1 | Prologue

Ziiiiip!

"Alright, that's everything" Aldrin said with a cheerful tone.

"Do you have to leave so soon son?"

Aldrin looked over his shoulder to a woman with short black colored hair, light grayish blue colored eyes.

"Yes mom, I'm leaving now. Please understand that I'm doing this to further my academic career"

"I know I know, it's just that rent is high, the cost for food and utensils are even higher. Plus the cost for houses is just Ridiculous-"

"Honey, I think our son gets it. Besides, this is his decision not ours"

The burly voice said with a cheerful yet calm tone. The voice would come from a man, his hair was a lighter shade of black sporting small grains of gray hair, his eye color was a darker shade of blue. And he had what many may call a Dad bod.

These two older folk would be none other than Aldrin's parents. 'Nathan & Margaret Foust'. Aldrin both respected and admire his parents a lot as he grew up, even going far as to always live up to their expectations, even though they tell him to live his life the way he wants rather than what they tell him to do.

"Thanks dad, and sorry for leaving on such short notice"

"No need to apologize Aldrin. And besides, this could be a great learning experience for yourself. And it's a cheap apartment too, lucky you" Nathan Smugly Joked.

Alden merely shook his head at his father's rye smile, he'd than pick up the bag he had zipped up over his right shoulder.

"Really though, thank you. Mom, Dad. You've done so much for me, I couldn't have asked for better parents"

Nathan gave an understanding nod to his son, while Margaret tried her best to hold back tears. Nathan sighed inwardly, hugging his soft hearted wife.

Aldrin smiled, walked over to his parents and embraced them both into a big family hug. Nathan and Margaret reciprocated the hug by wrapping their arms around Aldrins body and embracing their son lovingly.

"We'll be here waiting" Margaret spoke softly.

"If you ever decide to come back, know that our doors are open at any time son" Nathan said with a gentle tone.

"Right, I'll remember" Aldine merely gave a soft smile, his voice a mere whisper to his mother and father's ears.

...

After for what seeemd like hours of saying goodbye. Aldrin managed to catch the nearest bus ride to his new apartment, its location was about 3 hours from where his folks lived at.

How he managed to find an apartment for so cheap, he himself wasn't sure. Maybe it was a sign from god telling him to take the risk and try and be independent.

1100$ a month, that was the rent cost. He was surprised at first, but quickly went over the details of the lease and information related to the complex that the apartment is under for.

Turned out, these particular apartments were very old, yet still had some tenants living their regardless of how old it might be.

He found these apartments by mere luck, visiting websites for houses and apartments for rent and or sale. It was also his birthday today, marking the 19th year of his age.

'Sigh, this is it. I'm on my own from here on out, that just means I gotta work to earn my keep' Aldrin thought inwardly.

Leaning his head against the window of the bus, he'd watch as the bus drove past roads and streets he wouldn't see in quite a while. Slowly though as he watched, his eyes began to feel heavy, his mind becoming a bit hazy, and the sound of noise becoming scarcer

Finally, he had fallen asleep.
