20 SHE'S GOOFY

Liam went back to the police station with the three chocolates in hand. He was smiling foolishly while looking at it. He ate one of the chocolates before starting his work once again.

On the other hand, Janella has been asking information about Sofia but she couldn't find any information at all. Even those people who claimed to be Sofia's friends didn't know much anything about her.

"It's given. It's the first day of class, I don't think she'd share any information of herself to other students." One of the students stated to calm down the woman in front of them.

"You're right." Janella agreed. "But I think I found something entertaining. She seemed to like Will."

"Will? As in William your boyfriend?"

"Shh! He's not my boyfriend."

"Oh."

The other women looked at each other and there was this tacit understanding between them but they didn't say anything. "Anyway, I'll deal with her later. As for now, let's go and find our favorite toy to play." Janella mentioned and they went to the cafeteria.

"We're a bit late this time." Another woman butted in. "She finished eating her lunch already and went back to her class."

"She has changed her schedule?"

"I guess."

"Smart." Janella commented. And without stopping on her track, she walked inside the cafeteria. Most of the students made way for her and didn't dare stay on her way. Those who were almost done eating tried to finish their food as soon as they can, some were even choking in a hurry.

Everyone knew how cunning Janella was but they just couldn't find any evidence that would lead back to her wrong doings. They didn't know who's backing her up.

Sofia, who left earlier to see Liam was now famished. And she even gave her chocolates to him. She didn't realize who foolish she was up until now but she was still happy that she achieved her goal.

"One more thing." She pulled out her phone and sent him a message. 'Have you arrived back in the station?' she sent it and walked to the nearest vending machine to get some milk. Just as she put in the straw to the cartoon, her phone buzzed and it was message from Liam.

'I have arrived. It must be you, Sofi, right?' Sofia giggled happily when he guessed her identity correctly. She actually thought he'd ask her 'who are you?' but this was a little different.

'You guessed it right. I saved your number from my brother's phone. Remember that I used your phone to call him that time?'

'Yeah. I didn't expect you'd save it.'

'Of course. I will. I haven't thanked you yet. Next time, I'll treat you to lunch.'

'Hn. I'll let you know when I'm free.'

'Okay. I'll go back to my room now.'

She was about to put her phone inside her pocket when she caught sight of his last message. It was gif of a cute little bear wishing her luck. Sofia laughed softly which made the other students look at her. She's really mesmerizing. And her laughter was really beautiful to hear. It was like a gentle breeze in summer.

She left the place and walked back to her next class room. Even though she was only there to act as a student in order to win Liam, she was still paying attention to what the teacher was saying. This was something engraved in her brain. If someone's teaching her, she has to pay attention to every words and action of person. How else would she become the next successor if she didn't pay any attention to Lucas?

Although the teacher wasn't really discussing anything class-related, because it was the first day, she still listened to her.

"Hey Sofi, where did you go earlier? You left your food untouched and we're worried."

"My brother called me about something very important. I had to run or I'd miss it." Sofia answered with half-truth. It was Yusef who called her, one of the people she treated like brothers and her best friends. He also said something very important which was all about Liam, so in Sofia's mind, she really wasn't lying to her classmate. She only answered her using different words.

"I bought sandwich for you. Eat it or you will faint from hunger." She handed her a sandwich when the teacher wasn't looking at them.

"How much is this? I can pay you."

"There's no need. It's not much."

Sofia thanked her and started taking bites on the sandwich that her classmate gave her. Some students at the back were chuckling at her sneaky gestures; eating and pretending she didn't do anything when the teacher looks at her.

Just as she was about to take one last bite, the teacher turned around and caught her red-handed. "I knew it. Someone's really eating in the class. I can smell the bacon and ham."

The students looked towards Sofia and laughed. They didn't expect that a student like her, pretty and looked smart, would eat during class, right in front of the teacher.

"Sorry, prof." She covered her mouth and burped which earned her another laughter from her classmates. "I'm really hungry. I had to deal with something very important and missed my lunch. I'm so famished that I started feeling dizzy. I've been listening to your words and I wanted to find the energy to continue to listen."

Her classmates were stunned. Not only was she making excuses but she was buttering up to the teacher as well. But if they were the teacher, they would let her actions slide but the professor was different.

She narrowed her eyes at Sofia and crossed her arms on her chest. "Alright. Prove to me that you were listening and wasn't just eating."

"O-okay." Sofia stood up with the small bite of sandwich left. "Can I finish this? It's a waste to throw it away." The students couldn't stop laughing at all. She was really brave to even continue eating even after getting caught.

Sofia took the last bite of her sandwich and crumpled the wrapper before throwing it inside the bin. She went to stand on the podium and looked at her with a smile.

"You've got some ketchup on the side of your lips." One of her male classmates mentioned which she instantly wiped with the back of her hand. Where's the elegant Sofia? She's gone. She turned goofy when she became hungry. But in fact, it was all part of her acting. She needed to make sure that everyone will like her because she belongs with their group. She didn't want to make them feel that she's out of reach.

She started to recite what the teacher said, word for word and even copied her gesture. The teacher and the students were shocked and amazed with her superb memory but all of a sudden, she stopped.

"Why are you stopping?" Her teacher asked with raised brow.

"Uh…It's because I don't remember the next part. That's when I got so hungry and couldn't focus anymore."

Sofia teacher couldn't hold back her laughter anymore. Along with the students, they laughed and chuckled at Sofia's honesty and bravery.
