16 Chapter 16

Ashlyn started helping out with the decorations as people murmured about how she was being treated as a servant.She looked especially concentrated on fixing all the decorations but her mind was elsewhere.She was more interested on knowing which crystal was her's and she was determined to take the purple crystal with her if it rejected her step sister.

She was about to place the last fork on the table when a hand grabbed her wrist."Conner has been so long since you visited me!"

Ashlyn froze.She turned her neck to look at Conner who had his hand on her wrist.She wanted to push him away but she had no choice."I came to pick up my wife."He stared coldly and Sisse froze.She smiled awkwardly and looked at where Conner's hand was.

"Let it go."Conner whispered into Ashlyn's ear and she instantly let the fork go.He turned her around and wrapped his hand around her small waist.Ashlyn felt a surge of anger.She wanted to slap his head away but it was either endure or get exposed.

She lowered her head and let Conner take the lead.Conner frowned.His wife was back to how she first met her.He felt annoyed all of a sudden.What the heck is she playing at? he wondered."Ha ha sister go check on dad he wants to speak to you..." Sisse signaled her to leave.Ashlyn sneered internally.

Sure.This way she would get rid of Conner.She nodded and tried to get away from Conner's hold but he refused to let her go."I will accompany her." Not letting anyone protest her arrogantly dragged Ashlyn outside the hotel.

Ashlyn gritted her teeth knowing she could not do anything.SHe could not get exposed damn it.Except from her house and her friend's presence she would never be her normal self and always act weak.

Conner softly laid her on the back seat and closed the door.Staying on top of her he asked."What was that about you were supposed to wait for me."

Ashlyn came near his ears and whispered something"Can you control the security cameras of this hotel?" .He nodded and she finally spoke like her normal self."Alright first of all get off me second i never told you i would come with you."

Conner froze.Her change in attitude changed way too quickly.``Yeah yeah it's no big deal.."She said making distance between them.

They were both now sitting down properly."Explain."

"humph i have nothing to explain."

"Ashlyn..."he warned

"It's none of your business." Conner understood no matter what he did she would not tell him anything.Considering their relationship which couldn't be considered more than strangers he patiently walked out of the car and got inside the driver's seat.He sighed."fine you don't have to tell me right now."

Ashlyn rolled her eyes and put her hand on the door handle ready to leave the car.Before she could exit Conner locked the doors.She glared at him."didn't you say i don't have to tell you anything"

He smirked at her."Yeah but i never said you weren't coming with me."

"leave me i have to go back and help my sister out."Conner's expression turned dark."Are you stupid she's clearly treating you as a servant."

"I KNOW THAT YOU DUMB ASS!" Ashlyn snapped.Conner turned to look at her dumbfounded.In his life he had he ever been called a dumb ass.Such a business genius like him could never be even considered normal.

"Stupid if you know it then why do you let them bully you?"He turned around to stare at her.Ashlyn didn't say anything and turned to look away.

That's when Conner finally got a good look at her slightly swollen cheek.It was not very noticeable but if a person examined closely it could be seen that a very heavy injury was being covered with a counselor.

Conner gritted his teeth."Who did this?" Ashlyn looked at him and raised an eyebrow."Did what?"

"stop playing dumb with me who slapped you?!"Ashlyn was stunned.

Why did he care?

She didn't say anything and turned her head to the window ignoring him.Conner closed his eyes,annoyed with her attitude.It was too difficult for him to see which one was her real self nonetheless deal with her attitude and the weird feeling in his heart.

He really felt it was unbelievable that he could not see through a person or understand them at all.It his years of experience he could always tell peoples intentions but it seemed that he became completely stupid when it comes to Ashlyn.

Contemplating whether it was a good thing or a bad one he turned the car on and drove back home.
