7 Campeek!

A voice interrupts.

"Yo! Yo! Yo! I'm back Jenny babe."

Benji appears from behind us and takes a seat, wrapping his arms around Jen.

"Take your hands off me," She struggles out of his embrace. "Someone might see us."

"I don't care." Benji says. She slightly groans and he finally lets her go, puts his hands into his pocket whilst giving Jenny a big smile.

"Welcome the great Benji!" I say in an old, weary voice.

"My loyal servant Kinsley,"

I frown, "Hey! That wasn't my role." It's an awful play our teacher put together in 7th grade, that Benji brutally murdered with his horrible acting. Not an ironical statement. He's pretty famous for that even in Brice Worth, that's one in a lifetime show.

He chuckles then looks at Jen.

"I got something for you."

"No please, I don't want something from you." Jenny says in a bored voice.

"I got it anyways." he pulls his hand out of his pockets and handed Jenny something folded. I carefully watch Jenny to see what her reaction would be while pulling my water bottle out of my bag and taking a sip, the whole ordeal with Madison and Adrian kind of made me hungry, I'm still trying not to turn my head and take a peak at them.

Jenny's face brightens. "A Campeek! flyer!"

I look at what she's smiling at to see a sea blue colored flyer with the word, 'CAMPEEK!' written in big bold letters. I groan, screwing on the cap of my water bottle, "Get that thing away from me."

Campeek!. Derived from two English words, 'Camp' and 'week'. It's a school camping trip which held through the expense of 1 week, so Camp week, Campeek. Dumbass name. It's the only event in a year that takes Adrian from me for a whole week! A lot of people love it, saying it's the best event of the school year. But I freaking hate it.

"I've always supported you Kinsley and hoped that Campeek would get cancelled before Adrian became a Junior." Benji says as he stares at some thing behind me.

Jenny pats Benji's arm hard, "No way. I've always waited to go for Campeek. I don't want it to get cancelled."

I face Jenny. "You should want it to get cancelled, the worst part is that it's for—" I point to the footer of the flyer where it shows… "—Juniors and Seniors only."

"Yes! That's the best part." Her face lightens up. "It makes other students excitedly but patiently thrive to become Juniors and Seniors."

"Aish," I eye her, "You're so optimistic."

"You only don't like Campeek because it takes Adrian away from you."

I didn't ever like Campeek! but now I hate it more since Madison's here. It's not fair, she only just arrived about 15 minutes ago and I already feel threatened by her. Adrian could go on that trip, find another girl- or maybe he already has the girl, fall in love, get married and grow old with her. And I'm not on that trip.

"But hell! That Madison chick is totally dope. She's damn fine." Benji says as he continues staring behind me. I guess it's Madison he's been staring at this entire time. "But don't worry. I only got eyes for you, Jenny babe." He smiles cheekily at her.

"I don't want your eyes on me." Jenny gives him a sincere, pleading look.

It always happens like this every single day of school. We aren't even friends with him but Benji will follow us around, trying to sweet talk Jen and sweep her off her feet but she'll always resist him. I don't really know why exactly she does it, whether it's because she really doesn't like him or because her dad doesn't allow her to date until she's freaking 20. Because he follows us around, sadly he got to know about my secret crush.

"But that Madison is 100 percent gorgeous." Benji says.

"Benji leave." I say without even looking at him, griping my water bottle tight. If he wants to talk about Madison, let him do it somewhere else.

"Yes, Benji please leave." Jenny says.

From the corner of my eyes, I see him open his mouth to speak with a shocked look but closes it back up.

"Yo Benji!" Some guy a few meters away calls out and Benji gets up.

"I'm leaving only because he's calling me."

He leaves. Then Madison drops down in the seat directly in front of us with her usual happy smile on her face.

"I think I'm going to really love it here."

"Yeah you would." Jenny immediately says.

I stare at Madison for a brief second. I am Kinsley, I never feel gloomy or sad or effing inferior, I will continue to stand tall no matter what. Not even some pretty, British girl will make me feel small.

"So you and Adrian know each other?" I ask.

She nods, "Yes, we do. His parents came with him to England for some business deal with my father, about three months ago. He is a really fun person to talk to." Her smile brightens more.

Well I won't know since I've never spoken with him…

"That sounds nice." I smile at her.

Jenny glances at me then looks back at Madison. "So you and Adrian are just friends?"

I slightly gasp, turning my head to her but she keeps her gaze on the British girl in front of us. She knows I am dying to know the answer to that question, and knows that I can't come to ask it myself.

Madison's smile falters a little then she chuckles lightly. "Well, unfortunately," she trails.

Unfortunately?

"We are just friends,"

No one knows how relieved I feel just hearing her say that.

"But between us girls," She leans forward, whispering which makes us to also lean towards her to hear what she's about to say. "I really like him."

My eyes widen and I'm pretty sure Jenny's too do the same. "What?" I ask.

She turns to me, "I mean, he's the one I like."

That makes me cough.

Madison leans away from me, staring at me with huge brown eyes. "Oh my goodness, do you—"

I quickly shake my head, "No. This is a teen fiction, the Virus doesn't exist here."

"What?!" Jenny and Madison shoot me confused looks.

I frown. "I also have no idea what I just said."

"Those few weeks he spent in England with me, were the most magical." She says as she looks down at the table and played with her hands, her smile dying down. "He was even there with me through some very difficult times." Her tone changed a bit and Jenny looks towards me and I know all too well what her look means; 'There's something about her'.

Madison raises her head up and smiles at us, "He's a great person and I hope this school sees it too." She chuckles then her face gets serious. "He doesn't have a girlfriend, does he?"

Right this moment, I want to say he has a girlfriend so that she can probably step back for me to have a chance with him but it seems like her and Adrian already have an inseparable bond that no matter what I do, they'll still find a way to each other and also Jenny will hate me if I do that.

"No, no he doesn't have a girlfriend." I smile at her.

She relaxes, "That's a relief, I just hope while I'm here in the exchange program," She pauses. "He'll fall for me." She completes.

"Madison Brooks!" A voice calls and we turn our heads to see our principal, Mr. Gerard. "Please, come with me."

Madison turns to us with a nervous look. "Uhh, who is he?"

Jenny chuckles beside me, "He's our principal."

"Oh. Then I guess I better get going." She says as she starts getting up from her seat.

"But be careful though, he is kinda mean." Jenny says and Madison nods before walking off with the Principal.

Jen turns to me but I smile at her and turn my head away. I don't want to talk about it, I don't want to think about it.

I turn my head to the right to see a Campeek! flyer pasted on the wall. The camping trip's next week, starting on Monday but the campers will be leaving Sunday afternoon so they could get the feel of the camp before starting with camping activities on Monday. The sea blue flyer's designed perfectly fine and at the right side of the footer— *Juniors and Seniors only.

"Aish," I get up from my seat and walk towards the wall. "I hate Campeek!"

"I love it." Jen appears beside me.

I pout my lips at the flyer. "And I'm guessing Madison is going to go for the camp and will be with Adrian for a whole week."

This is ridiculous. She only got here less than 30 minutes ago and I already feel threatened by her.

Then an idea pops into my head. "What if we stop Madison from going to camp, we could always get her into a car acci—"

I'm cut off.

"You slapped me!" I yell at Jenny.

"Yeah, you needed that." She says firmly. "You aren't thinking straight again. Car accident Kinsley?" She gives me one of those pitiful, innocent looks that makes you feel like trash.

But she's right.

I look back at the flyer and pull it off the wall. "I just want to crush it with my hands."

A different voice says, "You should come."

For a moment, it feels like time stops.

That voice…
