10 Noblemen

As he opened the door to the Registrar's Office, he noticed that there are already five people currently waiting for their turn to be assisted.

All these five are not wearing their uniforms just like him. However, he can tell that they are of higher status with their appearance.

"Are you going to enroll?"

Cyril heard a woman's voice on his side and noticed the middle-aged lady at the desk.

"Yes…"

"Do you have a letter of recommendation or you'll just take the normal examinations?"

"Ahh… I have this token with me." Arial quickly pulled out the token provided by the headmaster.

At this time, the three young noble ladies and two young noblemen looked at him at the same time… or perhaps, they were looking at the token that he just pulled out.

He already looked at this silver token and it was just engraved with a shield and rose which is the mark of the Academy.

He thought that this should just be a normal token for acceptance in the academy or perhaps, a core testing pass provided to him.

"You're-- I see… Please fill up this form."

The middle-aged lady seems to have something to say but decided not to continue. Arial didn't think too much of it and accepted the paper and took the provided quill pen.

'It's really just basic information…'

What he needs to fill up was just his name, gender, date of birth, age, and the others like about his health would be filled up by the examiners as it seems.

"Since you have the Headmaster's recommendation, you don't have to pass the tests for the examinations. You are free to take them or not…"

"Eh? Is that so?"

'No wonder why those five looked at the token…' Arial thought.

"Well, I would like to know more about myself. I think it would be great to attend the examination."

Since it wouldn't matter whether he passes or not, he'd rather take the test and see how he would fare compared to the nobles of the kingdom.

Since he knows that he has no talent with the Mystic Arts, he's aware that he wouldn't do well with the examination.

However, he still has no idea how bad he is!

Taking this test would surely help him rather than hinder him.

"Alright… We only have one examiner assigned for this afternoon. You will be the sixth person to be called. Just sit there together with the five."

The middle-aged lady gestured to the seats available.

"I understand. Thank you." Arial slightly bowed as a habit and took the seat at the furthest back.

As he seated comfortably, the two young noblemen approached him.

"I'm Luke Andris and this is Michael Faymann… Since we're both enrolling here with recommendations, we will surely pass this exam so I think that it's good to know each other."

Luka is a fairly short young man with semi-long silver hair. Though he speaks politely, Arial can tell from his eyes that he's looking down on him.

Probably because of the clothes he's wearing.

Nevertheless, Arial decided to greet them back since he might get some information from them as well.

"I'm Arial Wolden… Nice to meet you."

As soon as he said this, Michael on the side frowned slightly... This man has a darker shade of silver hair and is a couple of inches taller than Luke.

His muscles show that he trained his body for years compared to Luke who has a small frame.

'Is he the bodyguard of this young man?' Arial guessed since nobles or rich families would normally have them.

Nevertheless, what truly surprised him was the young man's stature.

'He doesn't look fifteen at all!'

"Wolden… I've never heard of that family. Michael, you should've heard about them, right?" Luke pondered for a moment before asking his companion.

"I'm sorry, young master---I mean, Luke… I haven't heard of any noble family with that last name. Ah! Wait… Are you perhaps related to the previous chief of the Royal Guard?"

Michael finally recalled the last name as he asked Arial. Arial thought that no one would know this since as per Henrik's words, he didn't stand out at all in the noble society and was forgotten after a certain incident that he doesn't want to mention.

"You're correct. Right, do you know what kind of exam we will be taking?" Arial asked to change the subject.

The two men looked at each other before explaining it to him.

"Most of the tests should be about our affinity to mana. After all, this is a Mystic Arts Academy and not some Knight School. Since you received approval from the Headmaster himself, you don't have to worry about it."

"I see…" Arial nodded at Luke's words. The two then lost interest in talking to him since they perhaps realized that he wasn't that influential nobleman after all.

Anyway, he didn't know their families as well. Henrik only mentioned to him the names of the Royal Family and Count Ploense's family since he would have to guard their only daughter.

Soon, the door in front of them opened and a young nobleman who seemed to be quite happy came out.

He was then followed by a man working in the office and called one of the ladies' names.

"Amina Lechner… You're next."

Then, the young lady with blond hair stood up entered the exam room.

Arial didn't see her face since she's seated in the front but he could tell that she's quite nervous based on her body gestures… her breathing, her gait, her hand gestures, and even from how she was seated a moment ago gave clues to Arial.

'Ugh… I'm overanalyzing again… I need to calm down.'

He took a deep breath.

He can overthink sometimes and he knows that this had all happened after his Fifth Stage of Experimentation. During that stage, his sensitivity to the surroundings or brain activity was greatly enhanced to the point that it has to be limited by medicines…

He could still recall how his one minute feels like an hour… If not for his completion of the Sixth Stage, he would probably need to take brain limiter medicines forever.

Right now, at the very least, he just needs to concentrate and his Fifth Stage perks will calm down.

"Larissa Breunig…"

"Selina Schell…"

"Luke Andris…"

"Michael Faymann…"

The names continued being called out until he was the last person in the room.

After 10 minutes of examination, Michael came out with a smile on his face.

"Arial Wolden."

Finally, his name was called out as he entered the examination room.
