Chapter 23: Morning Vistors

The next morning, Marcus awoke to a loud knock. Marcus lived alone in a condo near Brian and Prue's house. They also lived in a condo. The sun was barely up and someone was already here? Marcus was not morning person, no matter how quiet he is, he was ready to scold whoever dare wake him up from his precious sleep. Getting up, he slipped on his uniform and shoes. Walking to the door, he groaned as he walked down his stairs and through his living room. Opening the door, he was surprised. Brian?

"Good morning!" Brian said cheerfully.

Brian is usually quiet and kept to himself at school, so this side of him was only seen occasionally.

"What are you doing here?" Marcus asked in his weary morning voice.

It was a Monday so Marcus was in his uniform. Crystal Academy logo was of a cursive C in a crystal lining. Brian wasn't in his though.

"Where's your uniform?" Marcus added.

"Prue and I are going to take you out today, to find a job!" Brian said cheerfully.

Marcus instantly lowered his head. It's not that he didn't want to go with them, it's the fact that he got up so early for this! Brian felt genuinely happy to get another chance to hook up Preu and Marcus. Marcus gestured Brian to come inside the house as he yawned. Brian turned around to the car and gestured Prue to get out. She was also excited to see Marcus again, though she didn't express it well. It was her job, or used to be, to look, sound, and be perfect. It was mid-spring so she had on and floral top with white shorts and sandals with crystal flowers. Brian had on a yellow top with shirts. Preu got out of the car and went inside with Brian and Marcus. His house looked like theirs, simple, yet good.

"I'm going to go change, you can take a seat," Marcus said as he walked up to his stairs.

Brian and Prue sat down on the sofa. The house was like any other wealthy condo. Everything was lined in shiny metal and the walls were grey with no color at all. The A.C. was on so the room slowly filled with a cool breeze. It was silent. Was it always like this? Doesn't it ever get lonely, being alone? These thoughts scammed through Prue's mind while Marcus was gone.

Suddenly there were footsteps coming from upstairs. Brian and Prue looked up as the small tapping sound in the room. It was a dog? A golden retriever with golden locks which sparked in the sun shining through the windows. Prue and Brian were very fond of animals, especially dogs.

"Awww!" Brian and Prue yelled cheerfully as the dog came down the stairs.

The dog instantly ran to them as it heard the sound of their voices. Brian and Prue dropped to their knees in excitement as the fluffy creature became entangled in their arms. The golden retriever lit up their faces like a rainbow in a cloudy sky. The dog licked their faces in excitement as they pet it.

"Bella!" Marcus yelled from the top of the stairs.

The room suddenly became quiet and filled with a cold and empty aura. The silence was deafening and the tension built. They were so busy petting the dog that they didn't even see Marcus there. He looked… mad?
