's face. Kasumi, who sees this starts freaking out,
"MOM!"
Kasumi reaches towards the villain grabbing her mother. As her hands shoot out, her eyes turn a glowing copper color. A copper-colored energy envelops her hands before shooting forward, mimicking the shape of her hands. The energy smashes into the face of the man, rocking him to the right before crashing into the tile wall behind him, leaving a crack the size and shape of a little girl's fist in the wall.
The villain staggers for a second before spitting out some blood and bits of tooth. His hands and face start to glow red hot as he gets angrier and angrier until the sleeves of his jacket start to burn.
"YOU LITTLE BIT-."
He charges towards her with smoke coming from the top of his head, Kasumi rears back in a panic and punches again. The energy shoots forward with incredible speed, leaving a trail of energy behind it. It slams into his stomach and causes a ripple to go through his body like a tsunami. He doubles over in pain and spits out another mouthful of blood. He looks back up at Kasumi with hate-filled eyes before another burst of energy slams into his nose and knocks him out.
Kasumi looks at the unconscious man as sweat completely covers her body. She looks at her hands and falls over onto her knees as her mom runs over and holds her close to her as her body goes limp and she loses consciousness.
Kasumi wakes up a few minutes later and finds Water Hose and several police officers gathered around the now conscious man. The female member of Water Hose comes up to Kasumi and sticks her fist out for a fist bump. After Kasumi gets over the shock of her literal hero wanting to give her a fist bump, she bumps her fist.
"Good job, kid! He may have been an F-rank, but a villain is still a villain! You did a good job. You'll make a great hero one day!"
She gives Kasumi a thumbs up and a toothy smile before standing back up and helping escort the villain out of the bank and into a patrol car. Kasumi starts crying tears of joy after having her hero call HER a hero. Her mom picks her up and holds her tight with tears in her eyes, giving Kasumi lots of kisses on the cheek.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you, sweetheart! Never put yourself in danger like that ever again, okay?"
After many I'm sorry's and I love you's, Kasumi and Zuri decide to head home and wait for dad to get back before heading to a doctor to get her quirk appraised.
