She loved him in the past and maybe still loved him but she could never forget his loathsome deeds and ruthless words. She has vowed that she would never allow herself to become muddle-headed because of her love for him!

"Prince Nicholas, have you ever longed for a little sibling? Don't you feel lonely? Moreover, I also want a little brother so that I could pamper him!" Rosella was sitting on a swing with Nicholas in the grapevine yard.

"No, I do not wish for a sibling. I do not want him or her to be involved in the political struggles in the palace! Besides, do not get upset, we will have a dozen children in the future. You can pamper them" Nicholas loved teasing Rosella.

Rosella was blushing so much that she resembled a cute tomato! But secretly she wished for this to come true in her future!!!

While Empress Rosella was busy wandering in her thoughts, the Imperial Doctor had arrived in the hall. As he had been informed of the situation before, he greeted Prince Nicholas and directly went to the Empress to check her condition.

The Empress' condition was getting worse.

"Replying to His Majesty, Prince Nicholas, the Empress has been poisoned with the Araachnia Poison, the Empress has only nine hours left. After that, no one could save her life!!!"

(A/N: Araachnia Poison is something I made up myself. So, it would not be on Google or in books!)

Araachnia Poison was considered as one of the rarest but the strongest poison in the Helian Empire. And it's cure was even rarer, only two-three people had the antidote which was also not a hundred percent accurate. This poison was not painful, instead it's symptoms resembled pregnancy symptoms.

Occasionally, the recipient would puke out blood one or two times, otherwise, no one would be able to detect it's presence.

Since the Imperial Doctor Aldainne has served for more than thirty-five years in the Palace, so he was aware of all the poisons that are commonly used in the Imperial harem by the concubines to harm each other.

Though it was the first time that the Araachnia Poison has been used, so Imperial Doctor Aldainne didn't have the antidote in his infirmary.

After hearing the Imperial Doctor's analysis, different emotions were being displayed on the faces of the people present there.

It was completely unbelievable that the Empress herself could be poisoned. Though there were previous attempts of poisoning too but Empress Rosella was an intelligent lady, who was knowledgeable in medicine, war arts as well as the politics. She has given a valuable contribution to the welfare of the Helian Empire.

Though she was not the number one beauty in the Imperial City she was talented enough to compete with the Emperor himself. Only her family knew how many suitors were beaten up by them relentlessly, for persistently pursuing Rosella in her younger years.

So, the attacks and schemes failed before they could even harm her. But it was known throughout the city that those who dared to harm Empress Rosella were personally tortured by her. She needed to protect herself, so she gave good examples to those who wanted to end her.

She would personally peel off their skin or feed them to the hungry, wild rats.

Therefore, many of the concubines didn't dare to provoke her. Even Emperor Austin didn't dare to provoke her when her anger was on the ninth level!!!

"This is the so-called fate! Finally, my torment will be ended, but I have never expected that death would be the one who will free me from this never-ending pain.!!!" The Empress thought with both melancholy and pleasure. But her face was expressionless.

"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have lost at all. Sometimes I wish I were a little kid again, skinned knees are easier to fix than broken hearts."

Emperor Austin was shocked as well. He used to think that nothing or no one could harm Empress Rosella.

She has tactfully dealt with all the attacks on her. He remembered that before his marriage to Rosella, he had sent a bunch of assassins to kill her but she killed all of them in a gruesome way! She even attached a note on the body of the leader which was full of curses that he could not even think of!!!

This was a test to know whether she was eligible to become his Empress instead of Merlia. Merlia, at that time, was the number one beauty in the city and obviously, his love. So, Merlia was the perfect candidate to become an Empress, in his eyes.

But his Imperial Father and other Ministers were hell-bent on making Rosella, the Empress.

The real brother of Empress Rosella, Brandon Knight, was on the highest military post. He was the General, more than half of the military power was in his control. He was considered as one the greatest General that the Helian Empire had in its history.

But Emperor Austin often created hurdles for him and kept him busy in trivial matters.

General Brandon knew that his sister was leading a pitiful life. He felt useless for not being able to do something for his little sister. And now his sister was dying, he felt so miserable. He was so much enraged that he felt like burning the whole palace down.

Each and every person present in the room had somehow wronged his precious sister, whether it was Emperor Austin, Merlia or Prince Nicholas. The ministers were no less!

"Little sister, I promise you that I will protect you forever from these vile men and women who want to harm you. I will chop them into thousand pieces and feed them to the wolves!!!" It was during the time when Rosella took the poisonous arrow to save Prince Nicholas.

"Moreover, Prince Nicholas will help me as well, he loves you so much! Your brother loves you, your parents love you, your friends love you too! Please wake up sister!!!" Brandon's eyes were red from trying to control his tears, and finally, the dam broke and his tears shed continuously...

But General Brandon had never thought that Prince Nicholas will turn out to be a such a vile creature, who would sacrifice his love for his selfish ambitions! He wanted to strangle Nicholas with his bare hands for giving so much pain to his dear sister Rosella...
