6 Replacement

We can't delay the engagement any longer. The Jackson's expecting Selene." It was her mother.

"They knew she's in a coma." Her father said, pissed.

"They want Sophia instead. It has been scheduled already so we can't do anything about it. Let's send her there." Her grandfather blurted in a serious tone.

"Do you think they'll accept her? Look at her! She has flaws." Her aunt said in disgust.

"Just send her. If they reject her, let's marry her off to a lower clan." Her grandfather ordered while looking at her intently.

Sophie couldn't understand what was happening. A week ago, the Wilson clan took over the villa where she was staying and protected her from her own family.

Percy promised that he would come back but he never showed up after. And now, she was taken back to the Anderson mansion and in front of her family.

Her father told her that her sister Selene got into an accident and was now in a coma. Only two days left and it would be her engagement to Percy. Her family would do anything for this engagement, even sending the most hated person in the family.

"You will replace your sister to be Percy's fiance. Do not make a mistake to humiliate us. Our family's power depends on this engagement. If you fail, I will sell you off myself." Her mother said while looking at her with disgust.

Nobody told her what happened to Selene. They didn't even allow her to see her. She was confused all of a sudden. She was brought back to their house but instead of taking her to her old bedroom, she was taken to Selene's room.

She looked around and saw the huge difference between their bedrooms. Hers was just a bedroom with a bed, a set of wooden study table and chair, a small bathroom, a closet that could only fit for around ten to twenty clothing, a mirror and a bookshelf.

While Selene's bedroom has all of it, the difference was they were all expensive ones. The bed was huge enough for four people with a rose carving on the headboard, it also has a canopy with pink lace curtains around it. The sheets and blankets were thick to keep you warm at night. There was a mini living room and a study table across it. The bathroom has a bathtub and a water heater. The closet was huge and a lot of different dresses were hanging in it.

"You will stay here from now on." It was her mother's voice.

She turned around to face her. Her mother has golden hair like her and Selene, but she looked a lot like her sister. She couldn't understand what she was feeling right now. She was a nobody to her family, but now she suddenly became the heiress of the Anderson clan.

"This is just temporary. You will be a substitute for your sister. A replacement. Once she wakes up, she will need to take back everything from you." Her mother suddenly said.

"Can I ask you a question?" She asked, looking at her intently.

Her mother didn't answer but frowned so she continued.

"Why did you treat me like that? I am also your daughter but why did everyone in this family treat me like an outcast? I couldn't remember anything that I did wrong. You are my mother, but I have never felt love from you. Why?" She asked in a firm tone.

Her mom stared at her with a hateful look in her eyes. She wanted to look away as it was making her heart ache, but she couldn't show her that she was that weak.

"What do you think would happen if you don't have a twin sister? What do you think I felt when you were born? I was happy Sophie, only to be disappointed when I saw your eyes. Your grandfather would have kicked us out if Selene wasn't born. He would have disowned your father, his own son, if it weren't for your sister. I wouldn't be the lady of this house if you are the only one born that day. So stop asking me those stupid questions and just be an obedient daughter. You are good with that, right?"

Sophie's heart was crushed once more. She thought that her mother would at least have a sense of guilt from everything that has happened to her. There are a lot of things that she still wanted to ask her, but she knew her heart would be broken into pieces from her mother's response.

She gulped and mustered the courage to ask her another question. But it wasn't about her, it was about the things she was asked to do.

"If I decline? If I don't obey you, what would you do?"

Her mom smirked. She didn't move a step to get closer. She was just standing by the door of the walk in closet.

"Then I guess, you would never see your sister again." Her mom suddenly said.

Her eyes widened. She never thought her mother would use her sister.

"What did you do to her? Mom please stop. Don't hurt Selene." She begged.

Even though her sister hated her and tried to poison her, Sophie still loved her.

"I won't hurt her. She's my precious daughter after all, but your grandfather would do anything to make that engagement possible. It's not that hard to get engaged with Percy, right? You like him. And I don't believe if you tell me that you have never wished to be in Selene's shoes just to get Percy. So stop being so dramatic, we all have our dark side."

She didn't say a word but inside, she was screaming. With a clenched fist, she surrendered and just nodded at her mother.

"Good. Tomorrow, we'll go to a party. It's a party for the youngest daughter of the Smith's. Behave and make her your friend, she's the fiance of Luke Wilson. You know him, right?" Her mom ordered her.

She nodded again and without another word, her mom turned around, leaving her fuming with anger inside her heart.
