3 CHAPTER THREE (3) Discomfort

Mrs Chen shifted uncomfortably on her chair and a growl almost escaped her throat. Her husband noticed her discomfort and used his gloved hand to wrap hers sitting on laps.

"Mr Roberts, it's not in our place to decide for them. They are both grownups and will have to decide if they want to be together or not..."

"No, I mean yes." Mr Robert interrupted. "Children don't always make the right decisions that's why we are given the privilege of being their parents, to help them out." He paused then continued. "Just look at how loyal the two has been, no one has a girlfriend or a boyfriend. It means they like each other but are taking things slow. Too slow." Mr Robert sighed.

"Then just like you said, why don't we let them continue taking things slow until they are sure." Mrs Chen added. There was no way she would decide a partner for her darling daughter!

Mr Chen's hand tightened around hers.

The evening ended in goodbyes and merry Christmas in advance wishes as the two couples parted way.

Now Rose sat in front of her vanity mirror, wearing a black night dress. Her hair still wet, she closed her eyes feeling her long black hair and sighed.

For the first time in a long time Rose felt like she needed a retouch to her hair. She was beginning to act too old for her age, no make, no time for spa, not even for her nails.

Then she rolled her eyes, "What has gotten into me?" She stood up and went straight to her home office table, picked up her laptop and the files Xu Dandan had dropped earlier.

She had some works to finish, but because she had spent her whole day in the bakery she couldn't.

Rose made the worst decision when she decided to settle on her bed to complete her work.

There was a faint knock on the door but no reply came after it. Then Ren Jiayi pushed the door open, entered to find a fast asleep Rose. She covered Rose with the duvet, packed the files and the laptop to the table, turned off the light and left.

Birds chirped loudly outside and it made Rose frown deeply, then she used the duvet to cover herself and continued sleeping.

Xu Dandan pushed the door open to see someone curled up in bed and prayed silently in her mind that it wasn't her boss.

"Boss Rose!" Xu Dandan screamed after pulling the duvet off to discover it was truly her boss. "What are you doing?" There was shock on Xu Dandan's face.

Rose stretched on the bed and yawned loudly. Her eyes slowly opened. Rose seemed to be unconscious of her surrounding for some seconds. She had never slept this long in like five years now.

slowly realization dawned on her as her eyes widened.

"What is going on?" A very shocked Rose wiped her face and rubbed her eyes.

Xu Dandan hissed, "It's eight thirty am! What are you still doing on the bed?"

Rose scurried out of bed without saying another word and dashed towards her bathroom.

Xu Dandan facepalmed. 'She must have been really tired out.' She sighed and dropped herself on the room couch.

It didn't take long before Rose reappeared, now wearing a black blazer, black turtleneck top, a white knee length skirt and black boots.

'Almighty I feel you're biased, how can you bless one person with a good brain and intelligence, beauty and sexy banging body? But still thanks for all you gave me.' Xu Dandan said in her mind.

"Let's leave," Rose said and headed for the door.

"Why do you have a vanity mirror filled with different cosmetics when you don't use any?" Xu Dandan let the question out.

"You want them?" Rose asked as they headed out.

"No, thanks."

Now, they were at the foot of the stairs.

A young lady in a black and white maid costume came to serve Rose tea and biscuit.

"I'm late already, I'll take the lunch pack and leave. The maid bowed, took two steps back before turning to head back to the kitchen. She soon returned with the lunch pack and Ren Jiayi behind her. She handed it over to Dandan.

"You should have woken me up." Rose complained with a frown on her face.

Ren Jiayi smiled at the young lady. "You were tired out yesterday, so I thought you needed it."

Rose sighed, "Thanks."

"Oh my goodness!" The young maid said out aloud. And the other two turned to look at her, while Rose continued looking out the open windows.

"Go back in, Qingge." Ren Jiayi said to the young maid.

She bowed and quickly excused herself. Their young miss must have woken up from the wrong side of the bed. Or maybe because she overslept. A whole Miss Chen just said thanks... well that was a great way of starting her day.

"Make a stop over at the company before we head to the site," Rose said to her driver once they got inside her silver Maserati Levante.

The young driver, He Duyi bowed. "Yes ma'am." Before starting the journey.

The Chen Empire,

Ye Zedong reported to Rose on the results of the new produced goods for the market.

"We are putting it in the market from tomorrow and await reviews from our loyal customers."

Rose tapped the fountain pen in her hand against the table as she listened to Zedong dish out the ideas.

"How many goods do we have, ready to enter the market?"

"Ten thousand strawberry cupcakes, fifteen thousand chocolate cakes, ten thousand butter filled biscuits, another ten thousand vanilla flavored peanuts and twenty thousand fortune cookies because it's festive period."

A broad smile spread on Rose face, "Good,"

Xu Dandan brushed shoulders with Ye Zedong whom felt very proud of himself. He was the one inspecting the whole producing process and decided to rest yesterday before going to pick his boss parents from the airport. They had also called this morning to say their plane will be departing soon.

"Tomorrow is sixth already, we will need more goods to last us till on the thirty first." Rose said.

"We are already working on that." Ye Zedong assured her.
