The Beta's Son

Sapphire's POV

I stood up as quick as I could and lunged at the guy with my fangs bare and my fists ready to land on his face.

But Xander pulled me back, making me gasp from the force.

"Sapphire, don't. He's the beta's son." Xander spoke softly with his eyes still glued on to the guy. His expression clearly shows that he might not want to harm him but he doesn't trust him either.

It took me a few seconds to calm myself down so I wriggled out of Xander's grip and sighed, turning towards the guy in front of me with his eyes widened with shock.

"What's your name?"

He gulped and gave a friendly nod. "My name is Mark, I am the beta's son of the pack." He gave a slight bow and took in a deep breath. "I'm not going to tell on you but you need to hear me out, your majesties."

"We're not THE majesties. You may call the king and queen that but you can call us as YOUR HIGHNESSES." Xander scoffed which earned himself a nudge on the arm with my elbow. A bit too hard if you ask me.

"Don't mind this idiot." I pointed at Xander but he wasn't even joking. He keeps glaring at the guy which is starting to make him uncomfortable. "Just talk."

He nodded his head and cleared his throat. "Depending on how long you've been here I assume that you already know their plan." He spoke softly, making sure that no one inside would hear us. "I was against it but I had no power or whatsoever to stop them. They wouldn't listen to me." He said and clenched his fists which made me remember his voice from earlier. So that's why he was mumbling something when he went out.

"So?" Xander hissed.

"I want to help you!"

I crossed my eyebrows and sighed. "Why?" I asked with a monotone. I don't like backstabbers. "You'll be betraying your pack for helping your mortal enemy. So why would you help us?"

"You are not my mortal enemy. We have been created to live alongside of each other. Our kinds are not so different. We have nothing to fight about other than power which I don't seek. Since I was a little kid I have seen their ways which I have prove are wrong." His head hung low and his hand clutched his chest. "I have seen them kill innocent people just to feel superior. So that they could feel that our kind is the most powerful of all beings."

Xander cleared his throat and ran his fingers through his hair. "And what payment do you need if we let you help us? You don't even have a clue if we even need your help or not."

"I don't need anything. I just want to prove something to myself. I want to prove that I am not like them in any way." He defended, almost shouting but he cleared his throat when he realized the change in his tone. "I'm only offering my help. If you don't need or want it then it's your decision to make. I just wanted to help in anyway that is possible."

Sighing, I finally spoke up to reassure him that we didn't need anything from him. "We came in as a group. Part of our group had already gone to get Casey and we're only here in case someone were to find out about us being here. By this time I think they've already gotten her out."

His eyes held a sign of relief as he sighed with a smile. "That's good news." He whispered so quietly that I barely heard it. "But what was the noise that we--" Before he could even finish, something crashed with people screaming.

"Alert the Alpha!!!" A man shouted before he screamer in pain.

My eyes widened with fear as I don't even know of they got Casey out of there.

"Xander." I breathed and looked at him.

His breathing stopped for a second before he looked at me with fear in his eyes. "It's Aiden" He breathed. "He's going to kill them all. We have to stop him before it gets worse." He looked at Mark and walked over to him. "You wanted to help, right?"

Mark nodded eagerly. "I'll do anything."

"Then help us stop Aiden from killing all of the pack members."

As soon as he nodded, we starting running towards the dungeon as screams and loud crashes became louder and louder.

"Aiden!!" Xander shouted as we came across Aiden who was covered in blood. His eyes glowed a dark shade of red with his fang elongated.

Dead bodies were scattered everywhere with even pieces of their limbs across the room from their bodies.

Xander rushed towards him and punched him in the jaw. "Wake the fuck up!!!" He screamed as Aiden stumbled to the floor. "This wasn't the plan Aiden!!! You're going to get us all killed!!"

"Then I'm going to kill them first." Aiden hissed as he tried to get up but Xander pushed him down again. "They've hurt Casey. They almost killed her."

"So you're going to kill them all?!" Xander spat. "Your mate needs you now more than ever! If you get killed right now then who do you think would live out the rest of her life thinking that all of this is her fault?!"

Hearing his words I couldn't help but feel that it was targeted to me.

I clutched my chest as it started to ache with guilt filling me.

The chaos that I brought had taken effect on the people that I love.

"This is my fault, isn't it?" The words just slipped out from my mouth which made the two brothers stop and look at me. "Am I wrong?"

"Sapphire you didn't choose to have these powers. None of this is your fault." Xander insisted as Aiden stood up and wiped his tears away, smudging a little bit-- well a lot of blood on his face.

"I over reacted, I'm sorry." He sniffed and looked at Mark. "Who's he?" He started to glare as his fangs started to elongate, but I think just he noticed how we're calm even though a werewolf named Mark is here.

"He's the beta's son." I pointed as Mark nodded in response and gave a small bow.

Aiden cleared his throat and sighed. "Sorry about the deaths of your men."

"No! It's quite alright. They weren't that great of a person to begin with." Mark shrugged.

I scanned the whole area and looked past Iiden to see a trail of death men that leads to the dungeon. I sighed and looked at him. "What are we gonna do about the bodies." I asked and noticed how I sounded like a murderer who had killed so many people that the deaths became something that he's so used to.

"You'll join them soon enough."

My eyes widened as I saw the two boys in front of me glaring at the person behind me.

The voice was the same voice that I heard at the meeting so it could only mean one thing...

We have been caught by the Alpha.
