14 Crazy, hilarious camp deals we make

SUNDAY. 6:59 PM.

I walk down from the bus -along with other students- with my arm intertwined with Jenny's as I gaze upon the beautiful green landscape. A smile makes it's way to my lips when I see that the sun's beginning to set, giving the entire landscape covered with short green grass a lovely aura. If I didn't know any better, I'll call this place a sport's field but it's too wide and is without lane marks. The tips of my pants start to get a little damp from the wet grass caused by the rain earlier. But nevertheless, the place's beautiful.

"Wow." Jenny gasps beside me.

I turn my head to her with a smile on. "Right?"

Someone begins clapping loudly, making us all turn. I see Mr. Sprayberry standing with his hands moving in a clapping motion as he looks around to draw everyone's attention. "Okay! Gather around everyone! Come on, gather around." Then he looks to his left, "Taylor! Where do you think you're going?" He yells at a blonde girl, who I remember as a senior and she rolls her eyes at him.

Mr. Sprayberry turns his attention back to us and smiles. "Welcome to Lucky Reserve." He says, gesturing his hands to the whole place and everyone erupts in excited squeals and claps, I too join in the mini celebration and Jenny laughs beside me. The place's really beautiful, I guess the school had to make a lot of research to find this place and I love that they did that.

"Oh don't get it all wrong," Mr. Sprayberry quickly lifts his hands up. "This isn't where we'll be having our camping week." Some students make discontented sounds. "It is. But just not on this field." He points to the ground then frowns. "This place is literally close to the road, I mean it's right behind you."

I turn around to see the asphalted narrow roads and no sign of life anywhere except for the houses about 3 km away— which I only saw while on the bus. I turn back around.

"I can't risk the chance of any of you running away when the camp gets tough. So where we'd be having our Campeek! is over there," He turns around to point at the end of the field and it's then I see huge, tall trees aligned in that area. "Past those trees," He turns back to face us. "So think of this place as the entrance of the reserve. Now before you go grab your bags, I want to explain the rules." He intertwines his fingers and gives us all serious looks.

We are all standing in what one will call an almost complete circle with more people concentrated at the left side. So Mr. Sprayberry has to move his head from left to right. "Now, some of you already know the rules while most of you don't because you decided to act stubborn and not attend in your Junior year and those of you who are already planning on not attending in your senior year, I'm warning you." He points his fingers at some Juniors.

"On this Campeek! everyone does everything together, I don't care about your class rank, your social status or whether you're a senior or a junior, we do everything together. Everyone wakes up at the same time, eat together and do all of the activities together."

My eyes widen in amazement hearing him say that. This is it, this is definitely my chance with Adrian. There will be not a thing separating us because we'll be doing all of the camping activities together for a whole week.

"But the only thing you won't be doing together is— Sleeping." Mr. Sprayberry says and some students chuckle.

"Because the boys' tents will be 300 meters away from the girls' tents." He completes and the boys start conversing with laughter. "But I know that still won't stop you. By the end of this week I'll sure hear some funny stories."

The students laugh the more.

"If you have any health issues please contact me immediately so I can move you back to New Oleen. Try to behave yourselves, camp well, abide by the rules and there won't be a problem between you and me. You can go grab your bags." Mr. Sprayberry says and starts walking away from us with the Ethics teacher, Miss Sharpey beside him.

"This is going to be amazing." Jenny shakes me excitedly.

"Yeah it will, come on let's go grab our bags." I say and begin dragging Jen towards the bus but Benji walks into view.

"Don't worry Jenny babe, I'll grab your bags for you."

Jen raises a shocked brow, "Oh, thank you."

He nods with a smile and begins walking off.

"Oh and Benji could you help me grab my bags too?" I call him back and he looks squarely into my eyes.

"No." He states and walks away.

"Ass." I murmur then turn to Jenny, "Going to get my bags, be back."

"Wait Kins." Jen calls me back.

"Yeah?" I ask.

She looks hesitant as she forms her lips into a tight smile, open her mouth and close it back up. I frown at her, wondering what she wants to say that's so difficult.

"Let's make a deal." She says.

I raise an eyebrow at her, "Deal?" I fold my arms.

She sucks in a breath and stands taller. "Yes. A deal."

"Okay, what's this deal about?"

"Stop cursing."

My eyes widen as I give her a weird expression. What? What is she saying? Did Benji give her something?

"What?" I ask.

"Yes," She sighs. "I said stop cursing."

I frown more, "And why would you say that?"

Her expression changes to that of deep concern. "My dad doesn't really like you so much anymore since he came over to school that day and overhead you exchanging very beautiful words with Regina."

"What?" I lift my hands in offense. Is she being serious? "What did you expect me to do? She was complaining about nothing in particular about my mom's store."

I really fancy my mum's store, it is one of the biggest stores in New Oleen, our home town. In fact, if not the best store. My mum's store's currently under Hill's Enterprise, a really huge company at New Oleen. Some time ago it was hers but the CEO of the company decided to enter a business deal with her, now she makes sales under their name. Her store had almost everything but now that it's under Hill's Enterprise, her store has literally everything and it has been expanded, enlarging the building. Now it has all the sections; a sports section, clothing and jewelries, food, a workout and yoga room, a movie section, I sometimes go there to work alongside other workers.

Maybe it's a good thing Luxurious (mom's store) is now under Hill but my mom gets tired everyday because of the workload and her income only increased by a zero. More reason why she shouldn't have entered that business deal. They screwed her over but she insists on staying in the deal because now my mom's store's popular and more people come in just because of the name 'Hill'. I still don't see anything special in that company.

"Kinsley." Jenny calls back my attention. "And I didn't want to tell you this but that Friday when I got back home, he wasn't too happy that I was at a sleepover with you without his knowledge unlike before that he wouldn't mind me coming over without his permission," Then pauses and gives me a scared look. "and he said he doesn't want me hanging around you."

My eyes widen the more but I can't say anything.

"So please try to chime it down a little for my sake and my dad's. Besides you said your religion doesn't allow it-"

"Are you kidding me?" I find the ability to speak out and it comes in form of an angry hulk.

Jenny closes her eyes and intertwines her fingers, similar to a prayer position, "I know, I know I know." She opens them back up. "But do this for me, I don't want to stop hanging out with you, I like you the way you are but sometimes it can get a little out of hand,"

I raise an eyebrow.

"So just try to chime it down and if not a single profanity comes out of your mouth I promise you," She pauses to swallow, preparing herself for what she's going to say next. "I would stand up to my dad."

Okay… that's not what I expect to hear. Jenny stand up to her father.

I frown and step closer to her, maybe I'm not hearing her properly because I didn't just hear my best friend, Jenny Scott promise that. She's always been in her shell letting her dad make decisions on things she doesn't want. "What?" I ask again.

"You've always wanted me to have some audacity and confront my dad, right?"

"Yeah but you might just kill him if you do that—"

"Kinsley. Please." She says. "If you loose yourself and say just a little profanity," She pauses with a sad look on her face. "He'll stop me from being friends with you."
