14 Ling Tian's Flaws

Wooosh!

Just when Ling Tian was only about a few steps away from the demon repelling grass the sound of something traveling through the air fell into his ears and he felt a chill running down his spine.

Without looking back Ling Tian slammed his feet on the ground and immediately jumped a few meters away.

As soon as Ling Tian jumped aside, an ear-splitting explosion rang out behind him, but he didn't pay any attention to it, his main priority right now was to find out his enemy, but when Ling Tian turn around to look in the direction where the attack came from, he was dumbfounded!

He was surprised to find that there were no signs of any enemy around him, the forest was still as calm as before, even the leaves on the trees were still without showing any sign of disturbance, it was as if the previous attack came out of thin air.

When he turned his head to look at the place where the attack landed, there was neither any cloud of dust in the air nor any crater on the ground, instead, he saw a few meters deep hole that was no wider than an average adult's arm.

It didn't look anything like a fierce beast's attack at all; it was as if someone used a spear to stab the ground.

This discovery caused his hair to stand on end, taking out his dark steel sword; he immediately became even more vigilant as he tried to find his hidden foe.

Wooosh!!

After a few breaths, the sound of a projectile flying through the air once again fell into his ears, surprisingly this time the attack came from a completely opposite direction!

But since this time Ling Tian was already prepared, he was able to react faster. Noticing the incoming threat, his body reacted almost instantly and he jumped to the left, while in midair Ling Tian suddenly twisted his body to look behind and he was finally able to see the thing that was attacking him.

It was a pinkish tentacle no thicker than an adult man's arm with an extremely sharp, spear-like tip, but the most important thing was its speed, it was so fast that even Ling Tian who had a very sharp eyesight was barely catching its glimpse!

When Ling Tian Looked towards the other end of the tentacle, he saw a very vague, almost invisible silhouette hidden in between the woods, but it seemed to blend in its surroundings and its outline was so faint that Ling Tian couldn't tell exactly what it was, in the end, he had no choice but to use the system to find out its identity.

His actions caused the rainbow-scaled lizard to panic and it hurriedly launched a barrage of attacks on Ling Tian to stop him from advancing any further.

Seeing the incoming barrage of attacks, Ling Tian had no choice but to stop in his tracks and move sideways to dodge but the rainbow scaled lizard's attacks were just too fast, the moment Ling Tian dodged one attack, another one would follow right behind it, giving him no opportunity to think. Even with his inhuman reflexes, Ling Tian was barely able to dodge its attacks by a hair's breadth.

But it was not as if Ling Tian was completely helpless, as time passed, he gradually became used to rainbow-scaled lizard's attacks and soon he was able to predict their trajectory, which made it easier for him to dodge, suddenly the dark steel sword in his hands moved.

Puchi!

A resplendent sword light flashed past, followed by a burst of fresh blood, and in the next moment, the rainbow-scaled lizard's tongue was cleanly divided into two pieces.

Hisssssss!!

A painful hiss resounded throughout the whole forest and suddenly a giant lizard that was more than three meters long, covered in colorful scales fell from a tree with a loud bang!

The lizard continuously rolled on the ground as it hissed in pain, right now it was feeling as if its tongue is being bitten by thousands of ants; the pain was so intense that it even forgot about Ling Tian.

Seeing the rainbow-scaled lizard so defenseless Ling Tian didn't hesitate any longer, his figure darted towards his enemy with extreme speed.

"Flowing wind sword technique!" On his way Ling Tian suddenly slashed his blades forward, resulting in nine silvery wind blades that emerged out of thin air, rushing towards the rainbow scaled lizard leaving behind large gusts of wind.

By the time the rainbow-scaled lizard recovered its senses, it was already too late, with a loud bang, all nine vicious wind blades mercilessly fell onto its body, causing it to be sent flying for a few meters before it crashed into a giant tree.

The rainbow-scaled lizard fell on the ground as it roared in pain, right now its condition was extremely miserable, its beautiful scales have been shattered to pieces leaving behind deep bloody wounds!

Suddenly it looked at Ling Tian with bitter hatred and resentment, but the next second it did something that exceeded Ling Tian's expectations, instead of rushing over to attack him, it turned its back to Ling Tian and chose to flee immediately!

Although it was not very smart, but its instincts were very sharp, the rainbow-scaled lizard knew that it wasn't Ling Tian's opponent, even more so in its present condition. If it continued to be stubborn and fight Ling Tian then it would die without a doubt!

That's why it chose to trust its instincts and fled, the outline of its body suddenly blurred and it jumped on a tree to escape.

Seeing its actions, Ling Tian once used the flowing wind sword technique to attack it, but this time the rainbow scaled lizard was able to dodge his attacks.

Even though its body was more than three meters long, its speed was unexpectedly fast, no matter how hard Ling Tian chased, the distance between them continued to increase and soon the blurry silhouette of the rainbow-scaled lizard disappeared from his sight.

Knowing that he couldn't catch up Ling Tian stopped chasing, although he failed to kill the rainbow scaled lizard, through this battle Ling Tian was able to see through his own flaws.

Although Ling Tian's offensive power was extremely high, even unrivaled in the same realm but this battle made Ling Tian realise that his speed was far from enough.

If he was faster then he wouldn't be having so much trouble dodging the rainbow scaled lizard's attacks and he would also be able to stop it from escaping.

It could be said that Ling Tian's speed was just above average, and he also knew why.

"Looks like It's about time I buy a movement technique." Ling Tian looked at the amount of Heaven Defying points he had and finally made up his mind.

After storing the demon repelling grass in system's space, Ling Tian opened the heaven defying shop to look for a skill suitable for him.
