Chapter 5: Issues

When they arrived at the school, her father parked in his special space and the three of them exited the vehicle. Marcus and Prue walked into the academy hall and her father went to his office. As Marcus and Prue reached their classroom door, many huddled around them. The students all had glares on their faces, most were girls too. One girl, Rebecka, walked up to Prue as everyone moved out of her way. Prue rolled her eyes with irritation. Marcus stood aside with his usual glare.

"We should have seen this coming! Prue is going after Marcus!" Rebecka mocked with a barbie like voice. "Poor Marcus has no idea what she's really like, a gold-digging tramp!"

Prue was dying of laughter even though her face was still in poker like expression. Prue, a gold digger? Please! She is the wealthiest student here, besides Brian. Their father is the headmaster for god's sake! She didn't need a man to pay for her every need when she could buy anything she wants. Prue turned around and opened the classroom door. She has no expression on her face. Sitting in her desk, she pulled out her notes and waited for the teacher. Marcus watched from beside her as she did so. He was quite surprised at her reaction to Rebecka's comment.

"What is wrong with her? She's so weird.' Marcus said to himself as he walked to his desk.

….

After class, it was lunchtime. Usually, Brian would sit with Prue outside, but since he wasn't here, she sat alone. When she walked outside with her lunch box, the sun warmed her frozen skin. She was blinded as the sun reflected on her dark brown eyes. A smile crept into the corner of her mouth and she smiled. As mentioned before, these were moments they truly cherished. It was normal for Brian and Prue to sit and eat quietly. Both of them enjoy the silence because when they got home, they would only hear excessive yelling. The birds sang and the cherry blossoms fell. With every second, she smiled a little more. Her smile didn't get too big because every time she thought she was safe, something always happens. She is saving her biggest smile for a moment that's unforgettable. Sometimes she thinks that the happiest moment will never come. Will this be as good as it gets? She might not ever know.

Suddenly something hit her. It didn't hurt, but it splattered everywhere. Something had fallen from the roof which is over 30 feet high. It was a piece-of-cake? Prue looked confused, what had happened? She looked up to see what it was. The sun blinded her before she could focus. On the roof was Marcus and two other boys. They were bullying him?! Prue quickly wiped the cake off her uniform and ran inside. She hung up her lunch box and ran up the stairs. Why were they beating him up? Prue ran as fast as she could to see what was happening. When she reached the rooftop door, she shoved it open. What she saw was true, it was Marcus getting bullied. One boy had him by the collar of his shirt, pinning him against the rooftop fence. The other boy was punching his stomach. Marcus wasn't crying nor did he look like he was in any pain. His eyes were closed but anyone could tell it hurt.

"Stop it!" Prue yelled as she ran up to them.

Marcus suddenly opened his eyes with a surprised look on his face.
