28 Spar?

After I got over my shock, I put back the spear in the amulet. The destruction it caused right now was terrifying. This move shouldn't be used recklessly. This should be my trump card.

Aside from that, I had another thought running in my mind. Dad mentioned that the sword had the same properties as the spear but less powerful, that means I can probably perform that attack with the sword.

I didn't know how exactly, I performed that feat in the first place. All I did was sending my mana into the spear, the rest happened on its own. I guess it has something to do with the material used in crafting the weapon itself.

I disregard the idea for now; I'll have to ask someone about it, maybe father or Ralf.

I take Fulham from the amulet and held it above my head. I sent my mana into it but this time I couldn't send as much as I did when I used the spear.

The amount I was able to send now was way less, maybe one twentieth (2%).

I strike the sword downwards and the white arc comes out again. But this time, it didn't cause as much destruction.

It traveled for 10 meters before dissipating in the air, the damage it made was not visible. Only the ground was slightly cut where the arc passed, but it didn't suffer as much as before.

I decided to redo the spell, but this time I faced the undamaged part of the forest where trees were still intact.

I stood 2 meters behind the tree and slash my sword horizontally. The white arc was launched from the sword, but this time it didn't touch the ground, I guess it followed the way I slashed the sword. It kept moving until it reached the tree.

I was following the arc with my eyes, my mind was busy with speculations.

What will happen?

Maybe the arc would struggle for a bit before cutting the tree. Maybe it would just dissipate when it makes contact or maybe it would completely destroy the tree as it did the first time.

The tree had a very thick trunk and I didn't know what would be the outcome of this clash.

When the arc made contact, unexpectedly, it didn't struggle to cut into it, but just the opposite, it just passed through it, but there was no damage either.

I was confused. What happened? The tree seemed just fine it didn't suffer any damage whatsoever. It stood as tall as before.

I opted to inspect it closely. I take some steps towards the tree and stood just behind it. I look at the place where the arc supposedly passed through and still, I didn't see anything unusual.

I stretch my hand and placed it unto the tree. I was puzzled, was there something I did wrong? Maybe I didn't send enough mana, but I sent the same amount as I did earlier. Maybe I didn't focus enough, I don't think so. Was I not supposed to swing the sword horizontally, no the arc did form.

I was frustrated and I punched the tree. But suddenly… *screach* *screach* I heard screeches coming from the tree. I look up and was baffled, the tree was going down and it was going to bury me in the ground, I hastily stepped aside and distanced myself from the area of impact.

When the tree fell, a light shockwave pushed the dirt on the ground in the air and made a dust cloud.

I close my eyes and put my hands in front of them. When I felt that the dust settled I open them.

The tree top was lying on the ground, while the bottom was still stuck in the ground.

I went to observe the tree from up close. I, then, understood everything.

The tree was cleanly cut; it was as if the two parts of the tree were never attached together in the first place. That was why nothing seemingly happened, after the arc went through the trunk the upper half just rested on the base, and all it needed was a punch to make it fall.

I didn't know if this arc could cut through everything it passed through or would mages be able to block it, but I knew something for sure.

If someone isn't able to evade this attack, he would be in serious trouble.

I decided to use this spell, when I encounter monsters like the goblins from yesterday. It was deadly, but compared to the Genesis's version, it was way less destructive.

I decided to name these two moves based on the weapons that launch them.

Fulham Flash and Aura of Genesis.

I was very satisfied with what happened today and my two new weapons. I managed to forget the events of yesterday, even for a brief moment.

I practiced using Fulham and Genesis for the rest of the day, but I didn't use any of the new moves. I wanted to get better at using the weapons in a basic way and master them as soon as possible. I decided to ask dad to train me in using them and correct anything I would do wrong.

I got back home just before dinner and managed to eat some food. I went to sleep early, and thankfully I managed to sleep well, maybe because I was tired or maybe I just got over what happened. It didn't matter. The most important thing is that I am well and fine.

Just like that two weeks passed.

I kept practicing all the time trying to improve my use of the weapons. Thanks to dad's guidance and training, I managed to get a strong foundation and some mastery over them, but still, I have a long way to go to truly master them.

I focused mostly on physical training, because I knew first hand its importance, and the use of weapons. I hadn't had any inspiration to make a new spell these two weeks, maybe because I was too focused on the weapons.

I asked dad about the moves I made when supplying Genesis and Fulham with mana and he explained it to me, he said:

"That was the characteristics of some metals; we call them moon ore, just like the Ustrum in your spear, the one that is golden. These metals conduct mana into them and according to the mana affinity; it would unleash a powerful move utilizing the proprieties of the affinity. For example, a sword made from moon ore, when it is used by someone who has fir affinity would burn with intense heat and generate fire on the surface of the sword, but when it's used by someone who has the earth affinity would make the sword unbreakable, and harder and sharper than diamond itself." It made sense then; the arc was the metal expressing my affinity related to most likely space. That meant that with my space affinity I have the strength to influence things and even separating them.

It was kind of interesting, the arc didn't just cut the tree but it separated the two halves from the point where it went through. It was really cool, but I couldn't think of a way to use that and create my own spells utilizing it. It felt that the arc sent by Fulham or Genesis was the best way to go.

I tried using the spear with my time affinity but surprisingly nothing happened. I didn't know why but I felt like I was missing something, so I decided to learn more about it another time.

Tomorrow was going to be the day where I start Academy. I would still be navigating between home and the Academy because I didn't want to skip my training, and I didn't know if I'd be able to practice there at all, I didn't want to risk it. I start the day by doing physical exercises and training with the wooden dummy. I was now barely able to keep up with the second level of difficulty, Knight, without using any enhancements.

It was now time for lunch; I went in the house and sat at the table. After a while Endric and dad joined us at the table.

We were eating the delicious meal mom made for us, when dad suggested something:

"Endric, Edward, I have a good idea. Why don't you too have a spar together after lunch?" I choked on the food I was chewing; I took up a cup of water and downed it in one swoop. "Hah, Spar with Endric, Are you serious?" "Of course, it would be perfect" I look at Endric and he didn't react at all, he said:

"Sure, it would be nice" "You too Endric?" "Well, I was wondering how strong you have become these past few months, with all that training that dad got you in, and it's not like we will be seriously injuring each other." "What about you mom?" "Sure I don't see a problem, just make sure not to injure yourselves and besides Roland is there to watch you" I kept silent, I was curious about how strong I have become compared to Endric, but dad's proposition was too sudden.

We finished lunch and dad asked me to open a gate to where he and Endric trained, and I did .

We got there and dad said:

"Now stand facing each other 20 meters afar, I'll be stopping the spar when I deem someone is winning. No deadly spells and don't seriously injure each other.

When this coin touches the floor you may start." I was standing opposite of Endric, I saw his fights with dad and he is very strong, so I decided to take him seriously.

Dad threw the coin in midair.

*cling* Just as it made contact, dad yelled:

"GO!!"
