Day-1 Shack and Talents

I was caught off guard by the sudden accusation. I had already replied honestly, but Ace looked as if his suspicions had been elevated to another level.

"What is your talent."

Ace thought the best way to get answers was to ask directly, what he didn't know was he was confusing the poor Jay with his questions even more.

"I...don't have one..."

Jay said between cautious breaths.

"Impossible! Everyone has one!"

Ace was seething at this point, 'If he was going to lie couldn't he have come up with something more believable?!'. He was mostly upset due to the fact he thought he wasn't even worth giving a convincing lie.

Jay shrunk in fear of angering his hope more. After a couple seconds of silence Ace had finally had it with this kid and grabbed him by the arm and started pulling him out the door.

"Hey! What are you doing?"

Everybody has their limits for how much they can put up with and Jay had reached his. Jay was also surprised by Ace's grip, but he was a bit busy to compliment anyone.

Ace was pulling Jay towards the back of Amara and into a shack.

The shack looked old and rustic, like it could collapse any second, but at the same time strong and stable. The appearance of the shack proved to be deceiving.

Ace kicked open the faded door, and revealed a grand and glossy room. The room had a row of weapons hanging, which varied from swords and guns, to javelins and shields. The room was white with stripes of silver running around the outline of the floor. The room practically glowed to a person like Jay, who the latest tech he had was a mediocre hologram producer.

After Jay had taken in his new surroundings, a gasp escaped his mouth followed by bewilderment of the sheer size of the room he was now walking about. If the outside of the shack were a closet, it was like walking in a mansion.

"Amazing isn't it?"

Ace chuckled while looking at Jay's face of awe. It had not been more than a minute before Ace started to get back down to buisness.

"Now that you have looked around a bit, show me your talent."

Jay was once again caught off guard for what felt like the 50th time that day. Without really knowing how else to respond he walked to the center of the crisp white mat and stood there.

Jay was still baffled and in that moment of confusion he let his thoughts slip out of his mouth.

"How do I use my talent?"

He was jolted back to reality when he realized he had said it outloud and saw Ace staring.

"Sigh... Imagine the devil and count his horns."

Jay imagined what he thought a devil would look like and started to count the horns aloud, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

'Congratulations on unlocking your talent.'
