Chapter 9: Heart Beat

After the cops left and everything settled down, Prue smiled appeared on their faces. They were free and no one could take it from them. Both of them began to work. They took everything of their fathers in the house and threw it away. They even called men in to take his bed and wardrobes. Every picture with him in it was gone. By the time it was 9:00 p.m., they were exhausted. They were both about to go to bed when the phone began to ring. Brian and Prue looked at each other and sighed. Brian then gestured her to go to sleep, he can handle it.

He picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Yes, is this Brian?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"I am from Child Protective Services. Since your father is no longer with you, you need a guardian. I have a list if you'd like-

"No, we're fine. The legal age to live alone is 16, were both 16."

"Oh..ok then. Your right, you have the choice to live alone. Just call us back if you need anything."

The woman on the other side hung up the phone and Brian smiled. He walked back to his room and stopped in front of Prue's door. Sighing, he opened the door just a tiny bit so he could catch a glimpse of her. She was asleep in her bed, with a smile on her face. Brian felt accomplished that day. He freed himself and his sister, the only person in the world that mattered.

That night he smiled going to sleep. They both dreamt of their freedom, and what they would do with it.

….

The next morning Prue opened her eyes to the dawning sun. The rays of sun hit her eyes making her wince until catching her vision again. She smiled as the smell of pancakes filled the air. The nose followed the scent as she crawled out of bed. Leaving her room, she slipped on her pink bunny slippers. Her hair was in a messy bun and she had fuzzy pink pyjamas on. She had just turned the corner and her jaw dropped.

"M-Marcus?!" She yelled in surprise.

Indeed it was Marcus. He was sitting at the table with Brian eating pancakes. Brian laughed and looked back at Marcus. Brian's smile went away slowly as he saw Marcus blushing as he stared at Prue. Prue quickly ran back around the corner. Her heart began to speed up and she blushed like crazy. She finally calmed down as she reached her bedroom. She suddenly noticed that her heart wouldn't stop beating so fast. It felt like a tiny drum beating as fast as it could. It was a song that only she could hear. Ba-bum ba-bum ba-bum. Though she didn't know why her heart was beating so fast, she knew that their relationship wasn't normal. It was theirs.
