5 CHAPTER FIVE (5) Happy Memories

How Rose had saved her from a group of strange men. While she did nothing but watch in awe.

Rose's strength always amazed her. And Rose had saved her in many more occasions than that first time.

"What I want to know is what you two are doing here. And why these caterpillars are bringing down the house and store!" Su Yuanqi was really angry because he didn't understand anything going on. They were standing far from the buildings but breeze was blowing dust towards them and he just happened to fall into a heap of them.

There was a crawler excavator busy pulling down the building and a loader packing it out.

He had only left the country in a week just to be called back by his friend that there was an ongoing construction happening at his restaurant.

The landlord hadn't even called to inform him.

What is wrong with this rich families?

What is with Rose always buying properties as she pleased?

"And who are you?" Rose asked without turning around. "As far as i know the only person with the right to question me would be Mr song or Mrs Song."

Yes, that is his gullible landlord's name and his wife's whom always controlled him. "I own the restaurant."

"Urban Remedy?" Xu Dandan questioned, surprised. So the owner of Urban Remedy is actually a young handsome man like this? Why did I always reject Zedong's invite to a dinner? Just why? At least I would have met him earlier.

"Yea," came Su Yuanqi's reply.

His confirmation made Rose to turn around. "Oh, sorry for my manners earlier. I'm your new landlord, Chen Rose Lan." She offered her hand but he refused to take it.

Why would he shake the hand that would have destroyed his face if he hadn't dodged?

Su Yuanqi couldn't be anymore surprised than as he was when coming in from the back gate to see her name written boldly with white paint on the gate.

He had just left for a week, to have his rest. Gave his two chefs holidays as well but was called back for bad news. He didn't even believe Xiong Delun at first because that friend of his was known for making jokes. How he wins at court still surprises Yuanqi.

"You should have at least contacted me before bringing down the whole building."

"Why?" And this smile he considered as the most menacing smile appeared on her beautiful face. People called her all sorts of sweet names but in his mind she was just one evil wealthy lady, with beauty and brain.

Maleficent! He'd rather call her that. It suited her more than the name Rose.

This was what she was good at, buying people's property for her real estate business and turning it into something totally different not forgetting to increase the rent fees.

One of the reason he never liked her. Why would she consider this building though? It didn't have much land like the types she usually purchased. And it was on the main road.

"I am the landlord and I say what is done."

"Like destroying people's property and paying them twice the amount of it?" He asked angrily.

"Try not to raise your voice." Xu Dandan tilted her head at him with her most meanest look.

"Ah, seems like you're finally back to your senses." Yuanqi stated.

Xu Dandan's mouth fell open in shock. Wait, why was he directing his anger at her? She isn't the one that bought the building...

"You don't even care about the memories they made there! You just care about your stupid gains and profits." He took a step closer, braced for anything she was going to do next. He hadn't been prepared earlier.

"What memories? If you kept all the memories of you, will you still be here?"

Her question sent a wave of shock to him. What did she mean by that? Did she say it for saying sake or there's another reason behind that statement.

He would have loved to question her, but that would be him opening up to her. Opening up on wounds he tried his very best to treat and allow heal.

She then took a step closer. "Do what you're best at, which is cooking and stop talking. Just like I am doing the thing I'm good at, stealing and destroying properties!" Well, that's what he said.

Yuanqi was dumbfounded for the first time since he got here. She wasn't even ashamed of accepting the truth? He had always watched her on television (because everyone in the country worshipped her strength and beauty. His customers too, so he had no choice but to watch along with them) buying properties and shaking hands with the property's owners. Never had they been a day he thought she would come for his. Never!

"Take my secretary's card and give her yours. We will contact you for any damages caused." She grinned at him.

Yuanqi shook his head and laughed out loud.

"Just like you said, we will give you the times two of the money. Or even thrice of it. Name it." Xu Dandan said, ignoring that hideous laugh.

"No," Yuanqi stopped laughing and his face became rigid. He has been running this restaurant for good six years, he can't simply just accept the money and walk away. What will his mother do? She depended on him and he has vowed never to fail her. What will happen to all the happy memories he has with Su Ruanqi? Their pictures he hung on the walls, his mother's smiling face. His happy customers, his chefs... no way! It gave him headache thinking about all that.

"I'm not giving in that easily to your stupid demands!" With that said, he bent and picked up his books and walked away.

"He will come to terms with it, don't worry." Xu Dandan assured Rose.

"Not like I care." Rose said and headed towards the car.

"Yeah, we don't." Xu Dandan tried to copy Rose's confidence but she ended up sighing and face palming. "He doesn't look that easy to me!"
