~My Surprise Baby Chapter 1~

Today was like any normal day for me. I woke up to the sound of my phone's alarm clock. If the alarm clock wasn't part of my phone I most likely would have smashed it by now. I pulled myself off of my bed and put on my slippers. I have about fifteen minutes to get ready for the day before I have to go to my classes. I went into the bathroom and started to brush my teeth. Then I combed my hair and went back to put on my clothes. My regular outfit for the day is a pair of jeans or sweatpants with a basic shirt. I grabbed a pair of pants from my dresser and some socks. Today was a test day so I grabbed my lucky socks.

Call me silly all you want for believing in those childish superstitions but they work in my opinion. I have never been late to an interview or failed an exam thanks to these socks. I put on my lucky socks and put on a pair of gray sweatpants. It is the beginning of fall so it is starting to get cold. Though the perk about fall is it isn't so hot outside you burn alive like late spring or summer. I grabbed a gray shirt from the top drawer of my dresser and put it on. Every night before I go to bed I pack my bag for school. Today I didn't need to pack anything associated with poems. Due to today being our test and usually they take up a whole class. Sure I want to become an author one day but learning poetry isn't my favorite thing with writing. The easiest poem for me to write is an acrostic poem you know the one you did in fourth grade. The teacher would say "Tell me what your best quality is in an acrostic poem." Then almost everyone would put creative because that is the easiest one to do.

My favorite English teacher in my life was my seventh through eighth grade English teacher. For the first year, we didn't have any tests or quizzes. All we did was read and practice writing essays. So that class was an easy one hundred. It almost made me lose my mind how often she said to remember to capitalize the beginning of your sentence and not copy others' work. I thought that was common sense but apparently, some people didn't know that. I walked out into the small kitchen and put a bagel in the toaster oven. I turned the setting to bagel and I went over to the fridge and pulled out the container of cream cheese.

I walked over to the kitchen drawers and pulled out a butter knife and plate. Within the next few seconds, the toaster oven made a ding sound. Signaling that the bagel was toasted. I pulled out the bagel and put it on my plate. I took the cream cheese and spread it on my bagel. With how beautiful my bagel looks I could be cut out to be a chef. Maybe I should quit this whole expensive college deal and open a cafe. Most likely before I would be able to open the cafe my mother would behead me for quitting college. It was a nice thought while it lasted.

My mom may seem sweet and nice to the unsuspecting eye but she will do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals. I think my dad is crazy sometimes because he doesn't see how mom acts when she's determined. In all honesty, though they make a good couple even if he did realize they'd still love each other. My alarm signaling it's time to leave went off. I went through a mental list making sure I had all of my stuff. Water? Check. Books? Check. Notebooks? Check? Phone and computer along with the chargers? Check. Pens and pencils? Check. Wallet and lunch? Check. Looks like I have everything I need.

Every day I leave my apartment at the same time my neighbor James does. We walk with each other until we have to go in separate directions. James is a police officer and a good person. We chat about my school and his work. James can't tell me much but he still can have an interesting conversation with me. I walked out of the apartment and locked the door behind me. The apartments here are an amazing size for the price. The landlady is a nice older lady named Mary who is always nice to everyone. For the most part, if you keep your apartment well maintained then she never has to talk with you about anything serious.

I knocked on James' door and a couple of seconds later the door opened. "Hey, Alex you're ready to leave earlier than usual today," James commented. "Yeah, I have a test today. I hope you don't mind leaving a bit early today." I told James. "I don't mind at all I was already awake. When I was in the police academy most of the tests were physical so we didn't have to study much with books." James told me as he grabbed his bag and started to walk. "Lucky you. My major is completely different the most physical part is lifting the books and walking to get a cup of coffee." I told him. "Well, you must have good arm and hand strength then." He joked. Not really when I'm older I'll probably have arthritis from the amount of caffeine and salt in my diet along with typing on a computer. I thought to myself. "Since we are a bit early today I might finally be able to have a decent cup of coffee and a jelly doughnut. Instead of the last cup of lukewarm coffee and a plain doughnut." James mentioned. I have no clue why a plain doughnut exists.

"I could toast a bagel for you in the morning if you want but you are on your own when the weekend comes," I told James. "That would be amazing thank, you Alex," James said with a smile. "I have to turn here. Have a good day at work." I told James before waving. "You too, and I wish you the best on the test," James said before walking away. He's a nice guy and likes to help people which makes him a good friend in my opinion. Once I made it to college I went and took my seat in one of the front rows. I may not be able to play on my phone during lectures like people in the back rows but at least I'm able to get my test quickly. Soon people started to come in and take their seats. Before long Mr. Michael was taking attendance and tests were being handed out. I barely finished that test.

Shakespear I have no clue how you wrote sonnets but whoever can write a sonnet in ten minutes is a monster. I finished all the other questions and poems easily but it took me thirty long minutes to write that sonnet. After five minutes passed of waiting Mr. Michael said "Testing time is done put down your pens." A few groans could be heard. I heard one of the students say "What teacher has a question where you have to write a sonnet as an answer?" "I do Jeremy and if you don't like my questions then you shouldn't have signed up for a poetry class," Mr. Michael said. A few laughs of the students could be heard. "Okay if that is all everyone have a nice rest of your day and go on to your other classes." Mr. Michael said while dismissing us.

Right, when I got out into the hallway I got a call from Ms. Mary. "Hello," I said while answering the call. I was a bit confused why she called me. "Hello, Alex I know you are a good tenant when it comes to noise, but I received a call from one of your neighbors saying there is a crying baby inside your apartment," she told me. I was at a loss for words I don't have a baby and neither do my neighbors. "Okay thank you for letting me know I will check on it right away." I sent a quick email to Mrs. Johnson saying I have a problem at my apartment I have to deal with. I walked out of the college and went back to my apartment. It was a quick seven-minute walk to get back. When I got back up to my apartment door I was left speechless by what I saw. There was a baby with a note on the basket. I swear I probably turned as pale as a ghost when I saw two babies.

I thought this only happened in movies, not in real life. I picked up the babies and read the note. It said, "Our names are Amber and Christan please take care of us." Why would someone abandon two babies near winter at some random apartment? I understand children are expensive but to abandon them isn't right they should have at least tried an adoption center. What am I going to do?
