Dresses and Gowns

Sapphire's POV

"Sapphire!" I groaned as I turned to the other side of my bed. Trying to ignore the countless wakeup attempts of a certain person who I know is intruding in a private property and can be accused of trespassing if she wasn't my best friend and if she didn't have a duplicate key of my house.

"Sapphire! Wake up! We need to go!" Casey exclaimed as she continuously jumped up and down on my bed.

I sighed. "I'm up." I yawned as I stretched my arms hoping that it'll be enough to actually keep me awake. "Where are we going again?" I scratched the top of my head recalling what we're going do today since she couldn't wait for me to wake up on my own.

"The boutique silly! We have to get ready for the ball!" She cheered when she finally sat down next to me.

Every girl and boy that turns 18 must go to the ball where they should find their mates, I turned 18 on September and Casey turned 18 a month ago, The Spring Ball is held at the month of January. Vampires occasionally have humans as mates so that's why few of us humans have to go just in case we have a vampire mate. Being 18 doesn't really have a meaning for humans to go to the ball, It's just the right age for your mate to find you, but the vampires sense their mates through smell when they turn 18.

I nodded and yawned once more before getting up. "I'll be ready in a few minutes, what about breakfast?" I asked as I swung my legs on the edge of the bed and stared blankly at the floor while blinking my eyes to adjust to the brightness of the room.

I live on my own since that my parents died when I was a year old my relatives took care of me, since I turned 18 I was a legal adult so I moved back to my old house, I have tons of money so I don't need to worry about spending it all up.

"I already made it, now come on we're going be late" Since I moved out Casey always helps out. She cooks for me and occasionally gives me a wakeup call. She always comes over whenever she has nothing to do, well, we have the place for ourselves so why not?

I nodded a response and stood up, stretching while I made my way down to the kitchen. I saw a decent breakfast on the table which made me smile. Casey always gives her best when making something for me. I gladly ate my breakfast and went up to my room again, thanking Casey as soon as I walked in.

She mouthed you're welcome without her smile leaving her face.

I shot an eyebrow up and continued to walk in. My head turned to the direction of my dresser when I remembered that I should pick out an outfit for today, something easy to take of when we try out our gowns for tonight.

When my eyes landed on the scattered clothes on the floor, my eyes widened with shock. "I just had breakfast for a few minutes and this is what I come back to." I said with both of my eyebrows crossed.

"It didn't take much time for me to make a mess, really." She said. I sighed and turned my head towards her to complain about her statement but when my eyes met with her smiling ones, I smiled. She held out a laced dress that just screamed simplicity. "I checked your clothes and you don't really have anything to easily take off. But I already knew that so I figured that I should bring you something that'll work." She said and held it out to me. I mouth hung open as I stepped nearer. "You're welcome." She said when I finally reached out for it.

"I don't know how you did it but you always know what's on my mind." I said as I admired the dress that my best friend brought. "You didn't have to make a mess out of my room though. You could've just gave this to me in the first place." I glared but she only gave me a cheeky smile.

"How could you call me your best friend if I didn't?" She said and jumped down. She pushed me towards the bathroom and closed the door when she shoved me right it.

I took a shower and got ready. Slipping in to my dress and putting on just a bit of make up just to complete the look.

We laughed at each other and told some jokes while we walked towards the door. She walked down to her car while I search for my house keys in my purse. I locked it and sighed, taking in the moment and trying to take in the strange feeling of whenever I leave the house. I was always a shut-in when I was at my aunt's place but I have never felt more comfortable since I moved here.

Casey honked her car which made me turn my head towards her and smiled apologetically. "Get in loser, we're going shopping." She mimicked the line in mean girls which made me roll my eyes at her. She stuck her tongue out and laughed. "Just kidding, I would never say that to my best friend." She said as I got in her car.

"You already did." I stated closed the door. "And we're not going shopping." I breathed. "We're going to pick up our gowns." She laughed and pulled her car out of the drive way and started driving to the boutique.

We got out of the car as soon as she parked it. She was just as excited as I am. The shop owner gladly greeted us when she saw us walking towards her shop. She opened the door and smiled brightly. "What took you so long?" She said with a giggle.

Casey smiled and pushed me in front. "Someone took her sweet time getting ready." She said which made me send death glares at her.

The owner giggled. "I can relate to that. I had to drag myself out of my bed this morning." She said which made me shot an eyebrow up at Casey to say that I wasn't the only one but she just rolled her eyes. "I didn't want to leave for work but I remembered that my favorite customers are going to drop in for their gowns." She winked which got Casey's attention again.

Her eyes sparkled as it begged for the gowns.

We were led towards the fitting room. We sat down on the chair while waiting for our gowns to arrive. A few minutes later, the owner and her assistant came in with our gowns. Casey's eyes lit up as she jumped up and down which made the two laughed in amusement.

"It's so gorgeous!" She exclaimed.

I smiled as the assistant handed me my dress. I brushed my fingers on the fabric and appreciated how detailed it is.

"Well, try them on!" The owner said.

Casey squealed. "Gladly!" She said and literally shoved herself inside the cubicle and I got into mine, drawing out the curtains when I got in.

When I finally got into mine, I slowly turned around to face the mirror and to see if I look ridiculous or not. I had my eyes close while slowly turning around. When I felt that I was in front of it, I slowly opened my eyes. My mouth hung open. I never really thought that I would appreciate laced gowns but this is just beautiful. My gown was white as snow and was styled as a ball gown. White flower gems were sewed on with more beading than I imagined. It made me look like a bride but I didn't mind since that I don't actually have anything to complain for.

While I was admiring my gown, I was pulled out of my cubicle and met with a squealing Casey who wore red mermaid styled gown with jewels and gems that completed the elegant look. We both know that the gowns weren't a waste of our money and now we don't mind the price since we both love the outcome.

We walked out of the boutique with the smiles that never left our faces. We thanked them for the gowns and drove home.

We both got out of the car while we contained our excitements to ourselves since we don't want anyone to see our embarrassing side when we get excited.

"So... are you excited?" Casey jumped at me from behind, clinging to me.

I sighed and shrugged my shoulders. "Yeah I guess so, I'm kind of nervous though."

She patted my back and smiled. "Come on! It'll be fun!"

I sighed and nodded as she dragged me towards my house and into my room. She shoved me back in to my bathroom and giggled.

"Take your time in there, tonight is going be a special night." She screamed on the other side of the door.

I sighed. With her winking at me and her telling me that tonight's going to be special and let's not forget about her shoving me into my bathroom. I know that she's the one who'll be enjoying this night.

I shook my head and just took a bath.

It took me 45 minutes before I come out, but seriously it only took me 30 minutes to get done, the other 15 minutes was just blankly staring at a wall. What? She said take my time, if I come out of this bathroom in less than 40 minutes she's just going to shove me right back in!

I exited my bathroom and glared at a sleeping figure in my bed. I tip-toed quietly and leaned in to her ear and yelled. "CASEY WAKE UPPPP!!!!!" She jolted up and growled at me, I was literally on the floor laughing. As soon as I composed myself I got up. While Casey was taking a bath I put some shorts and a shirt in a small bag for me to bring just in case I get uncomfortable and put on some oversized shirt for a while, I looked at my watch 4:03, the party doesn't start until 7:00, so we still have 3 hours to go. I began to blow dry my hair.

Casey still isn't finished. She'll probably be doneafter an hour. I walked towards my bed and threw myself on it. I took in a deep breath and got comfortable, letting my sleep take over.

{I opened my eyes for a bit and noticed that I'm in a blue room, oh my favorite color. I took off my gown and I lay down on the queen sized bed, then I fell asleep.}

"Hey it's 5:00 we need to get ready!" Casey screamed. I opened my eyes and smirked. As I said, it'll take her an hour. I nodded and got up.

She began to curl my hair as I put on my makeup. Then I curled hers as she does her make up. It took us an hour and a half to get our hair and make ups done. We slip in our gowns and finished getting ready. We waited for the limo to pick us up. Every one that was invited gets to ride in a limo to the ball.

Then it arrived. We quickly got on and arrived at exactly 7:15. We got off and made our way to the ball, we entered and there was people and vampires dancing, we made our way to get drinks but a guy with jet black hair and red eyes approached Casey. The guy held Casey in her hand and pulled her close to him. She was about to scream but noticed who he was.

"P-prince Aiden". The first child of Queen Elena and King Jasper, Prince Aiden was holding Casey at this very moment, that means...

"Mate..." He grinned widely as he leaned in and kissed Casey passionately. When Prince Aiden pulled back, Casey was speechless until she smiled at me. I've never seen Casey this happy in my entire life!

"I'm so happy for you!" I said as I hugged her and she hugged me back, I smiled at Prince Aiden. "I'm Casey's friend, Sapphire. It's a pleasure meeting you Prince Aiden." I lowered my head to show respect as he chuckled and he showed me a friendly smile.

"Call me Aiden. A friend of my mate doesn't need to be formal, her friend is my friend." I smiled back and excused myself to give them some privacy.

I leaned back on a wall and watched everybody dance. When Casey said this is a special night she meant it only for her. I sighed and closed my eyes and listened to the music playing, it was soothing. I looked at the people dancing and occasionally looked at the floor but I decided to keep my eyes closed even for just a few minutes.

But as I opened my eyes again and noticed a guy the same jet black hair as Aiden but he had amber eyes with a bimbo clinging to his side was looking at me. "Mate..." he muttered as I shivered with the title.

The girl giggled. "You're one and only." The girl said, I don't know why but I felt like I want to rip her off of him and tear her into pieces.

He noticed my sudden change of facial expression and glares at the girl. "Not you! Get off me!" He pulled his arm out of her grip and made his way towards me.

I was speechless, I looked around if there was anyone near me that maybe I was just assuming that he's coming over here for me but he's making his way towards another girl, but no one was around. I held my breath as he came closer and closer and then in a split second he was in front of me "What's your name?" He smiled at me.

"S-Sapphire" I gulped "P-Prince Xander"
