8 Chapter 8: Us

'Is.. is that why you vist me, because I can see you?'

His heavy low voice replied back

'Yes, but the fact you see me wasn't enough by itself to keep me around, Arvela' He sniggered. I watched his eyes slowly turn its attention towards looking at my lips.

I felt a sudden pit in my stomach from it, or more accurately, butterflies.

'You know, for someone who hasn't spoken and interacted with vampire or human life for 10 years, I must say I find it easy to talk to you' He walked further into the park and I followed.

'How did you manage to get the curse' I asked.

'I was young when it happened'

'Young!' I was taken back by it

'How young. You seem a lot older in age to be a young vampire' 

'I'm what they call an individualist vampire. Both of my parents conceived me as vampires, and so I never had to go through the transformation process. I was simply born one.'

I had read about vampires meticulously, but never of the sort he had just described.

'So you eventually grow old?' I wondered.

'No, there comes a time where an individualist vampire, thats if he or she wanted to stay the same age, must preform a ritual in which they sacrifice...something especially meaningful they owned within that period of their age... so they remain that age forever.'

We then stopped, by now we had reached a large open meadow field covered with long wild wheatgrass and buttercup flowers. The suns soft warmth and flare added to the idyllic scenery. 

I sat down on the field out of sheer tiredness from walking and took my coat off. As I came to use the bobble I kept around my wrist, it suddenly snapped whilst I was in the process of tieing my hair up. However, he used his vampirism way of movement and was quickly able to reach the bobble, just in time to catch it before it landed on the floor. He came sat next to me.

I smiled and said ' Vampires sure do come in handy with times like this, thank-you..'

But as I was about to reach for the bobble he held in between his long fingers, he pulled it back and said,

'I'll do it.'
