12 Chapter 11: Reina
“We didn’t see anything but the damage inside the house and… corpses.”
My eyes went wide as I covered my mouth with my hands.
“C-Corpses? Whose c-corpses?” My lips are trembling, trying not to cry.
The headmistress closed her eyes and massaged her head because of my question. It looks like she shouldn’t tell this information to anyone.
“I-I… I shouldn't tell anyone about this, but you deserve to know it,” she said with a lower voice.
She stood up and faced the glass walls, she was watching the birds, flying freely. She touched the wall while her hand is on her back. I saw her reflection in the glass windows, her tear fell on her cheek, and she smiled sadly.
“I’m glad when I knew the bodies that have been found weren’t them.”
I sighed, trying to calm myself. I closed my fist to calm my trembling hands, I’m scared. I am so scared when I thought they left me. I don’t know what to do anymore if they are gone.
“I know them.” She faced me. “They are strong. They can’t just give up. Besides, these creatures are lower than any demons out there.” She laughed evilly. “They underestimate them.” She shook her head.
I frowned. “They? Who is it, miss? A-And what do you mean by lower than any d-demons?”
She chuckled. "I almost forgot that you are new at this."
She went to the bookshelves and touched every book using her index finger. Her finger stopped at the dark purple book. She took it and gave it to me.
"Read that and memorize them. I think that will also include in your exams."
I looked at the book before I return my gaze at her. “No need, miss. I'll borrow the book in the library.”
She shook her head and smiled at me. “I will give this to you. I don’t need this book, I already finished it when I was about your age.”
“Okay… T-Thank you..” She nodded.
The book is dark purple, and there’s a golden color on every edge of the book.
“They escaped from those demons and hid. I am sure that they are fine, Jasmine. So, you don't have to worry,” she said and smiled at me.
After we talked, I went to the cafeteria for breakfast. I already knew that I’m the only student in here to eat because they went home. And I am not wrong when I went in.
I look at the glass walls of the cafeteria. I watched the clouds moved on their own and the birds flying freely in the blue sky. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I can watch them all day if this was my view.
I held my stomach when I felt that I am already hungry. I went to our usual place and put the book on the table. Then, I went to the counter to choose my food. I couldn't help myself to curse because of my hunger.
I took the plate and chose the three pancakes, then sliced strawberries. I put them at the top of the pancakes. Also, put the slices of bacon at the side of the plate, sunny side up egg, and hot chocolate. Hmm... If I’m the only student in here, why did they prepared so much food for breakfast?
I shrugged. I put my plate in the tray before I swipe my card on the flat screen. And when I was about to walk when I heard the door opened. I looked at the entrance, and I saw a girl went in.
The shock was written on her face when she saw me but replaced afterward. She looked at me curiously as she closed the door. I looked away and started to walk to our usual table.
I did not expect that there’s a student in here besides me. I thought I’m the only one in here. I turned around to see the girl. She’s choosing her food at the counter. I can’t see her face well, but as I saw it earlier, and she was beautiful. All I can see is her hair until her arms.
I look away when she saw me looking at her. I returned my gaze at my food and to the book that the headmistress gave me. I opened the book, and I also started to cut my pancake, then ate it. The book has no title, and the writer’s name is not also written in the book. The first page is blank so, I flipped it to the second page.
The book is not written on a typewriter or not even printed; it was written by hand. The information was written in cursive. Also, it was labeled in every part of its body. There are also drawings of different creatures. I can’t help but to amazed. The drawings were so detailed and clean. I love to draw and paint, but not this great.
While observing the information written in the book, I realized that this creature is what headmistress Luna meant. They have different levels. I looked at the drawings, so these what demons looked like.
I stopped when I saw two pairs of shoes on the floor. I look up and saw the girl earlier. She was smiling shyly while holding her tray. I also smiled at her, and I slowly closed the book without leaving my eyes on her.
She blushed without a reason. Her lips were trembling, and her eyes were unfocused. I don’t know why she’s nervous because it was obvious on her face that she is a confident girl. She has beautiful gray almond shape eyes, a narrow nose, and heart-shaped lips. Her beach wavey hair is also gray.
“Uh, h-hi,” she said shyly and bowed a little. “May I sit here? Uhmm… I-I don’t have anyone with me.”
Her lips rose a little bit, and her eyes twinkled, but it went gone when I blink.
I nodded and smiled in response. She slowly put the tray on the table and then sits in front of me. She gave me a small smile before she bowed and started to eat.
I ate quietly and opened the book again. I saw in my peripheral vision that she is looking at the book. Her eyes were twinkling while watching the drawing in the book.
Because of her astonishment, she could not help but ask. "You draw that?"
I chuckled. “No.” She went near to see the drawing. “Someone gave this to me so that I can study,” I said while smiling.
When her eyes went wide, it was also twinkling because she was amazed. I can’t stop myself but chuckle. She is leaning on the table while trying to see the details, so I gave her the book.
“Ohh… wow!” She flipped it to the other page.
I watched her carefully, her face is young, and she’s a small girl, but her beauty and innocence are obvious at her age.
I stopped when I heard the door opened. I looked at the three men who went into the cafeteria. It looks like the girl noticed who am I looking for so, she looked too.
She raised her right eyebrow. I was surprised when her shy expression went gone.
“Why are y’all here?!” She shouted to the three men.
No one answered but, they were frowning while looking at me. Their gaze turned at the girl in front of me.
She crossed her arms. “You said, you're not hungry!”
"We're just here to accompany you, Reina," the man said at the left while frowning, his hair styled with clean cut.
“I think… there’s no need to accompany you.” The man at the center chuckled, his long short hair is messy. He looked at me and wink.
The man at the right was quiet and doesn’t have an expression. He slicked his hair backward, but there's a little strand of hair left when he brushed it. I saw him looking at me so, I looked away and turned to Reina.
Reina was stunned when I think she realized something. She shook her head and laughed. She looked at me with a wide smile.
“I'm sorry! I forgot to introduce myself!” Her expression turned back. I smiled at her. “I'm Reina, and that's—”
"Let us introduce ourselves, Reina." He sighed. He faced me and smiled slightly, then, bow his head. "I am Topher." The man at the left introduced himself.
The man at the center chuckled. “Rheocynth, but I prefer Rheo, miss.”
I nodded and smiled. I looked at the man at the right, he’s still looking at me. It looks like the others noticed that he didn’t speak so, they looked at him.
He blinked when he realized. He looked away and cleared his throat, I saw how his adam’s apple moves. He returned his gaze at me, and I saw his ears went red without a reason. Why his ears turned red?
“C-Cadmus,” his voice was deep when he introduced himself.
Reina raised her eyebrow and pouts. “You okay, Cad?”
“I’m fine.” He closed his eyes tightly and left without saying goodbye.
The three of them looked at each other and then turned their eyes at me. Reina narrowed her eyes at me.
“Don’t mind him,” Rheo said and sighed.
“I know who you are…” Topher whispered while narrowing his eyes.
