"What?"

Yang Ding couldn't believe his eyes as the series popped in his head. His bewildered expression, if shown to the masses would get good pay just for the humorous element it had.

"You get shop points for that?"

"Well. Since I got them."

"Use one shop point on pride tally."

"Hmm, now what? Should I just go around and keep doing this shit? Hmm... this is indeed another way to get points." Yang Ding pondered on it for a moment and then shook his head. "Nah, not efficient. There were so many dead bodies and all I got was a single point. How does that work? I will think about it later."

Yang Ding stopped thinking about it and decided to return.

"Brother Ding Yang! Wait for a moment!" Wei Xue came to him.

"Yes? Is there anything else you need me for?"

"No, there is none at the moment. But, my brother is a guest in our clan. It was very impolite of me to not give you welcomes. Allow me to make up for the same."

Yang Ding nodded.

Wei Xue called a disciple of the sect and gave him instructions.

"This boy here will show you the way to the guest room. You can use it as your chambers till your stay in our clan."

"I will accept your offer. But, I am not going to stay in your clan for much longer. I reckon that the Lightning Heaven Clan is going to be in war again the Phoenix."

"Yes, you are right, brother Ding Yang."

Yang Ding nodded.

"I will take my leave for the night then."

Yang Ding greeted Wei Xue as he left with the disciple. The disciple steered him through the pavilion as he was directed to the guest room mentioned by Wei Xue.

It was a room thrice the size of those provided to the outer court disciples like Su Yang. Majestically decorated with golden inscriptions with high calligraphic value, the room spoke of its glory. Though in contrast to its majestic decorations the room was rather empty. It had a single large bed twice the size of what he was sleeping on till today and had curtain-like cloth endowed to its sides which gave it a royal look.

"Well, not bad for a mid-tier sect."

Yang Ding cannot be fazed by such a room alone. But he was thankful that the clan's folk had kept the room rather empty. Depending on how long he stays here, he can put the space to good use.

Yang Ding walked towards the bed as he caressed the bedsheet to make a judgment of its texture.

"This is much better than the one Su Yang uses. Haha, oh I completely forgot that I soiled it last time I used it."

Yang Ding couldn't hold back his laughter. To him, Su Yang was just that kind of person, easy to make use of. In that laughter, however, something came to the back of his mind. It was always there trying to surface itself but couldn't come out. But, now he realized something important.

He clicked his tongue.

"It's rather annoying, but most of the methods I know of to earn shop points comes from him."

Yang Ding knew of only three concrete ways to get more shop points. His system was never quest-based or rather it never told the reader what the quests are. The user has to figure out things himself!

The first time he got points was by following Su Yang's advice. Although he might have lucked out and got a point from treating people with his Miraculous Physique healing pill but…

"Even the third method I just found out was because I had copied his actions and not due to my efforts!"

To Yang Ding who had always achieved his goals by hook or by crook, it was rather annoying when he has to follow someone else's actions and plans to achieve his goals.

"Why does this system like him so much, I wonder?"

Yang Ding pondered on it as he sat at the edge of the bed.

"System, is Su Yang important to you?" Yang Ding asked trying to fish out something.

…

There was no response from the system.

Yang Ding's system wasn't the best in helping its user figure out things.

"Why? Why him? What's so special about him? What does he have that I lack?"

He gritted his teeth.

"I am better, I am better than him in everything whether it be cultivation or brains. Yet, why is the system favoring him?"

No matter how much he asked the answer to the question never came.
