Regret

"Master, Madam is in the right wing of the second floor," Jeff replied as soon as Darius returned.  He walked towards the path but unexpectedly heard the sound of a piano.

His footsteps uncontrollably walked towards that direction and saw Aelin sitting in the study room. She wore a white dress with her head quietly lowered. Her white, slender fingers flew across the piano keys, and sorrowful music flowed from her fingertips. Her face was melancholic as her fingers danced over the keys. By the end of the piece, Aelin's face was full of tears.

Darius knew he was to be blamed for her grief but if he was given another chance he would make the exact same decision. Even after knowing that, he still could not control the pain he felt in his heart watching her cry. He began to self-doubt. He hated himself for not being able to console her. He stared at her as his emotions spiral out of control releasing a chilly aura instantly lowering the temperature of the room to a few degrees.

Aelin kept playing the piano till her fingers were barely able to move. Recalling about those glory and brutal days, her back was covered in sweat and she had the sudden urge to throw up. She didn't notice a certain someone who has been staring at her for the last hour. She turned and was surprised when she came face to face with Darius. 'when did he come? Was he watching me all this time' She wondered

"Regretting marrying me so soon?" He mocked her.

Aelin didn't hear what he said as she had to rush towards the washroom urgently.

Darius stood there stunned at being completely ignored.

When Aelin walked out of the bathroom she was surprised to see Darius still standing there, but when she saw his dark aura and piercing eyes staring at herself, she was alarmed. She knew that something was wrong but she can't remember what she did to anger him.

"Aelin, do you hate me so much? Am I so disgusting to you?" She was dumbfounded.

Darius slowly walked towards her. His one hand held her waist and the other grabbed her chin. His face inched closer and gave a harsh whisper in her ear, "My sweet, beautiful girl, even if you want to, you will never be able to escape from me."

And then he walked straight out of the room leaving her staring at his back.
