218 They're looking for you

The scar on Guan Ting's cheek glimmered under the overhead fluorescent lights as he stepped closer. His face was cold and serious, like he had something important to say.

"What is it?" She asked.

Guan Ting's eyes briefly scanned their surroundings before fixing his eyes on her, and his voice dropped lower to make sure it wasn't carried around. "I've already sent word to Juyan about their death, and I've had the men transport their bodies to the Juyan headquarters."

Ying Yue momentarily stilled. She knew whose bodies he was referring to. "How did you explain what happened?"

"I told them they were caught in the encounter between the Jade Circle and the Dragon Club."

Her lips pursed as she thought it over. Technically, it wasn't a lie. There really was an encounter between the two syndicate groups. Only, they weren't killed because of it. They were killed because of Mo Yiling's betrayal-- and partly because of her.

She looked away. "Anything else?"

His eyes narrowed. "They're looking for you."

"Who?" She turned back to him with a frown.

"Juyan's legal team." He gave her a curious look. "Juyan Intelligence Agency is an enterprise owned solely by Xu Feng. And apparently, he's left instructions to the legal team that in case anything happens to him, a certain Ying Yue will be taking over Juyan. They say there's even a will."

Ying Yue's heart raced as she recalled what Mo Yiling said about that -- that Big Boss had left Juyan to her instead of him.

"The legal team said they'll be contacting you today." Guan Ting's face showed a slight confusion. When he was on the phone with the people at Juyan, they mentioned that they'd never met this Ying Yue, and that they only figured she was the wife of Fei Huangjin after looking into her profile, thus asking him to send her word about it. However, wasn't she a Juyan agent? "They also said they've never met you."

"Okay." Ying Yue didn't feel the need to explain about it, and she was too tired to chat about the fact that she was only known as "shadow fox" in Juyan. She nodded and turned to go, leaving Guan Ting scratching his neck.

She went off in search for a doctor at the station.

"Don't think I'm happy that you two haven't visited the old mansion yet since your marriage. Your grandmother has been eagerly waiting for you to visit, but you two seem to be too busy to visit old people like us, eh?" There was a sly look on the old master's face as he eyed Fei Huangjin carefully. "If you take any longer to visit, I'd conclude that you have no respect for your elders. And then this happened!" He gestured to his grandson's weak state.

"Grandfather…"

"Don't give me that tone, boy! You're not the one who has to deal with your grandmother's constant nagging to get both of you over to the house."

Fei Huangjin sighed. He knew the conversation would turn to this. His grandmother blamed his grandfather for everything, and in turn, his grandfather blamed him for it. "We'll visit when I get out of here," he reassured him.

The old man looked at him with narrowed eyes and huffed, dismissing the topic. "I heard you took out the Jade Circle."

"Mmm."

"Every last one of them?" He pressed.

"No, not everyone." Fei Huangjin grimaced. "We've rounded their high-ranking officials, and warrants will be served today to those government personnel who have acted as paid members. But so far, we still haven't figured out who their vanguard is, and where he is."

"Well that's lousy of you." The old man's words made Fei Huangjin want to roll his eyes. "How many casualties do we have in the Dragon Club?"

Fei Huangjin raised a brow. "Do you need to know? Aren't you the retired master?"

This riled him up. "I put up that syndicate; there's no such thing as a valid retirement for me!"

His grandson chuckled in response before growing more serious. "Perhaps around a hundred." About a hundred had probably died in a span of a few hours. The war between the two syndicates didn't just occur in S city, it was a nationwide purge of the Jade Circle. Sadly, there was bound to be some losses on their side, too.
