6 Chapter 6

When Lyka and I arrived at the gates, there were 2 guards holding spears on each side of the gate. The guard on the left side approached us and extended his hands.

"Your Guild Card please. If you do not have one please pay 10 silver coins,"

I was troubled since I did not have a Guild Card or money, but as I was about start making excuses, Lyka took out her card.

"Here's my Guild Card. This is my friend that saved me from a monster in the forest. Can you do me a favor and let him inside?"

The guard looked at her Guild Card and looked a bit surprised. He looked at me and then Lyka and back at me.

"Go in," The guard said with a sigh.

"Thank you. If you have any trouble please come to the Wintercolt House," Lyka said as she took out a blue paper.

The guard's face immediately brightened and he had a big smile on his face as if he won the lottery.

"Thank you Miss. Wintercolt! Thank you! If you have any other friends outside that has some trouble getting in, please look for me so I could immediately let them in,"

"Thank you," Lyka said with a smile and with a nod, she and I went in the town.

When I went inside, the word isekai screamed inside of me. There were rows of buildings made out of cobblestone and wood. When we went further inside, there were stalls everywhere. Food, jewelry, and even weapons were being sold. The place was brimming with people and it felt like a mall on Black Friday. I was getting kind of bored from just walking so I decided to start a conversation.

"So how far is it to your house?" I asked.

"Not that far. As long as we get pass this marketplace, we should get there in a couple of minutes," She replied.

"Oh yeah, what was that blue paper you gave to the guard back there?"

"Oh, that was the Pass of the Nobles. All nobles have that to give to people that did favors for them or if they just really liked them. In order to make them, the noble will inject his magic inside a paper called Magic Paper which absorbs magic and makes it a certain color. The paper is also able to store something called a magic imprint which is kind of like an identity check so no one could ever create a fake one from your family. Once you receive the paper with the magic imprint, youcan go to that specific noble's house and ask for their help as long as it doesn't involve getting into certain crimes. Most nobles not willing to get in trouble for others unless it's for their own benefit,"

"Hmmm, are those papers hard to get?"

"Sort of. While they're not too hard to get, it's pretty expensive so only nobles and huge organizations such as the Adventurer Guild could really afford them so when you get one you know it's the real deal.

A bit after the small talk, we arrived in front of a giant 2 floor white mansion with a gate in front of it and giant metal fences surrounding it.

"Here it is!" Lyka said with a smile. "This is the Wintercolt Family's home,"

I was quite surprised at how modern the mansion looked. It looked like it was built with 21st century technique with concrete and looked absolutely gorgeous the more I stared into it.

"Wow your mansion is quite different than the rest of the buildings. Already the technique used, the materials, and everything is so unique," I said.

"Well, yeah, I have an older sister that comes up with crazy ideas. She made use of materials we thought were toxic and dangerous and created this house. We were all apprehended at first, but when we lived there for a while, it turned out it was quite nice living in there," Lyka said.

'Oh, an older sister interested in architecture,' I thought while trying to picture how she would be like.

When Lyka walked in front of the gate, a blue orb appeared in front of her and she proceeded to put her hand on top of it. The orb started to glow and after a couple of seconds it dimmed.

Right after it dimmed, the gates started to slowly open as it made creaking noises.

'What in the world,' I thought with my mouth gaping.

Lyka looked back, saw my face, and started to laugh.

"Oh yeah, you never saw this before have you? My sister also made this. It's a magic item that locks the door or gate. When it is made, the owner gets his/her family and anyone they trust and all of them inject their magic. As you know magic is different for every person and this device is able to detect and identify the magic for each person. If there is someone that tries to break into the house, this lock will start firing magic at the intruder. As for friends and other relatives that is not entered into the system, as long as the owner knows that they are here, they can She calls this the Blue Lock,"

"Wait your sister isn't an architect?!" I asked with a surprised tone.

"No, she's merely slightly interested. What she is extremely fond of are magic items. Not swords or things of that nature, but rather items like the teleportation machine. Currently, she's candidate for the Grand Magic Scholar, one of the most powerful person in the kingdom. The Grand Magic Scholar is the head of all scholars and you know what that means. All intellects are in the Grand Magic Scholar's control making that person almost as powerful as the king himself.,"

"She's the candidate for such a strong position?! What does she do?"

"Well aside from making great architecture, she also is the head researcher of the teleportation device research where they are trying to create a teleportation machine with far less material as the original. Right now, many say that she is making huge progress and she will be able to create a strong machine with a quarter of a cost in about 5-6 years! If she succeeds, our kingdom can win wars with extremely few casualties which can expand our kingdom significantly. We might even be able to take over the entire continent with all those teleportation machines,"

After the explanation, we went in the mansion and again it was dazzling. Chandeliers, statues, and pillars that had vases or figurines on top of it were everywhere.

'I wonder how much that costs,' I thought.

Lyka started to show me the mansion.

"So those two rooms in the front are guestrooms so you can stay in one of them. If you go further to here, this is the dining room."

As she was introducing me to the various places, I heard a sweet sounding voice.

"Hello little sis, you're home,"

"Eek! Hello older sister," Lyka said.
